@@bumbaclot813 Because he was opportunistic, and it's probable his situation made him think he had to be as pragmatic, and ruthless, as possible. It's also probable he never thought Arbiter would listen anyway (and it's possible he didn't even care about whether Arbiter would). Which is a shame, because to us the viewers, it did seem like Arbiter was willing.
The heretic leader being the type of person to actually go against the Covenant's teachings was a good thing, but clearly he had other personality traits that hindered the rebellion from truly getting off the ground.

Two paths for the epilogue: 1. Tartarus would have remembered what the Arbiter told him, and a confrontation would happen in the Ark's control room once it became obvious transcendence wasn't happening. He would demand clarification from the Forerunners themselves, and Guilty Spark, and/or another Forerunner AI would just repeat what Tartarus had already been told. Their religion was false, their war against the humans was based on nothing more than lies and a translation error, and by initiating the Great Journey they had in fact murdered an entire galaxy.
Ships sent back to the Milky Way would confirm it. Tartarus would then exterminate the San'Shyuum and take control of what was left of the Covenant. I'd also assume Miranda Keyes survives this outcome, since it's likely she would have been the human used to activate the array. Perhaps the Spirit of Fire also survives somehow. I'm not sure what mechanism opened a portal to the Ark for them, maybe it could have happened early once the array was activated.
    2. Guilty Spark tells them a partial truth; the Ark is out of range of all active installations. They wait a few days for his replacement Halo to be completed and fire it, which he still insists on due to the Flood presence on the Ark. The End.

I feel like once all the halos were fired and Tartarus realized that the arbiter was right, he'd kill the prophets for what they've done and try to rebuild civilization, maybe not as efficient or as elegant as another species but with the intelligence and instinct they had they'd start by searching for any other existing life and having a majority of their forces on the arc rebuilding themselves
My final thought is, would the firing of all the halos effect the halo 4 plotline and would it continue into a potential war between the brutes and the Prometheans? Because I don't think Tartarus would be dumb enough to trust another "intelligent mind" after trusting the prophets

@@PennywiseTheFirstthough the flood would still lose to the Covenant. Gotta remember that in retrospect, the covenant’s end was largely attributed to a combined effort of the Humans, Covenant defectors, and the flood. Yes, the flood has far more muscle, however the “environment” already heavily detriments them, the “environment” being the forerunner infrastructure and the ability to activate the rings.
With Chief and Cortana gone, humanity can’t fight the covenant. If they can’t fight the covenant, the Arbiter either doesn’t turn good or does but can’t do anything as he has no powerful allies. Because the Arbiter can’t do anything, the Covenant end up activating the Rings using human slaves before the flood could grow strong enough to stop them.

    Post-Great Journey-Clarity
After a few minutes of nothing really happening, everyone being alive and silent but a few odd mumbles between a few grunts, Tartarus has that devestating realization of knowing what he has just permitted to happen. In that instance. I believe he’d to into a feral state of despair, lashing out at the three Prophets, beating and tearing them limb from limb, before throwing their barely living bodies down to the other troops to finish off.
After that. I imagine they’ll just go back to the Milky Way Galaxy, and despair at the truth of what the Great Journey was upon returning to Earth & previously Covenant controlled space. Finding fleets of ships, floating in space with their crews slumped over dead at their stations, and returning to their home worlds, seeing every single individuals of their species also dead. And also, every single animal, and all the plants. Lifeless husks is what awaits them upon their return to the Milky Way Galaxy.

"YOU LIED TO US!" his voice was pure rage, hot enough that even the reinforced hull of High Charity could not stand against it. The mighty Chieftain raised his great maul and charged. He cleared the distance between himself and the Hierarchs in mere seconds, faster than any soldier in the control room could have possibly reacted to. His blood boiled, his mind a sea of red hot anger, his grip iron clad on his hammer, the tool of the Prophet's retribution. Only one thing sat center in his mind: vengeance. With their wits gathered, the rest of the Brutes watched as their leader's hammer came down with a mighty thud. Tartarus felt pure elation as his hammer crashed into the Prophet of Regret first. Regret for bringing him here, regret for sending his brothers into battle, 50 at a time to "die gloriously" for the Great Journey. Regret's skull splintered and splattered into a fine mist of grey matter and bits of bone, coating the Brute's fur and face in it. Mercy and Truth were stunned, unable to comprehend the raging Chieftain in front of them only for the pulse of his hammer to throw both of the frail San'Shyum back and nearly off of the control deck. Mercy screamed for his name sake, and Tartarus showed none caving his sternum in with another bone shattering crack. Mercy spat gore as his lungs were smashed under the pure weight of the maul, and the energy pulse cleaved his body in two, painting the ground with his once holy blood. Truth scrambled to his feet trying to get away. Two Brute however barred his path to escape.
"What are you fools doing?!" he screamed, "I am your-" a massive hand clamped like a vice around his head as the taller of the two Brutes grabbed him and held him aloft. He screamed in protest, flailing fragile limbs at the armored Brutes before him, a desperate bid to escape his fate. They approached, with mild caution as Tartarus continued to rage, his hammer smashed into the corpses of the other two Hierarchs over and over again. One merely spoke his name. Tartarus turned, his mind clearing for but a moment. He watched the two Brutes kneel before him, forcing Truth to the ground, painting his face in the blood of Mercy and Regret. And with vengeful glee in his heart, and the fires of vengeance burning hot in his stare, Tartarus brought his hammer down, silencing the lies before him.

Loved this video. I just have a correction to make, and my own thought on what might happen. First, the Halo rings we have now don't protect their inhabitants from the halo firing, save for the Flood specimens that were within special containment. So if Tartarus and Regret fire it, they and anyone on the ring also die.
As for Arbiter vs. Tartarus, even without Johnson, I think he would have found a way to victory, even if at a high price. Thel was a tactical genius and one of the Covenant's strongest warriors. He would have figured out how to either get through Tartarus' shields to kill him or some other way to pin him down long enough for Miranda to grab the Index and stop the firing sequence. Hell, it was Johnson that advised Miranda not to try it while Tartarus was alive, so she might have gone for it regardless if she saw it as the only option. Then if Tartarus is still alive, they make their escape and regroup elsewhere before having their conversation with Guilty Spark about the Ark - maybe Arby makes another shot at convincing him of the truth, maybe not, but I don't see Tartarus coming to his senses here.

I find the idea of that epilogue segment very interesting. I imagine that once the Brutes inevitably realize that the Prophets were indeed lying to them, their immediate reaction would be blind rage. And Tartarus and the other Brutes would probably beat the Prophets to death and rip them apart, which would be a very poetic, ironic death.

Really like the idea of Halo what ifs, there are a lot of interesting possibilities. There's always been one what if nagging at me though. What if Cortana had actually gone crazy in the Alpha Halo's control room, and had betrayed Chief during Two Betrayals. Nothing else about the story or world is changed beforehand, that is the only variable. I think there is room for the series to continue and for Chief to destroy the ring, but Halo 2 and 3 (and by extension the rest of the series) may have gone very differently.

Johnson would have recovered Linda even if Chief hadn't made it. It's possible following their failed raid that she could have been captured in a counteroffensive, opening the possibility for her to survive and be rescued at a later date
The counterassault on Tartarus at the Control Room is one of the most comically overcommitted missions I've ever seen. They have Rtas' Sangheili Special Operations force, a full strength Hunter patrol, rescued POWs, a flight of stolen Banshees, Johnson's fireteam of Marines, *and* a Scarab. Take out those last two and you've got a couple fights that go differently: The canyon run in the Banshees primarily against a Wraith platoon, which is too slow to effectively engage them, and the Tartarus/Regret double boss fight that Thel has to do with no sniper support. This would be hard, but I've literally gotten Rtas to kill Tartarus on his own, so I think they could manage to assassinate them both at once with their guerilla tactics. In fact, Regret's honor guard would probably betray him on the spot as soon as Thel showed up to explain how they've been manipulated
This creates a timeline in which Thel goes on to basically solo Halo 3 and assassinate Truth, Miranda dies like normal... until we get to Cortana. With no copy of the Index, he would have to spend all of *Halo 4* racing against the Flood to retrieve *another* Index from Installation 04B and fire a local pulse, an idea that originated from Guilty Spark. He would probably want to take Sangheili Special Operations with him, leaving that ODST squad to pull security on the Ark's control room against Brute holdout forces still loyal to Truth's dying order. It's very possible they world get temporarily overrun, leaving Thel to juggle missions across both installations at once. He solos the Guilty Spark boss fight, fires the Halo, and gets the hell out of there. Timeline has been saved
If the Halos were fired, the Spartan IIIs inside the Onyx Shield World would also survive. Now, my memory is a little shaky on Halsey's involvement there, so someone help me with this: Can they still make it out to see what kind of galaxy they've woken up to, or do we need a timeline in which Halsey survives for that to happen? There's also a small possibility the Spirit of Fire was inside the shield radius of the Ark by that time. I have to assume Mendicant Bias was somehow involved in its teleportation and deliberately chose that destination to influence the events there in the event High Charity's containment was under threat of being breached. Can Halo pulses reach the occupants of ships that are currently in Slipspace?

14:54 He didn't even think about that in the regular timeline when he had a lot more to lose. Why would he do it in a timeline where he's in complete control?
Immediately after the ring fires, the Covenant would lose High Charity, all three prophets, Tartarus, the Brute fleet and most of their armada. Humanity would still lose, but the Flood would as well, unless they could quickly scavenge a ship and some coordinates to an occupied world.
Also, Johnson's squad would absolutely not make it to the Ascendant Justice. It was only through the use of two ships and Cortana that they could even get through the shield to land.

    • @Altigue
      @Altigue 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

Regret would have sided with the elites, he was conspired against by truth just the same. It was simply convent that he could blame it on the Chief and the lack of Elite’s ability to protect him. Truth had the coordinates to earth and his secret fleet that he “conveniently” forgot to tell the other two prophets, thus allowing Regret to charge in with no clue what he was stepping in to and also with minor amount of ships to defend him? Nah, Truth was HOPING he would get curb stomped on earth, and when he didn’t and found Delta, Truth had to swiftly conjure up a backup plan when he realized that there would be a huge tensions arising had Regret made it back on board to High Charity and somehow found out that he was led astray by truth intentionally. It was mere chance that Chief arrived to assassinate him, and also Truth’s saving grace. He had a true person to blame for this incident, he had a reason to displace the Elites, and also there was now a power vacuum he could gobble up.
As for delta halo not going to the Ark, well, the flood wouldn’t have been able to use the ring for anything because they are not humans, despite having access to human biomass and combat forms, those weren’t enough. The only/most convenient way off Delta was through in amber Clad, and, seeing in space High charity and the convent in the midst of Civil War, jumped at the opportunity to infiltrate Charity, overrun the two already fighting factions, take over High charity and turn it into a Hive (thus making them a serious threat to all of the other factions in play), and to cap it all off, they had a gigantic mobile platform/city that had FTL travel capabilities. The gravemind bypassed assimilating Earth as the flood didn’t have the time for all that given Truth was now extremely close and very much capable of firing the Ark, so he goes straight to the ark to fight alongside elites and humans to stop truth, hoping that, in doing so, he now had free reign to consume the rest of the galaxy.
And he’d have gotten away with it too, if it wasn’t for those meddling kids, and their stupid sangeili too.
Even if they could control Delta, they would not have known the coordinates to the Ark. the only way they were able to find it was through locating earth once they hijacked Charity, traveled there, then saw the portal to the ark and slipped on through.

  • @lordofgingers
    @lordofgingers 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

I think a cool alternate timeline would have been Halo 1 successfully went off without a hitch, but first strike failed or didn't happen. Then, great schism doesn't happen. Chief fails to get to Regret, retreats, but still stops Tartarus with Johnson's help. High charity already bugged out so no infection. They return to Earth and instead, Chief plans to destroy the portal before they activate it and succeeds. Horrified by the second destruction of a holy artifact, the full might of the covenant bears down on Earth and a fall of Earth scenario plays out.
From there, the UNSC is forced on their back foot and fights the Covenant in guerilla style tactics. Cortana is deactivated in 2557. Atriox and top Banished leadership are also crushed, and all Banished resources are absorbed back into the Covenant fold along with their technologies. The UNSC, with the resources they still have, manage to create the post-war technologies we see in the main canon, such as Spartan IVs, Infinity, reverse engineered covie tech, etc. They have poured everything they can into this war as their last hope for humanity.
However, nobody would havd expected what came next. In 2561, the Covenant discovered Requiem and discovered the Didact's cryptum. Covenant scientists were able to decipher old forerunner glyphs to figure out what they found. Using a human prisoner, the Prophets of Truth, Mercy, and Regret, in a religious ceremony, freed the Didact. Under the Didact's instruction, the next 10 years were spent amassing resources that were taken from the rings, including the composer and in time, Genesis was also found. Seizing the domain, the Didact's forces found the Warden Eternal and seized the guardians as well. With absolute control of the galaxy's treasures, the Didact/Covenant coalition hunts down humans, either composing or eliminating them and glassing the worlds after.
In 2575, there is one final world that everyone throughout the Orion Arm flocked to. The guardians quickly disabled the fleet that the Covenant destroyed soon after. A last stand 50 years into a war humans fought valiantly, chief dies at the age of 64. Countless spartans fall in battle and the remnants of humanity follow suit in a brutal ground campaign. When the Prophets declared the world conquered, the Covenant/Promethean forces evacuated and the last colony of humanity became glass.
Years later, the secret of what humanity really was, died with the prophets of natural causes.

    Merry Christmas HiddenXperia!!

I love the idea of exploring what if scenarios. And i think this is mostly fanservice, but i just recently finished a halo reach legendary playthrough and would love to know what would happen if noble 6 survived, was able to meet us with halsey/jun and escape. Could be cool.

I really love these kind of videos and can't wait to see more.
I think some cool ideas would be what if: Noble 6 didn't need to man the MAC gun, Sgt Johnson wasn't killed by the monitor, and what if certain SCPs were found on the Halo rings instead of the Flood (i don't know what the best fit would be).
I love your videos already but this makes me even more excited to see what you're cooking up!

I think the Banished would become a thing, with the leader being Tartarus after he kills the prophets.

What If on Halo 3's final mission the portal on the Ark sends the Forward unto Dawn carrying Master Chief, Cortana and Arbiter (all together, two or one depending if the ship splits or not) A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away . . . . Star Wars (or to be more specific at the start or little before the Phantom Menace or New Hope) See more of the story below!?!
This is a work in progress! but feel free to take, edit and use in your final draft if you wish, just a small mention/credit of what I may have contributed will be fine with me :)
SWPM option 1, Arbiter: The front half of the Forward unto Dawn carrying Arbiter teleports into the Star Wars galaxy at speed, passes the CIS blockade, who are left wondering WTF was that, but of course turn their attention to another approaching ship ( Qui Gon Jinn / Obi Wan kenobi journey stays the same for now ... ) Arbiter crashes into the ocean or large lake on the planet of Naboo, after salvaging what he can and escaping the sinking wreck Arbiter sets off in search of civilization ... only at first to find Jar Jar Binks !?! ... After setting up camp for the night and having something to eat ( either human ration packs salvaged from the F.U.D | or some form of creature that Arbiter would be able to catch/eat ) lured by the smell of food Jar Jar " Attempts " to sneak up! ... Only to get caught (detected via Arbiters hunter/warrior senses ... that or his motion tracker) after a lot of begging/bargaining Arbiter takes pity on him and offers Jar Jar a deal, guide him to the " Human " capital of Naboo in exchange for food/protection (Jar Jar of course would accept this offer, what with being banished from going home for being clumsy) along the way perhaps they'll find a crashed but still operational warthog (which is worse, trusting Jar Jar to drive or shoot !) after some driving they come under attack from scouts of the droid invasion followed by the JEDI who come to their aid and ... could also appreciate a ride ... ( JJ will likely call Arbiter " Arby " for short throughout the story )
SWPM option 2, Chief / Cortana: The back half of the Forward unto Dawn carrying Chief / Cortana teleports into from their perspective a unknown region of space! Cortana of course will start running scans of the area and drop a beacon for potential rescue (for about 4 years, 7 months, 10 days she won't be suffering from rampancy yet) ... oh would you look at that its the ship that Qui Gon Jinn/ Obi Wan kenobi are traveling on, after some basic introductions / explanations the JEDI will ask if MC/C would like to accompany them to the planet of Naboo or wait for another ship to give them a tow
1a) if they stay some time later the JEDI will send a message saying the CIS have just attempted to kill them, rather than being sitting ducks, Cortana uses what control they have over the F.U.D to steer it to Naboo for a controlled crash landing then using a escape pod.
1b) if they leave with the JEDI, the F.U.D will be left behind for now, will it stay adrift in space, get caught in Naboo's gravitational pull and crash there!) When arriving at the CIS blockade MC/C will have another two choices
2a) Stay in ship until what should be " short negotiations " are over! ... outcome: ship gets blown up with MC/C just about escaping the blast or rises from the wreckage like a Demon to the bewilderment of the battle droids
2b) Join the JEDI in the meeting to introduce themselves to this new galaxy or pretend to be acting security! ... outcome: oh boy, if the CIS were spooked about JEDI showing up in the original story, what are going to think Chief is ... Mandalorian perhaps ( they won't know anything about Cortana yet ) When Lord Sidious gives the order " kill them immediately " so the CIS blows up the horse they rode in on and " try " to gas the JEDI / Chief ... pfffft ha ha ha ha HAHAHAHAHAHAHA cue the song (Unyielding Soul) whichever scenario plays they link up and fight their way to the bridge (If Cortana can hack Covenant/Forerunner tech I'm sure she won't have a problem with the tech in Star Wars ... assuming there is a control/access port they can hack close by? to open the blast doors) unfortunately droidika's with their shields may still be problematic leading to the group needing to sneakoff the ship!
SWPM option's 1/2 combined: When combining these perspectives most details stay the same, with the exception of Chief / Cortana telling the JEDI that Arbiter is about to crash-land on the planet of Naboo (or already has) they'll also be able to keep in contact with Arbiter via COM's until the CIS blocks communications!

On Lord Hood, I don't think he would have been in as nearly a vulnerable position as he is in Halo 2 due simply to the fact that there would be no award ceremony to attend, and thus no reason for him to be aboard said station. The bomb thing likely would have been deduced the moment the Malta went down either way, but without the Chief there to repel boarders, it would have had a better chance of going off.
As for Tartarus, I believe he would come to realize his mistake once the ring failed to grant him the godhood he was promised, and might well plot to betray the Hierarchs as a result.

Cvief died at the end of halo 3 when 343 started making halo games.
But seriously, they should get the voice actor to record enough so we can use his voice once he passes away.

Here's an idea: what if the Arbiter never became the Arbiter? Truth and Mercy talk about the Covenant's Council wanting him dead, so what would happen if they got their way?

Really great video! There are a couple issues that I might see with how this would play out though. Miranda wouldn't even know to contest the activation index because the information that Cortana had from alpha Halo would have been lost, plus they couldn't bring high charity to Earth because once the anodyne spirit departs I'm pretty sure it didn't have the power to even move itself let alone jump through slip spaces.

When Tartarus realizes hes been duped, i could see him rampaging and killing the prophets. I am interested in how the Banish affect all this tho. I will say if the prophets somehow saved the species in the convenant or at least seeded them, then they take the mantle for themselves, all just to fumble it and EVENTUALLY get cucked by the flood.

I love this! What if Noble Six boards the pillar of Autumn at the end of Reach? Emile doesn't get killed by the elites and is able to cover their takeoff so Noble Six and Chief leave the planet together bound for Alpha Halo.

Would Hood be on the MAC platform if there was no Chief or Johnson to reward? After all that's why, besides the normal crew, everyone is on the Cairo.

This is a great breakdown of events, but I can't help but notice something. The gravemind was on delta halo, if it wasn't on high charity by the time it fired, like mentioned in the video, the gravemind would have simply been killed.

11:07 You missed that Regret wouldn't have been able to jump in atmosphere. The covenant learned that from Cortana after the covenant AI leaked it to them after returning the Reach. Also Miranda would have never been in the Cairo. She would not be receiving her father's award because no one knew what he did in Halo CE. Still love the idea for more videos like this.
