  • Barks like a .308 but kicks like a .22 just about says it all. The SJC Titan Compensator is an excellent choice for 3 Gun. Great sound, Great looks, reduces muzzle flip and reduces recoil all for $90!
    You can get them right from SJC:

    Thanks for the great review! It swayed me in favor of the SJC. Just got it delivered today, heads up if you order direct from SJC they don't supply a peel or crush washer. I hear Larue and others do but they were back ordered. My local shop had washers in stock so not a big deal. Installs easy can't wait to hit the range here in the PRC ( Peoples Republik of California).

    Thank you for an actual review of this product... I have never used a brake before this will be my first one after a lot of vague research this video just confirmed that I will order this one!

    Awesome comp!!! The flattest shooting comp on the market, and in some cases the loudest lol. It's a must, and run it on my Double Star .. would run nothing else but SJC Titan

    I just picked up one of these to shoot Heavy Metal division this year. It really does increase the speed on doubles.
    The only think about it I don't like is that unlike all of the videos and pics I've seen, mine is gloss black, which I'm not crazy about. Might make it easier for cleanup, but looks odd. Otherwise, great comp.

    • @minnesota3gun
      @minnesota3gun  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Never seen it in gloss black... Hmmm... that kind of misses the point on the cool industrial look of the comp. Either way its a great piece of gear. Good luck this year!

    There was a test that showed this comp reduced recoil by 78% over a standard non-compensated barrel.

      I had one put on my rifle when I lived in Cali. It came with my rifle to the gun shop where they did the background check, and there were no problems with the comp.

      Spencer Luna Since it has a flat front it should be legal so long it is pinned and welded (soldered counts as welded, but make sure you have the paperwork on that law)

    • @VengeanceIV
      @VengeanceIV 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Justin Treon ...? You only have to pin & weld if your barrel is

    Ok, Bad experience.... First I bought the LUND/SJC .223 TITAN COMPENSATOR for my Tavor X95 because I wanted to get rid of the jump and wanted to get back on target quick and the reviews seemed to be good. Put it on went to the range and took a few shots and the blow back in my face from the ports is ridiculous!! Most likely its because the Tavor X95 is a short gun but there is no way I can use this thing, not to mention the people on the benches next to me complained an left because the gas that comes out of the side ports at least reaches 4' on each side. Also, I had a bird cage and I think it was better or maybe the gas blowing in my face and pissing everyone off at the range was doing it. Anyway, long story short I called S&J CUSTOMS, LLC. and the guy which im guessing ran the place from the way he talked to me pretty much said FU and he said your stuck with it since you used it im not taking it back so REMEMBER if you want to piss everyone off at the range or wherever your at and get gas in your face buy this piece of crap!

    • @TheARguy15
      @TheARguy15 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Works fantastic for us who go to BLM land. nobody for a few hundred feet on either side. Another reason to avoid ranges imo. Sorry youre stuck with it. I'd be happy to take it off your hands if you wish.

    • @SoggyCashew
      @SoggyCashew 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the offer Im just going to put it on my Windham AR-15, I put one of those Slide Fire stocks on it for fun Ill see how it does. Around me I have one outdoor range so I have no choice and there are only 10 benches at each range (rifle, pistol, shotgun)

    • @minnesota3gun
      @minnesota3gun  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That totally sucks... Okay, sorry to hear about the customer service issue. This is good to know. As for the practical application of all compensators. I can see the issues with the bull pup but it is possible you can mitigate some of this with gas settings. I don't know enough about the Tavor to make specific recommendations. I do know that there are a handful of pro shooters like Kelli Sampsel that use a brake on them. Might be worth shooting her a note on FB. When I sight in any of my rifles on a bench (something I do as little as possible) I realize that the brakes suck for the other shooters and find a place or a time that I can get the work done when other are not around. Calling it a piece of crap because it didn't fit your personal need may be harsh but I certainly get it - your not happy. Thanks for taking the time to comment and add to the base of knowledge.

      @SoggyCashew 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Alex McPherson might as well put it in the bag it came in after that day. was going to put on my AR because the barrel is further from my face but that still isnt going to fix the pissing everyone off at the range fact.

      That is an 18" KRK match Barrel with a mid length gas system under a Midwest Industries SS 15" forend. Thanks so much for watching!

    • @Finnv893
      @Finnv893 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hawkeye Ordnance mid length vs rifle length, standard carrier vs light carrier, adjustable gas vs standard gas block, jp buffer and spring vs whatever hes got, i dont think this is a fair comparison, even though we know for a fact that the titan is more effective, still a test with more control variables would be a lot more persuasive.

      chaopz You are absolutely right. The footage came from a day I was shooting with a friend. I just happened to end up with some side by side footage to show. I suppose I should have been more clear about that. I really appreciate you pointing this out for the other viewers.

      Rhodes1966 it is incredibly loud but hugely efficient. This video is a few years old now and there are far more options today.

    Just got mine and the wrench left marks on it when I installed it. Poor finish and poor quality, will see how it performs in few days.

  • @paintballhallic
    @paintballhallic 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    I just got this and I wanted to know how you put it on? There is no place for a wrench and it doesn't come with a crush washer. Did you use channel locks or a screwdriver?

    • @minnesota3gun
      @minnesota3gun  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      You need a crush washer for sure. As for tools I use a 3/4 open ended wrench. Seems to leave the least marks. Get over to Brownells and order the crush. You will have it in a couple days.

    Do you have anything else done to the rifle to reduce recoil like low mass bcg, buffer, adjustable gas block or just the compensator?

    • @minnesota3gun
      @minnesota3gun  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Zach, this video is pretty old at this point. There are so many options today depending on what you intend to do with the rifle. These days I am using a Hipercomp, adjustable gas, full mass carrier and JP Silent capture spring.

    • @lovelessjl
      @lovelessjl 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just installed the m4-72 on my rifle, it does an amazing job with recoil management, but it is punishingly loud from behind the trigger. Seriously considering either the SJC or the Rolling Thunder to replace it. Hopefully I can find someone running each and take them for a test drive.

    • @minnesota3gun
      @minnesota3gun  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Christopher. Great question and the answer is no here and likely no everywhere else. The truth is this review is old and there are some many awesome options these days and they are all pretty effective. If you dig the concept, brand or look of a certain comp - go for it! Don't get too caught up in the numbers, they really aren't that valuable.

      MrAvail18 Sorry for the delay brother! It is close to 3 inches long. There are so many good comps out there now. When this video was made the options were far more limited. Lantau makes a fine brake. Here is one of the best articles I have seen on the subject:www.multigunmedia.com/pk-compensation.pdf
