You go spend some time driving in Germany where getting a License is difficult as hell and expensive and insane mutual Respect of other Drivers is hammered into us, you, like all American Expats i know here in Germany will never want to drive in the USA again.

This test was meant for Kennan and I knew he was going to win. The man doesn't even drive his sports cars with any sense of urgency. He's always careful 😄

Kennan reminds me of a college buddy who has a Saab 900 Turbo S and some kind of Ducati I only saw once. He drove both like a grandma driving her 1963 Lincoln to church. And yet he managed to crash both. Both at low speed in parking lots.

Doug and Kennan both didn’t do this realistically because in a normal city street, you wouldn’t be able to go that far out or into the other lane. At least Filippo did this in the most realistic manner so props for that.
It is realistic because who in oncoming traffic is gonna wanna hit a Cybertruck? It’s like a tank

It would really interesting to see them do the exact same parking challenge with an equivalent truck (whatever is about the same size proportionate to the spot), so that way we could see if the weird steering is ACTUALLY helpful. While I get it reduces the number of rotations of the wheel, you could also argue that more rotations means more precision in the maneuvering, as well as the fact they’d likely all be so used to doing it anyway. I get that the Tesla steering alters the ratio as you use it, but isn’t that all just for laziness and not precision?
alters the ratio with *speed* (not sure what “with use” means). The speed isn’t fluctuating enough during parallel parking to matter. The size/length are the issue, like any full size vehicle.
@@TheCorteseFamily Right, I get the dimensions like any truck of this class are the challenge. But my main point is considering how much experience we have with normal steering and non-variable steering, could they have done it better/easier/faster with a normal truck?
That's a good Point i didn't think about. I still regularly park Cars where you can actually turn the Wheel more than once but also Modern Cars where maybe you can turn it once
And it's very important for precise Parking so i see that could be a Downside with Cars using that kind of Steering
There have been quite a few Tests regarding Teslas Self-Parking being one of the worst out of all Brands, but that wasn't with the Cybertruck

Agree they should do the test, would be awesome. But I think I can answer your question without the test. You are right, more turns means more precision. However, they did not lack precision at any moment in time. The vehicle went exactly where they wanted (or thought they wanted). They lacked situational awareness (not their fault, it's due to the size of truck in combination with that particular blind spot).
How does that play out in a normal "full" size truck? Does the rear wheel steer add value in this scenario?
Fantastic video Cars & Bids team! It's so cool to see these types of videos come from Doug and friends. One suggestion I have with editing is that the music during the intro was a bit loud. Not enough to the point where I could not hear/understand the dialog, but it was close. The music was fine throughout the rest of the video.

After seeing Doug’s attempt at parking I think you folks at Carsandbricks need to stop referring to him as The Talent.
this hurts me as an Italian. Stupidly big car trying to fit space where could easily be 2 500s and 4 motorcycles parked in 16 seconds.
I picked Kennan at the beginning and started to doubt once everyone started talking. But I knew his OCD would come through.
idea for next time- they each do it isolated, and then together watch the footage of each of them doing it, and there's a real prize or punishment

You need lens filters NOW! The lights in the back are crazy!
You could add a time penalty rule , let's say for every brick knocked down 10 extra seconds in overall time. So for the full destroyed wall it would be like half an hour total time. 🤣
you're not accounting for the couple of feet on either side of the adjacent spots where the other cars would not be right up on the line. So, it you had 1-2 feet extra on either side, it would have been easier and more real-world...but this was fun
Additionally they should have built the brick walls higher to be just as tall as a regular vehicle so they could still see the bricks as a forward reference. Having the bricks that short really does make you blind.

not sure if the truck is still in studio, but if so "big empty parking lot and a trailer back up challenge VS a F150 as it is the most common truck.
I started watching Doug in his silly videos phase (trying to pick up girls in a ferrari, running over a PT cruiser) and while his well-honed formulaic reviews are now the bread and butter of his main channel, I am very glad that the silliness gets to live again - with friends! - on this channel here.
I wouldn't buy anything from them......they put a hold on your account and never release it , there were 20 something bids on the car I was interested in, making the interest on 5,000 plus, making interest the whole time....and smartasses to boot!

So many of those close calls and blind spots would would be eliminated if the truck had ultrasonic sensors in bumpers. The truck diagram on the screen would have told them exactly how far away from the walls. And I say that as a tesla owner with an older model 3 that has USS. They make a difference for tight space like this. Tesla never should have gotten rid of them.
And where's our birds eye camera view, Elon?
Not bashing you guys because you did good, however, you should’ve moved your bricks further forward (if the office had enough space) so you could drive forward as you would when parallel parking, do the turn into your spot in drive, drive out, then reverse. I would imagine that would make all the difference

Steer by wire isn't new or uncommon, and doesn't mean they all have a race car lock to lock. The Cybertruck is steer by wire, and has chosen to have a half turn lock to lock. It has nothing to do with being steer by wire specifically.
These monstrosities will be pulled off the roads. Mark my words. And regulations will change to make sure something like this never gets approved for road use again.
Great fun guys, but Mr. Doug is showing signs of needing to digest a bit of humble pie. Understood that he is building an excellent automobile TH-cam empire, but demeaning the great contributors is growing old.
All 3 of you have obviously lived your entire lives in the suburbs where parallel parking skills are never needed. I spent 3 years living in a gentrified downtown neighborhood where none of these old houses & apartments had garages or other off street parking. So we all battled for on street parking places & your ability to park in a smaller space than anyone else often determined whether you got a parking spot.😮

I kinda wish the rear wheel steering had a lock for this type of maneuver to hold it straight.

I think each of you should have had 3 practice runs before going for the final credit run. I wonder how much improvement you'd see.
Not one mention of how the crazy angled rear-wheel steering affects the tight angle approach, which was mentioned in the Throttle House video to great hilarity.
Either it's very hard to parallel park (which I kind of doubt with 4 wheel steering) or you guys don't parallel park often. Next video needs to be in a manual on a hill, parallel parking.
Really fourtunate for Kennan that nobody backed up into the lounge he stays in when Mildred exits him from the domicile.
The Cybertruck is not enormous it was designed to be and has twice the battery capacity but Tesla decided that they could not make money with it. I will say it was a risky but good call.

I parked a cyber truck in a tight spot once and I had to fix it like 4 times to get it straight before I just made sure it was really straight before I backed up

if those brick walls were actual cars parked in front and behind then the whole blind spot element would have been eliminated because a car is much taller than that brick wall...

What is all that fluid on the ground? Is it power steering fluid? Did you guys just cook the hydraulic steering on a Cybertruck?

I think the bricks should be the height of a normal vehicle because when you’re parking, that’s what you look at to know you’re not hitting the car. With the bricks that low it’s unrealistic.
Their brick wall was probably about the height of my Miata hood/trunk. Seems pretty fair
