- this is probably the last run i will ever do on the tower.
update 2.206 made it so the cursed thorn, the last boss in the secret hollow, only requires 10 hits to kill instead of 14. this was hinted at in geometry dash lite, as it was updated a couple months before 2.206's release with the same changes, probably to test and gather feedback. this obviously saves a lot of time in the speedrun because you don't need to hit the boss nearly as much as before. it also argubly makes the boss less annoying because you don't need to get quite as lucky as before. some players like @Tigger4048 (the goat) already tried lite on mobile before 2.206 and managed to get runs on the secret hollow way faster than any pc runs.
and... i am not happy about it at all. i was dreading the possibility of this change being added to the game, and now it has been. i'm sad and disappointed because it basically ruins the entire history of tower speedruns before the update's release. the chase for the first sub 7 was one which can never be replicated, and to this day my 6:59.850 is STILL the world record for pre-2.206. but now getting a sub 7 is very easy and doesn't require much optimisation at all. i wouldn't have cared if this was the case from the beginning, but now the history of the speedrun is ruined permanently.
the runs from before this version will still remain as the hardest feats by far. and i have no intention to try and optimise this further, im basically quitting. the speedrun itself is gruelling to do and i get so nervous and frustrated at it nowadays that it's simply unhealthy for me. this run is by no means perfect, it's simply good enough for me. im still happy with the people i have found and the positive experiences ive had doing this. @Tigger4048 , @phynn2377 , zyngo, and others are probably going to beat this sometime. 6:3x is definitely possible. but for now, im done. thank you all for watching. - เกม

I'm not a fan of this update tbh. Maybe my opinion will change in the future when it becomes more optimized. But for now, it's just very unsatisfying to do runs. It's just annoying that the old speedruns don't mean much now. Wish this was implemented sooner

@@DecidiousGreensThe update isn't even the problem. It's just annoying that all the work we put in months ago is pretty much useless now. That's why none of us have the motivation to speedrun this anymore. I don't have a problem with Rob updating the boss, it's just unfortunate. Also there really isn't anymore skill involved. The past 3 wrs do 1 or 2 strats compared to the 5 that used to be required for wr. It's just so unrewarding rn

I kind of wish robtop never nerfed the boss tbh, now sub 7 minute times are a lot less of an a achievement than before.

There’s something off about sub 7 minutes being so easy to achieve but at the same time it makes the game better for new players so that’s a plus
