When digging holes for your rocks, dig the three holes in the corner at an angle and stand within the angle and it'll keep your from moving around so much. Every time you move to straighten back up, you loose a chance to hit the rock and get anything. Corner holes for example, two up top, one to the side, making an right angle.

Thank you! And you definitely should, it’s hard to delete the old progress but starting a new island has been so much fun

You'll get better at hitting rocks with lots of practice.
Many players assume incorrectly that digging a hole or closing an empty hole wears down a shovel.
The shovel will only take wear and tear if you dig up an object or hit an object.
You can dig up and close up a million empty holes without breaking a shovel.
Also, once you start the hitting of a rock (there is a time limit of 8 or 9 seconds), your shovel will never break before the time runs out.

That’s so good to know. So now I don’t have to worry about overusing the shovel for digging holes ☺️
