@@HipyoTech So when's the next mod? Like no joke what so ever, your videos are so chill and the production quality is awesome. btw I bought the SK61 and can't wait to mod it.
Just paused the video to share you are BY FAR my favorite keyboard channel on YT. I've been watching and researching for a while now and just took courage to started modding/building recently. I've watched an UNGODLY amount of YT MKB videos and you are my favorite. Thank you for your informative, soothing and lighthearted videos! Keep doing what you do, wish you the best of success!
I just bought this keyboard today and almost regretted it cause I can’t use the Kailh cream switches on it but seeing this mod, I don’t regret it anymore. Can’t wait to start working on it! Thank you!!
Nice! He even mentioned his strong rock climbing hands! I got this keyboard as my first mechanical keyboard 4 days ago and was wondering how I should mod it, thanks for the video!
That's a pretty big difference. This is very similar to my board and I'm still trying to work up the courage and patience to do these mods and a few others to it. I might even order some new springs because even though I have the black optical, I'd honestly like a bit stiffer feel to them...hell, even considered making some Frankenstein switches due to the lack of options out there for opticals.
I have this board, they started adding foam underneath the space bar and at the bottom of the case too so you don't have to take it apart any more to do that! I was doing so and lifted up the plate and saw the foam underneath so just put it back on. I've got the brown switches and I lubed them with tribosys 3204 they feel great! Also ordered some durock stabs though the stock ones aren't rattly at all I think they updated those too on the newer boards.
Why do I like the sound of opticals better than mechanical switches? Man there is something amazing about the sound and feel of my lubed optical gateron reds.
I just picked up this same board. I think I'll take your advice on the stabs. This will be my first optical board and I'm so freaking excited. I really like the colors in that mojito set but I am in a phase of trying other keycap styles--specifically those with spherical dishes. Unfortunately there aren't that many options. LOL.
Slathered my keychron K3 reds in krytox recently and was blown away by the difference, legit can't hear the keys at all unless I stop breathing and it's midnight Lubing should be mandatory
I don't know what it is but the sound difference is amazing! I have the same board and I tape modded it and added some pe foam and it sound soo much better. Just waiting for lube now :))
@@kaiyusugiyama1947 on the blue switch stem, there is a white plastic piece. You take that off. I think this only works for optical switches though, so if you dont have them I dont recommend it
TH-cam recommended really just looks right into what I'm thinking sometimes and recommends me just what I was thinking about... literally thought to myself "Damn, I wish I knew how to lube and upgrade my mechanical keyboard" and here I am, 2 minutes later🙂
@@a_nyccc in the end I decided to buy a gk61. I bought an aluminium case and carbon fiber baseplate. And I bought some keycaps, I also foam modded it and swapped the stabilizers
@@HipyoTech can't wait I just ordered the sk61 with optical blacks I am ordering everything you used I was told you couldn't lube optical switches, I am so exited 😁
any idea if thin upholstery foam would work? I'm getting this keyboard on Friday and excited! it's my second mechanical keyboard but won't be my last im sure
@@HipyoTech I suggest just using youtube's captions. That way it adjusts the size depending on your monitor and people can change the size, colour, and font themselves in the caption settings. And it can auto-translate it! TH-cam captions are just better all around instead of editing them onto the video :)
I have the sk71s would you know where I could find a good keycap set for it I would want to switch them so they have pass through caps for the rgb it’s a 65% with a numpad
I hear optical switches tend to feel hollow and fake compared to traditional mechanical switches. Do these mods improve the feel of said switches and make them feel less "fake"?
Not too sure why people say they feel hollow or fake, personally I think they feel better stock than most switches. The mods made them feel really good and I like them as much as my Gateron yellows.
I want to see some Blitzwolf KB1 mods. You asked in the video. It`s my brand new keyboard, and I wanted to know what could I make with it. I think its not hot swappable. I got mine with gateron browns
that's how i always lube plate stabs haha. i like it so for me it's good.. several years ago i bought a couple of cherry stabs from community member Faxe here in EU.. and i'm happy with them.. don't know if there are better plate mound stabs these days.. i really should look in trying to mod these a bit better.. the bandaid mod vs the films you can buy on Aliexpress there are sum clear ones and the black ones.. perhaps i try the clear ones they are a tiny bit softer from what i can see. but the bandaid mod accepts lube/greas so perhaps that's better.. i also saw a vid adding sum material inside the stabelizer housing to minimize the space the wires have to move / rattle.. perhaps that's something ?? thanks for your vids love the content..
Don't the stabilizers sound a bit mushy? I am planning on buying one of these and modding them, do they really sound that mushy or is it just youtube? Do they even feel mushy at all?
I have a few questions, should I lube the stems of the stabilizers? Also should I lube all sides of the bottom housing or just 2. And should I lube all the sides of the top housing or just the two that you showed
Damn my guess would be that this board is similar to the kemove dk61 pro and since I just ordered im pretty hopeful that it's Gonna sound good with mods
i'm planning on copying the creamerons but i have gateron optical red. is it physically possible to but a cream stem, spring, top housing to the gateron bottom housing?
