I always do thumbs up when I see Tom's videos, because it is always a good learning opportunity for me. We use flexible porous pipes for drainage which you cannot use if you are going to be running over it with tractors and kit. I will be interested to see how the drain will be repaired.
Tom , don't worry about the gate,gates can be fixed or replaced. Accidents happen, remember what doesn't take a day off? That's right, Danger. I'm sure you could fix it up if you can find a few bits in the scrap metal pile. Excellent job on the shed. 🖒

I'm a First Nations, 63 yr old disabled (polio) lady in Vancouver BC, and I've always gotten an interest in jobs I'd never be able to do or even witness. So thank you so much for sharing your work experiences with those beautiful cows, chickens? goats? or any farm animals. I always feel the need of wanting to hug all your cows. Well I’m glad we weren’t the only ones struggling with wet weather last year. Our farm is in the USA on the east coast and we had nothing but crappy weather for the entire year. The longest stretch of time we went with out rain was 10 days in end of July into august! This year we are catching up a lot
Ah bless Tom your face so reminded me of when I used to pressure wash kennels and stables many moons ago. Not the best look or smell is it. Hope you manage to get the drainage sorted. It'll make a big difference next time you use it for calves etc.👍🎈🎈🎈

Tom you should try zero grazing for the calves while they are inside the shed, it helps then massively with their growth plus you get the most out of the field by not wasting any grass due to trampling, etc. It also helps save the round bailed silage for later in the season.
ian powell it would take the same amount of time as loading a bale into into the Keenan they use and feed it to the cattle..Short term yes it would be costly to buy the Machinery, long term tho it would be better for them as they would have better control over the grazing of fields and ensure no waste of grass due to trampling, etc. plus it gaurentees feed for the calves all year round regardless of the amount of the silage they make, a lot of dairy farmers and beef farmers in Ireland swear by it!

Have you thought about letting the calves out to pasture and feeding the cake from a sheep snacker, works very well for us and the calves are very happy.
Hi Tom we raise about 400 to 500 calves a year and when they get ringworm we spray them with some diesel and within a week or two, the ringworm is all gone. Love watching your videos and kept it up.
we put every year a few bundles of branches of the plant "Ilex aquifolium" in the stable (just just from own garden), since we've been doing this, no ringworm
Always love the aerial shots. Gotta keep wondering. How do you wash your regular clothes that get mucked up. Do you have a special washer just for those clothes?

And at a hell of a cost machinery wise and labour, time wise every day. If your set up for the cows, ok, tom isn't so bit dumb idea?!
