Destin definitely is my favourite place to visit. Truly it’s the most beautiful beach I’ve ever seen. Great sand great people and great food! Wish I could come back soon. Love the video, hope you post more of these video.
Just got back from Destin...even though it rained the entire time, we did get some beach time, which was great...but most of the restaurants were a 3 to 4 HR wait for a table...not everywhere but quite a few. My favorite was Louisiana Lagniappe...great service and awesome food
That summer season definitely brings in the rain and longer waits! A few weeks ago when we last visited, we would arrive at some restaurants about 10:50 for an early lunch or 4pm for an early dinner to beat the crowds. Never had to wait more than 5 minutes doing it that way but had to shift our eating schedule a bit!
Look up guys . Weather modification and spraying from aircraft is causing all the rain. I vacationed Destin every year prior to them going full force and it was sunny almost always. Many see it.
Thanks for posting this. My wife and I, are spending a week in Destin, next month. I appreciate that you introduced us to some possible excursions during our stay. You have a beautiful family, and I hope we have as much fun as y’all did! ✌️
Just returned from Destin and Panama City Beach. We LOVE the food and view at the Back Porch Restaurant and the food and view at Harry T’s on the Harbor Walk. Try the Bronzed Mahi Mahi! We married on the beach at Henderson Beach State Park in 2007. It was perfect.
We were just there about 3 weeks ago. Chose to stay in Ft. Walton because of hotel pricing not knowing how bad traffic is to get over the bridges back to Destin. Instead of sitting in all the traffic we chose to go to one of the public beaches on Ocaloosa Island and it was BEAUTIFUL! Also I highly recommend Flippers Adventure’s Sunset Dolphin Cruise! Great value and loved getting to see the dolphins!!
So glad you had a great time despite peak season craziness! We have stayed on Ft Walton side a few times over the years and agree there are some great spots. Have to check out that Dolphin cruise co you suggested one day. Thanks!
We stayed Inlet Reef club (1 time), SunDestin Beach resort (1 time) and Silver Beach Towers (4 times) and next week we are staying at Silver Shells St Thomas building .... Counting down the days ....
Only those who never had kids are eligible to complain about the traffic. Because , traffic is caused by too many people on the planet and all those who have kids are responsible for that. So, no sense in whining when they themselves are responsible for that.
Great job with this video. We’ve lived local for 30 years and vlog all the time in the area for our channel. You really showed some great footage of the area.
Harborwalk village, NOTE! all parking lots are now pay lots. License plate readers everywhere first 30 min free, after that expect an $85 ticket if you did not feed the meter.
Love the video! My husband and I are visiting for the very first time at the Henderson Resort over Labor Day weekend for our 3rd anniversary (and pseudo honeymoon). We were married at the Henderson's sister resort Salamander 9/1/18, never got to do a honeymoon so this is it! I'm super nervous about a hurricane ruining the whole thing. We just want a day of sun! If you could list the top 2 things to really do on a honeymoon in Destin for first timers, outside the resort, what would you advise?
Wow that’s awesome! You definitely picked a hotel with a great romantic restaurant. Be sure to make a reservation at the Beachwalk and let them know it’s your anniversary and 1st time there. For activities, it depends on if you are looking for adventurous things to do or relaxing slow paced things to do. My favorite thing to do is rent a pontoon from the harbor walk (or from True Blue over on the Ft Walton side if you don’t like dealing with boating traffic getting under the bridge.) You will almost always see dolphins in the bay. Anchor on Crab Island and wade in the clear shallow water, snorkel, and soak up the day! If you don’t mind a short drive, visit Pedego store east of Destin and rent an e-bike. There’s an awesome path down 30a that takes you watercolor and awesome unique shops, dining, etc… Date nights at Haborwalk Village and Baytown Warf are nice. To beat the crowds, go early and then enjoy a moonlight walk back at the hotel later. Hope y’all have the best time with good weather!
Enjoy! My number 1 favorite is Silver Shells if you can snag a condo there. It’s next to Henderson State Park so you can walk next door and have most of the beach to yourself! Also right across from Walmart and major shopping and dining. Another cool property we stay at often is Destin West Beach and Bay. They have an amazing lazy River, and access to beach AND the bay. We walked to pontoon rentals next door to visit crab island, and you can also walk to Okaloosa Island boardwalk and peer for awesome food, fishing, and shopping.
I’m here.. beautiful beach..clear water… I’m sure the locals are sick of sharing… just as Italy France and Switzerland residents are…what’s good for the goose…citizens should have more say in what happens to their neighborhoods…
Last time I went to Destin I vowed to never return. Your video of the condo tower lined beaches reminded me of how development has ruined the area. I first found Destin in the 70's, when you could drive along the beach and see the water. Used to eat beachside at Capt. Dave's and The Back Porch. It was natural beauty without the "gotta experience this!" crap. On my last trip (about 2018) I told the souvenir shop employee at Capt. Dave's (new location off the beach) that I was surprised how much Destin had changed and that I'd never return. She agreed, noting the locals hate what it has become too.
I wish we could have seen it back then! Definitely understand where you’re coming from…Down 30A just East of Destin there are a few smaller beach towns we like to visit, but the entire Emerald Coast is definitely crowded! With where we are at in life, we like all the attractions and added experiences the development has brought to Destin. Have you been down south of Sarasota to Venice, Siesta Key, and that area? Same white sand and clear water but with little to no high rises on every square foot of sand.
That's why I don't stay directly in Destin. I stay to the east near Henderson Beach or to the west on Okaloosa Island, both are a very short drive to Destin. I've only stayed directly in Destin once (Pelican Beach Resort), and the beach was just too crowded.
Only those who never had kids are eligible to complain about the traffic. Because , traffic is caused by too many people on the planet and all those who have kids are responsible for that. So, no sense in whining when they themselves are responsible for that.
I'm a born and raised Floridian and I just hate the panhandle from Panama city to Pensacola way to much tourism... you can't enjoy anything anymore.... glad I no longer live in Panama City

Very solid list, nice video! I've been vacationing there for 15 years, it's a solid list. And you are right, May is the BEST time to go.
I also recommend doing the track. It’s super fun for all ages including children and adults!

I'm a local in area, and I agree with some things you said. But you left out the traffic nightmare.
On behalf of all of us tourists, I’m sorry about that summer traffic! It is pretty brutal!

Awesome, Becca! I hope you have a great trip! Give us some feedback on some of the things you got to do. We would love to hear about it!
Thanks. We are planning to visit Destin. Can you list some of the ocean front resorts? Great video.

Thanks for such an insightful video. Would you suggest us to rent a car if we're flying in? Or are things semi-in proximity to Uber.
You 100% need a car for destin. Things are very spread out.
Visited this place once and going again but I was also thinking of buying property there too for Airbnb and a vacation home
That’s amazing! Let us know if you do, we would love to book it out!
💚💚💚
Nice
Going tomorrow 😅

I live here and tourism trashed it ..
@@Auto33333 Well, visitors bring revenue to the State and any government cares only about money.
I LIVE IN DESTIN
Lucky! I bet you can’t wait for us tourists to get back home so you can drive again!
Henderson Beach ⛱️

watch out for the drugs and drunks

Tourism keeps cities alive.
Try Navarre. Much quieter, and right between Pensacola and Destin. It's the last hidden gem along the Panhandle.
Best thing to do in Destin is pass right through it to Panama City! Destin is too crowded, over developed, and grossly overrated!
