Well written song and was a time that Bill actually stood and sang, without all the screeches and jiving. He has a beautiful voice when he grabs a good song and just lets it flow naturally.
Such a beautiful song, I love it when Bill just sings and with out all the screeching, and just let that pure soulful voice out. The lyrics remind me how I feel about Debbie, God I miss her
I miss Bill Champlin and Jason Scheff in Chicago. They are not as soulful without them. remember when this song went to #1 on the AC charts while at Light 97 in Milwaukee...one of my favorites!
This tune is one like no other that I feel so deep in my heart. I get goose bumps n shiver.. LoL, haha. Great job Bill Chaplin, Jason Sheff , Bobby Lamm and all of Chicago!!!
Bill Champlin had the look of a construction worker who had the voice of conviction of what he was singing that matched. That is why Chicago has been so good. They have always had a great ear for what they wanted to say and how to say it.
I am glad I got to see him as part of Chicago on July 17th 2009. It's a shame he left. I wish him well. I love this song and will soon be performing for an audience.
This is the one time I love these vocals , he sings the songs without all the squeels and you feel the passion. The high pitch squeels arent needed. Robert Lamb is great
This hit from Chicago was the 717th #1 song on Billboard's Adult Contemporary charts. I saw Chicago on November 2, 1986, at The Scope in Norfolk, VA. It was my first concert in the Hampton Roads area after reporting for military duty there (US Navy).
This is the Chicago lineup that never got a fair chance. Bill & Jason are amazing on this song, it's a shame it wasn't a big hit for them. It's a crime they aren't being inducted into the R&R HOF with the original 7 members.
I agree Bill had alot to offer Chicago, however Bill always wanted to be in the spot light and seems to be his dream, perhaps it was best for him to follow it. They are all not getting younger. Chicago does need a Terry Kath sound. Maybe a little more strings mixed with the brass. I am just glad they are still out there.
This song speaks to me. 37 years ago...There was someone who I loved...I was kept from this person, 4 years ago, I reconnected to him. He will always be Special to me, even though we might not ever be, together again.
I believe that the other singer, although good practice hitting the Peter Cetera notes in this song. I think this song would have been rated more highly if Peter was singing the lead, as usual
Anyone know if Bill left for good or why he left the group. I know they brought him after Terry part time and then full time after Peter left. Just wondering why he left

dude has a lot of soul! i love Chicago. Saw Peter Cetera in concert last year. it was awesome!

Bill and David brought Chicago back to life in 1982. ZERO gratitude from the founding members outside of Danny and Peter.

Loved the Champlain era of Chicago music just a unique voice
There is no better voice than Bill C. I can only imagine what it must be like to have him sing this just to me. Keep singing Bill. You are the best!

+Vincent S this song is so underrated its unreal...
Great song. Much better than their 80s schlock. Horns unchained!
This song means so much to me. I love Bill Champlin, he's so wonderful. He's gotten be though everything.
+Alyssa Maureen how about the GLORY OF GOD hes real BUT anyway hell ava damn good song..thanxs and god bless
Chcago is the best.... gotta love them. Saw them two years ago in Wolftrap Park (near DC)
Perfect Live performance for me. I love Chicago!
This song should have more "likes", that are in the thousands.
Sweet song
One of my favorite songs, wonder why they don’t play in concert. Loved this song. This one and all roads lead to you.
They don’t have ANY singers in the band now with the tone, soul and power of BC, and the higher smooth virtuoso tenor of Scheffy….Not One…

I love Bill’s voice!
I can imagine Peter Cetera lead on this one. He can sing a phone book and it will be earthshattering!!!!!!! BTW, Jason is trying his best..

+Topwater Tony me too..
I always picture my boo Peter singing this too
This should have been a bigger hit for them.
Number 1 AC CHARTS
gorgeous...
Even tho Peter isnt in this song, its still a BEAST
2:34, Champlin reacts to something the drummer's doing, I think? Wonder what it was.
Voices equal instruments
@yeoGlover
Thanks for your response, do you know about his replacement. I heard him once, He is more of a Boz Scaggs sound to me
@Melon...don't u know that bill champlin wrote lots of legendary hits.. keep on sleeping mate!
Anyone know if Bill left for good or why he left the group. I know they brought him after Terry part time and then full time after Peter left. Just wondering why he left
Bill was fired via Email
This lineup for Chicago is only second best to the original 7.
Still simply magnificent even tho Peter isn't singing
@atp1962 lamm*
i'm too big a fan not to correct :)
No Peter ,but STILL A BOMB

Anything after 1985 is not Chicago.
