✅ About AEA Ribbon Mics & Preamps:
AEA Ribbon Mics and Preamps is family owned and operated in beautiful Pasadena, California. Proudly independent, we still manufacture all our microphones by hand right here in the United States.
Since the creation of the R44C in 1998, AEA has expanded into designing and building new ribbon microphones, each with a unique application and function, using the same RCA traditions. Over the years, AEA has advanced ribbon technology, using new materials, updated manufacturing techniques. The company now makes a whole line of ribbon mics that can be configured to give a group of musicians a unique sonic signature.

Singer-songwriter, Margaret Glaspy and instrumentalist Tyler Chester deliver a potent rendition of Sarah Siskind’s ‘I Do’ with AEA’s new supercardioid KU5A on vocals and amps. Bathed in the soft light of the chandeliers at Hollywood Forever’s Masonic Lodge, Glaspy sings Siskind’s words of slow healing in the wake of a relationship’s end.
The KU5A is the ideal ribbon microphone for vocals because of its acute directionality and extended top end. As a near-field ribbon with restrained proximity effect, it is also highly effective on speaker cabinets. The KU5A is featured on guitar, keyboard amps and vocals for this session, as well as the near-field N22, which captures the fullness and detail of the bass amp. AEA make the world's most enviable microphones, bar none. Each mic has so much character - COMBINED WITH musicality. And that's a rare feat! 👌
Listening to a condenser microphone after listening to their microphones, feels like rubbing your ears with a brown sugar swizzle stick! 😖

Would it be possible to hear the isolated KU5A from a live session where other instruments/vocals are in the room? Thanks!

Don't know why you guys decide to make the cable fixed and charge like 50 bucks for a shit ass clown nose. And yes, the mic is overpriced. Anything this mic can do, mics like SM7B, or LS-208 can also do it the same or better at fraction of the cost. Not sure why they can't lower the price and the clown nose. Great mics, but it should have been in the range of SM7B. I regretted buying this.

No, the SM7B cannot do the same as what this mic does.

If you're demonstrating the ribbon mic and the preamp, then why is recording drenched in reverb? It seems to me that anybody wanting to hear this gear wants to hear it. Was AEA forced to use reverb, because the artist insisted? If not, then this is cheating. Shame on you if that's the case.

To me its nice to hear a mixed version, to hear what it sounds like when pushed in the mix.
