Very solid video! You've earn my subscription. One minor correct: Onyx wasn't a Shield World. The Sarcophagus was, but Onyx was simply an artificial planet.
I think some variety in the architectural style of the Forerunners is not a bad thing. It's very unlikely such a society would universally adhere to a single architectural style. As an example, look at humanity and how many different contemporaneous styles can be found within a single city, and even practiced by a single architect. Having different Forerunner architectural styles, especially for different types of facilities (shield world vs. Halo ring or the Ark and it's portal on Earth) only fleshes them out further imo. It would be a disservice to treat them as a one-trick-pony, so to speak. Although, I do admit I feel more nostalgic for the Bungie- era Forerunner style, probably because it conveyed a sense of mystery better than some of the new stuff. It made the artifacts and ruins seem more aged yet robust. The newer material/ style has a more delicate look to it. That said though, seeing the floating towers in Halo 4 over a massive gorge for the first time was an awe-inspiring experience, and seeing the features of Requiem are still a delight every time I play through.
i totally agree with you, i tend to think of the architecture styles to be associated with the caste system, for example: - Requiem and the mantles approach - military - ark and halo rings - Lifeshapers - other shield worlds and genesis - Builders - the capital (being that it is very ornate) - leader caste i am fully aware that the builders did essentially build everything in the forerunner empire, but i like to think of it that the each forerunner caste 'hired' a builder to build what ever structure/object according to their needs and again i agree with you, the bungie architecture/art style was in fact a, work of art
That was a theory for a while, but I saw somewhere that 343 denied that that was the case unfortunately, and that the new architecture is just a change in art style (I don't have any links, just saw some other people saying it).
The prometheans were sort of Didacts private army, so they should only have been present on Requiem. The Didact had nothing to do with the Guardians and the structures seen in Halo 5, so if what you bring up would be correct, Halo 5 should have had the classic style. I think it would be an interesting theory though.
Prometheans weren't the Didact's personal army, they were created by the Forerunners to protect them against the flood and fight against it (The Flood can't infect Prometheans, so they thought to turn themselves into them to be immune in a way). This ultimately backfired and the Prometheans didn't turn out the way they expected. The art style isn't canonical in any way, seeing as in Halo Wars 2 the Ark uses 343's art style instead of the classic, sadly.
I think your main point is it's not logical to have only Bungie's style, however, your not looking at this from a lore standpoint, a nostalgia standpoint, an iconic standpoint or an architectural/art standpoint. The Forerunners were mainly one combined race under the same government, most common materials were constructed at the same place, and even than, why would certain installations constructed at the same time as others, by the same creator be different? But anyway, the point is, and a big reason why the artstyle is so commended is because it is nostalgic and it holds value, it's recognizable. This new style looks too similar to any other science fiction artstyle, clean, white and glowing. The old style had a tone, a value, like Eckheats said, the new style gets rid of the mystery, the fear of the unknown. But lastly, the style is too busy, too much needless things, things that couldn't possibly have a logical reason for existing. It's overdone.
I loved how you mentioned how amazing it is to see the milky way from the ark. When I was a kid I would stop playing and stare at the milky way. The lesser ark was just amazing.

Of course the forerunner lose their mystery..Halo 1-3 is about covenant, Halo 4, 5, and six Is about forerunner (and now Cortana). The last of Halo shud be about the precursors, but idk yet. It's been keeping faithful so far
I think the big problem is the Prometheans. Their style and art design don't feel very Forerunner like when compared to first 3 games. Now if they were a separate alien race who the Forerunner gave technology to or they reversed engineered the Forerunner tech then they would be perfect. The fact that they are a direct creation of the Forerunner Composer just doesn't sit well with fans. When we originally played the first 3 Halo games we thought when we do see more of what the Forerunner were we would have gotten something that fell perfectly in the current art and concept designs. So to a lot of us the "mystery" was dispelled in a bad way.
I don't mind that at all but I hate how the changed the forerunner's art direction and architecture. The first 3 Halos had their design philosophy as flat, geometric, and sharp, with mellow and subtle blue lights. It felt minimalistic in an alien way. In the 343 Halos, that mellow blue is replaced with a bright neon orange, the geometric designs have been replaced with curves, sharp edges have been tossed out in favor of curved and rounded corners. The design philosophy completely shits on the old ones. Now whether it looks better than the old one is another thing (I prefer the old one imo), but the fact that they completely went against the established forerunner cheesed me off.
How about you people just read for once? Halo 1-3 featured Builder Installations. Halo 4 Features a Warrior-Servant installation with soldiers from the Promethean faction. You people can accept that so many covenant weapons look so different based on who uses them, but can't accept that Forerunners from different castes created different looking weapons, buildings, etc.
Actually going to correct a very minor error you mentioned. You said the Greater Ark didn't create the 7 halos we know, but the original 12 larger halo installations. There is one slight error in this. One of the 12 Halo installations that the Greater Ark did create was the now Installation 07, the last of the newer Halo rings. It was nearly destroyed in the war against the Flood, however, Bornstellar aka IsoDidact was able to save the ring, by getting rid of damaged chunks of it, thus reducing it's size to 10000 km diameter to match the six newer Halo rings.

The different forerunner design styles have to do with the various casts of the Forerunners, and the era in which they were constructed, there are 3 main casts, in order of rank the Builders, the Librarians, and the Diadact/ military cast,
Except Genesis was built by the builders for use by the life workers and yet it looks like the warrior servants design. The forerunners were utilitarian much like the UNSC is now. they made things on a grand scale but in a brutal way. it was a reflection of the mentality of the forerunners as a whole. In addition, the new look of the forerunners is much more eccentric and yet its built by the cast that is supposed to be brutal and much less flashy. It doesn't make sense.
Years ago I'd noticed that they named a ship after the planet or something I'd read one of the novels saying that the unsc actually naming one of their ships after the forerunner planet .
I did like the mystery of the forerunners, but I understand why 343 decided to unveil them as they must have been in a difficult spot continuing the story from halo 3. They couldn't bring the flood back or start another huge war with the covenant because that would have been just cheap. The forerunners was the smart way to move the story forward and still keep it interesting.
Correction- One of the 7 Halo Rings, specifically Zeta Halo, from the Games is in fact a construct of the Greater Arc. After it was damaged it was shrank and repurposed to work with the Lesser Arcs Rings.

Halo: Glasslands is another good book to read, as part of it follows on almost directly from Ghosts of Onxy! The characters spend a large amount of time trapped inside the Dyson Sphere ☺
Imagine a Dyson sphere with its borders rougly between earth and mars. For the sun's light to reach one end it takes about 9 minutes. If you would stand on one point and look at the other point it would take about 18 minutes (remember 9 min for half the distance). This would mean that you are looking ~20 minutes into the past although youre standing on the same object. To give more perspective it takes radio waves between 4 to 24 minutes to reach mars (60m km). Lets be sceptical and it takes 16 minutes between earth and mars for radio waves to travel. Distance between mars and the sun is 240m km. 16*4=64. Meaning it would take (from end to end 64*2=) 128 minutes to talk to someone on the other side of the Dyson sphere. You could be looking at someone talking to you ~20 minutes ago while hearing them say things theyve said ~170 minutes ago.

Hi that is the size of a tiny installation. 9.32 miles, I have seen 1 stop-sign towns that size - this size facility would only house ~3000-5000 persons. I have to agree with apovitos's reply - when you convert that 5 mile plain into the 3rd dimension you have a tiny little thing maybe what would be termed a space a rock not even an asteroid.
One thing you didn’t mention was that not all of the the original 7 rings were made by the lesser ark. Zeta halo (or installation 07) was the only surviving ring of the original 12 so it was made by the greater ark. Sorry just wanted to point this out since you said the lesser ark made the 7
Good video but I'm kind of surprised you have such an attachment to the Bungie Forerunners and an aversion to the 343 Forerunners. There was so little known about the Forerunners under Bungie. There was really nothing beyond their architecture. So, I always felt like there was nothing to really be attached to. It was 343 that really introduced them in the Forerunner series and in their games. The Forerunner series also makes it clear that the Builder class included a large number of builders who competed for projects that were overseen by their leaders. In this way, it makes sense that there would be multiple different architectural designs within their civilization. The series also indicates that a small group of builders in the final period of their civilization was responsible for all the halos and the arks. So, it kind of makes sense to see these structures following one design while other structures made at different times by different builders under different leaders follow different designs. The only fluke is the Halo Wars 2 ark follows 343 designs despite supposedly being the same ark seen in Halo 3. So, essentially 343 just wanted to change the artwork for the games and did it without worrying about the lore. I guess we'll just have to adapt and get over it. That being said, mystery is only good if one at least believes an answer can be attained. Besides, while they fulfilled much of the Forerunner mystery they also added the Precursors which are much more mysterious than the Forerunners ever were as they are credited not only with having big advance structures and all being dead, like the Forerunners under Bungie, but also with the creation, or at least genetic manipulation, of the sentient species, the creation of the flood, and had more advanced technology even than the Forerunners.
I think that the Precursors were a good idea. I think people mistake mystery with dispelling the mystery in a bad way. The Prometheans felt like they should never have been Forerunner or at least had different art/concept design. This may be a stupid analogy imagine if you are in Jurassic Park and it builds up showing glimpse of T-Rex tracks, you see a fresh raptor claw, a triceratops carcass, and suddenly you hear the thump and the water ripples near by and out of a the trees comes a giant Saber Tooth Tiger. The whole art designed built up to dinosaurs and alluded to them. But suddenly new creators are there and they say that InGen was focusing on Ice Age creatures instead. Saber Tooth Tigers are awesome but that is not what I felt like I was being built up too. I wanted to see the Forerunners not Bionicles. I think that they would have gone over better if the Prometheans were a separate race that reverse engineered Forerunner tech and later Didact recruited them since the Flood threatened them all.
Councilor (ones with the large helmets), Golden Armored Zealots and Honour Guards were absolute DEMONS in H2 Legendary. Those Sangheili would most definitely slaughter ARC Troopers.
Hm, I feel like you do have too much anti-new forerunner stuff. The forerunner capital looks more than fine, it looks very impressive and forerunner like. So it's pretty cool. And the domain isn't forerunner, its precursor. And it doesn't feel unforerunner like. You should read the forerunner trilogy. It's great. A mystery is cheap if there is nothing behind the veil.
Ethan Wagner I kind of agree with both. I don't think that 343 has ruined the forerunners by telling too much about them, but just by ruining their majesty. There were several things that made the forerunners so cool in the original games. The way they seemed so far above the human and Covenant conflict, the way the whole story centered on their inventions, and most of all probably the way that you just didn't see them. Their massive structures were empty of life, and yet still functional and significant under the maintenance of monitors and sentinels. Halo 4 pulled the forerunners from their majesty and put them under your boot. Their secrets matter about as much as the Covenant's secrets now.
erickyboo agreed. The story was getting stagnant by the end of 3. It needed new direction. Bringing in the forerunners was a great move by 343, and they get way too much hate for it
They only brought one forerunner back just to make him one of the weakest villains in the game. Then make their creations into enemies of everyone with poor reasons. Instead of making them the most sophistical species and mediators/peacekeepers to restore balance to a fractured galaxy of decades of warfare. But nope, just make them generic robot enemies and now under the control of Cortana.....
Ghosts of Onyx is a great book, it was one of my favorites back in middle school. However if you really want to get to know more about Onyx you should read all three books in the Kilo Five trilogy, Glasslands, Thursday War, and Mortal Dictata. Then once your done with those get Halo Legacy of Onyx, also it's the only halo book to go into detail about what happens when a guardian attacks and how to fight one.
As a Halo fan I have to say I don't see any architectural difference in the other games and 343s games there spot on and some questions have been answered which I wanted but more remain and more have came forward which is awesome.
The Second Fleet of Homogeneous Clarity numbers in the hundreds to possible thousands, a fleet of 27 Imperial-class Star Destroyers and one Executor-class Star Dreadnought wouldn't last very long at all against it. Even adding the Death Star wouldn't help, as the Covies would either find the shield generator OR Slipspace jump under the shield and commence glass/take over of the station. =\
The empire could muster a fleet to fight off the Covies pretty easily, however they were trying to lure the rebels, so they couldn't to many ships to protect the second death star.
its already been proven through math and science that turbolasers are extremely weak compared to a mac round let alone covenant energy weapons...one standard mac round out of a frigate is enough to disrupt and entire earth size planet and render it uninhabitable in real life. A super mac round would be far worse. Then the infinitys mac rounds...well base on the math alone over 3000 times the power of the tsar bomb...while turblasers or least least medium bolts from a star destroyer 2 is only about half the power of the Hiroshima bomb. Which makes sense in cannon considering that was during the time period the most powerful weapon in the world. Now a days I would say that a full power turbolaser would be 150 times the strength of the tsar bomb but we don't really know. It just seems to fit best for how they do orbital bombardments and how they effect the planet etc. Though It could be far weaker or stronger than that most likely weaker...the heavy dorsels on a dreadnaught are probably one of the few armanments that could do some damage to the covenant or the infinity or the new human ships. Other than that no...starwars is far weaker overall compared to halos weapons even the unsc is far stronger. But that's because of the time period difference in creation of the 2. One was based around World war II technology while the other was much farther into the future in its creation and much more solid base on what we had available to us plus the further imagination of science fiction over fantasy fiction.
The art differs due to weathering and time. Places that we're encountering are preserved and being maintained by sentinels. Plus the difference is also due to graphics engines. If I had to choose art style than I personally prefer the Halo Wars 1 and 2 art styles: that deep dark grey with shining blue hard light.
The reason their architecture looks different and changed is because we are going to warrior servants structures now rather than the life workers and builder areas like the rings.
Actually the original 30,000km halos had a greater range but they weren't omnidirectional. They only discharged on either side in a cone shape. They could be used as a directional beam as used to aim at path kethona ( cant remember how to spell it) which was well outside the reach of the new halos.
mae thrillian actually make sense on scientific sense, it’s a multi lair flat earth like environments plus a movable spire that allows the platform to have days and nights, and probably modular connected meaning they can detach easily if needed, make sense perfectly well actually

The image showing Maethrillian as essentially a stack of Flat Earths isn't in conjunction with halo's lore. The individual artist who created such image likely didn't care to be consistent with the source material and wanted to change the design.
I didn't "screw up" the forerunners. They change them it so something slightly different but still very intriguing. If you really think the 343 made the Forerunner's bad, go read the Forerunner trilogy, 3 of the best Halo novels out there.
343 has made something awesome with the Forerunners. They've given us so much history and variation to the characters,etc. I love reading about them and hearing about them. It's awesome.
The Forerunner trilogy is absolute garbage. Totally ruined the history of the franchise and shoe horned a completely retconned narrative into the games.
A continuation to Ghosts of Onyx is Glasslands, which starts a whole trilogoy. Slight spoiler, the first book has a fair number of bits IN the Sarcophagus. I recommend the trilogy it starts, too. Glasslands, Mortal Dictada, and The Thursday War. AKA, the Kilo-5 Trilogy.
I would like to note that the Greater Ark did build one of the seven halo rings in the halo series, originally it was built by the Greater Ark but was stolen by 032 Mendicant Bias after the gravemind made him go rampant, in an attempt to stop Mendicant Bias from using the ring the lifeworkers put the ring on a collision course with the Failsafe Planet to destroy it, it suffered damage and after Mendicant Bias was stopped, the IsoDidact (aka Bornstellar) arrived on the ring and ejected the damaged sections of the ring and after had a diameter of just 10,000km. Once repaired and returned to the Lesser Ark it was renamed Installation 07 and sent off with the rest of the rings, its even mentioned in the novel Halo: Hunters in the Dark that Luther Mann and Henry Lamb (Who were sent to conduct research on Installation 07) tired to find the control room of the ring in the same spot as the other rings but couldn't find it since it wasn't a Lesser Ark ring.

Shadow Of Sundered Star He said non forerunner, which means precursers are acceptable. There mastery of neural physics would make the Nova look like a child's toy. The flood used this (via star roads) to destroy the Greater Ark. Though the NOVA is the best single weapon from the UNSC, but 30 Spartan-IIs are much more better in the long run. The best covenant weapon is probably the Antimatter bomb, or the CSO-class Super carrier
Actually, the Greater Arc DID build one of the 7 halo arrays in the games! Installation 07, or Zeta Halo from Halo Infinite was built by the Greater Arc!

there were 12 of the 2nd generation ring as well some were destroyed though and a few were never found after mendicant bias gave them to the flood when he was infected by the logic plague

The fact that they are a direct creation of the Forerunner Composer just doesn't sit well with fans. When we originally played the first 3 Halo games we thought when we do see more of what the Forerunner were we would have gotten something that fell perfectly in the current art and concept designs.
So to a lot of us the "mystery" was dispelled in a bad way.

I don't mind that at all but I hate how the changed the forerunner's art direction and architecture. The first 3 Halos had their design philosophy as flat, geometric, and sharp, with mellow and subtle blue lights. It felt minimalistic in an alien way. In the 343 Halos, that mellow blue is replaced with a bright neon orange, the geometric designs have been replaced with curves, sharp edges have been tossed out in favor of curved and rounded corners. The design philosophy completely shits on the old ones. Now whether it looks better than the old one is another thing (I prefer the old one imo), but the fact that they completely went against the established forerunner cheesed me off.
How about you people just read for once? Halo 1-3 featured Builder Installations. Halo 4 Features a Warrior-Servant installation with soldiers from the Promethean faction. You people can accept that so many covenant weapons look so different based on who uses them, but can't accept that Forerunners from different castes created different looking weapons, buildings, etc.
I want to see Abaddon revealed as an antagonist at some point.
Actually going to correct a very minor error you mentioned. You said the Greater Ark didn't create the 7 halos we know, but the original 12 larger halo installations. There is one slight error in this. One of the 12 Halo installations that the Greater Ark did create was the now Installation 07, the last of the newer Halo rings. It was nearly destroyed in the war against the Flood, however, Bornstellar aka IsoDidact was able to save the ring, by getting rid of damaged chunks of it, thus reducing it's size to 10000 km diameter to match the six newer Halo rings.

The different forerunner design styles have to do with the various casts of the Forerunners, and the era in which they were constructed, there are 3 main casts, in order of rank the Builders, the Librarians, and the Diadact/ military cast,

Except Genesis was built by the builders for use by the life workers and yet it looks like the warrior servants design. The forerunners were utilitarian much like the UNSC is now. they made things on a grand scale but in a brutal way. it was a reflection of the mentality of the forerunners as a whole. In addition, the new look of the forerunners is much more eccentric and yet its built by the cast that is supposed to be brutal and much less flashy. It doesn't make sense.

Years ago I'd noticed that they named a ship after the planet or something I'd read one of the novels saying that the unsc actually naming one of their ships after the forerunner planet .

I did like the mystery of the forerunners, but I understand why 343 decided to unveil them as they must have been in a difficult spot continuing the story from halo 3. They couldn't bring the flood back or start another huge war with the covenant because that would have been just cheap. The forerunners was the smart way to move the story forward and still keep it interesting.
Correction-
One of the 7 Halo Rings, specifically Zeta Halo, from the Games is in fact a construct of the Greater Arc. After it was damaged it was shrank and repurposed to work with the Lesser Arcs Rings.

Halo: Glasslands is another good book to read, as part of it follows on almost directly from Ghosts of Onxy! The characters spend a large amount of time trapped inside the Dyson Sphere ☺
Imagine a Dyson sphere with its borders rougly between earth and mars. For the sun's light to reach one end it takes about 9 minutes. If you would stand on one point and look at the other point it would take about 18 minutes (remember 9 min for half the distance). This would mean that you are looking ~20 minutes into the past although youre standing on the same object.
To give more perspective it takes radio waves between 4 to 24 minutes to reach mars (60m km).
Lets be sceptical and it takes 16 minutes between earth and mars for radio waves to travel. Distance between mars and the sun is 240m km. 16*4=64. Meaning it would take (from end to end 64*2=) 128 minutes to talk to someone on the other side of the Dyson sphere. You could be looking at someone talking to you ~20 minutes ago while hearing them say things theyve said ~170 minutes ago.

Hi that is the size of a tiny installation. 9.32 miles, I have seen 1 stop-sign towns that size - this size facility would only house ~3000-5000 persons. I have to agree with apovitos's reply - when you convert that 5 mile plain into the 3rd dimension you have a tiny little thing maybe what would be termed a space a rock not even an asteroid.
One thing you didn’t mention was that not all of the the original 7 rings were made by the lesser ark. Zeta halo (or installation 07) was the only surviving ring of the original 12 so it was made by the greater ark. Sorry just wanted to point this out since you said the lesser ark made the 7
Good video but I'm kind of surprised you have such an attachment to the Bungie Forerunners and an aversion to the 343 Forerunners. There was so little known about the Forerunners under Bungie. There was really nothing beyond their architecture. So, I always felt like there was nothing to really be attached to. It was 343 that really introduced them in the Forerunner series and in their games. The Forerunner series also makes it clear that the Builder class included a large number of builders who competed for projects that were overseen by their leaders. In this way, it makes sense that there would be multiple different architectural designs within their civilization. The series also indicates that a small group of builders in the final period of their civilization was responsible for all the halos and the arks. So, it kind of makes sense to see these structures following one design while other structures made at different times by different builders under different leaders follow different designs. The only fluke is the Halo Wars 2 ark follows 343 designs despite supposedly being the same ark seen in Halo 3. So, essentially 343 just wanted to change the artwork for the games and did it without worrying about the lore. I guess we'll just have to adapt and get over it.
That being said, mystery is only good if one at least believes an answer can be attained. Besides, while they fulfilled much of the Forerunner mystery they also added the Precursors which are much more mysterious than the Forerunners ever were as they are credited not only with having big advance structures and all being dead, like the Forerunners under Bungie, but also with the creation, or at least genetic manipulation, of the sentient species, the creation of the flood, and had more advanced technology even than the Forerunners.
I think that the Precursors were a good idea.
I think people mistake mystery with dispelling the mystery in a bad way. The Prometheans felt like they should never have been Forerunner or at least had different art/concept design.
This may be a stupid analogy imagine if you are in Jurassic Park and it builds up showing glimpse of T-Rex tracks, you see a fresh raptor claw, a triceratops carcass, and suddenly you hear the thump and the water ripples near by and out of a the trees comes a giant Saber Tooth Tiger.
The whole art designed built up to dinosaurs and alluded to them. But suddenly new creators are there and they say that InGen was focusing on Ice Age creatures instead. Saber Tooth Tigers are awesome but that is not what I felt like I was being built up too.
I wanted to see the Forerunners not Bionicles. I think that they would have gone over better if the Prometheans were a separate race that reverse engineered Forerunner tech and later Didact recruited them since the Flood threatened them all.

Hm, I feel like you do have too much anti-new forerunner stuff. The forerunner capital looks more than fine, it looks very impressive and forerunner like. So it's pretty cool. And the domain isn't forerunner, its precursor. And it doesn't feel unforerunner like. You should read the forerunner trilogy. It's great. A mystery is cheap if there is nothing behind the veil.

I kind of agree with both. I don't think that 343 has ruined the forerunners by telling too much about them, but just by ruining their majesty. There were several things that made the forerunners so cool in the original games. The way they seemed so far above the human and Covenant conflict, the way the whole story centered on their inventions, and most of all probably the way that you just didn't see them. Their massive structures were empty of life, and yet still functional and significant under the maintenance of monitors and sentinels. Halo 4 pulled the forerunners from their majesty and put them under your boot. Their secrets matter about as much as the Covenant's secrets now.

They only brought one forerunner back just to make him one of the weakest villains in the game. Then make their creations into enemies of everyone with poor reasons. Instead of making them the most sophistical species and mediators/peacekeepers to restore balance to a fractured galaxy of decades of warfare. But nope, just make them generic robot enemies and now under the control of Cortana.....

Ghosts of Onyx is a great book, it was one of my favorites back in middle school. However if you really want to get to know more about Onyx you should read all three books in the Kilo Five trilogy, Glasslands, Thursday War, and Mortal Dictata. Then once your done with those get Halo Legacy of Onyx, also it's the only halo book to go into detail about what happens when a guardian attacks and how to fight one.
As a Halo fan I have to say I don't see any architectural difference in the other games and 343s games there spot on and some questions have been answered which I wanted but more remain and more have came forward which is awesome.

The Second Fleet of Homogeneous Clarity numbers in the hundreds to possible thousands, a fleet of 27 Imperial-class Star Destroyers and one Executor-class Star Dreadnought wouldn't last very long at all against it. Even adding the Death Star wouldn't help, as the Covies would either find the shield generator OR Slipspace jump under the shield and commence glass/take over of the station. =\
Azzy Boy the glassing alone would murder every thing.
The empire could muster a fleet to fight off the Covies pretty easily, however they were trying to lure the rebels, so they couldn't to many ships to protect the second death star.
its already been proven through math and science that turbolasers are extremely weak compared to a mac round let alone covenant energy weapons...one standard mac round out of a frigate is enough to disrupt and entire earth size planet and render it uninhabitable in real life. A super mac round would be far worse. Then the infinitys mac rounds...well base on the math alone over 3000 times the power of the tsar bomb...while turblasers or least least medium bolts from a star destroyer 2 is only about half the power of the Hiroshima bomb. Which makes sense in cannon considering that was during the time period the most powerful weapon in the world. Now a days I would say that a full power turbolaser would be 150 times the strength of the tsar bomb but we don't really know. It just seems to fit best for how they do orbital bombardments and how they effect the planet etc. Though It could be far weaker or stronger than that most likely weaker...the heavy dorsels on a dreadnaught are probably one of the few armanments that could do some damage to the covenant or the infinity or the new human ships. Other than that no...starwars is far weaker overall compared to halos weapons even the unsc is far stronger. But that's because of the time period difference in creation of the 2. One was based around World war II technology while the other was much farther into the future in its creation and much more solid base on what we had available to us plus the further imagination of science fiction over fantasy fiction.

The art differs due to weathering and time. Places that we're encountering are preserved and being maintained by sentinels. Plus the difference is also due to graphics engines. If I had to choose art style than I personally prefer the Halo Wars 1 and 2 art styles: that deep dark grey with shining blue hard light.
The reason their architecture looks different and changed is because we are going to warrior servants structures now rather than the life workers and builder areas like the rings.
Actually the original 30,000km halos had a greater range but they weren't omnidirectional. They only discharged on either side in a cone shape. They could be used as a directional beam as used to aim at path kethona ( cant remember how to spell it) which was well outside the reach of the new halos.
mae thrillian actually make sense on scientific sense, it’s a multi lair flat earth like environments plus a movable spire that allows the platform to have days and nights, and probably modular connected meaning they can detach easily if needed, make sense perfectly well actually

The image showing Maethrillian as essentially a stack of Flat Earths isn't in conjunction with halo's lore. The individual artist who created such image likely didn't care to be consistent with the source material and wanted to change the design.

I didn't "screw up" the forerunners. They change them it so something slightly different but still very intriguing. If you really think the 343 made the Forerunner's bad, go read the Forerunner trilogy, 3 of the best Halo novels out there.
343 has made something awesome with the Forerunners. They've given us so much history and variation to the characters,etc. I love reading about them and hearing about them. It's awesome.

A continuation to Ghosts of Onyx is Glasslands, which starts a whole trilogoy. Slight spoiler, the first book has a fair number of bits IN the Sarcophagus. I recommend the trilogy it starts, too. Glasslands, Mortal Dictada, and The Thursday War. AKA, the Kilo-5 Trilogy.

I would like to note that the Greater Ark did build one of the seven halo rings in the halo series, originally it was built by the Greater Ark but was stolen by 032 Mendicant Bias after the gravemind made him go rampant, in an attempt to stop Mendicant Bias from using the ring the lifeworkers put the ring on a collision course with the Failsafe Planet to destroy it, it suffered damage and after Mendicant Bias was stopped, the IsoDidact (aka Bornstellar) arrived on the ring and ejected the damaged sections of the ring and after had a diameter of just 10,000km. Once repaired and returned to the Lesser Ark it was renamed Installation 07 and sent off with the rest of the rings, its even mentioned in the novel Halo: Hunters in the Dark that Luther Mann and Henry Lamb (Who were sent to conduct research on Installation 07) tired to find the control room of the ring in the same spot as the other rings but couldn't find it since it wasn't a Lesser Ark ring.

Shadow Of Sundered Star He said non forerunner, which means precursers are acceptable. There mastery of neural physics would make the Nova look like a child's toy. The flood used this (via star roads) to destroy the Greater Ark. Though the NOVA is the best single weapon from the UNSC, but 30 Spartan-IIs are much more better in the long run. The best covenant weapon is probably the Antimatter bomb, or the CSO-class Super carrier
