    This is right up my street. I love spinach and okra and it's keto friendly! That fresh hit of bhandania at the end mmmmm 👍😋

    SCOTCH BONNETS... Can’t eat without LOTS of these! Difficulty to find In Devon UK. As a Vegetarian I would devour this with Dhall rice & coconut choka Wife is not adventurous... difficulty!! Yum yum😋😋

      Billy Misir Me too! Use the Indian chilies, they are quite hot. If the wife doesn't want to make it, you should give it a try!

    We make this dish with taro leaves in Fiji and it,s called rourou minus the okra. I thought we got this dish from our native Fijians but after watching your video, i know it was brought by our ancestors from India.You are such a good cook.

    Well done Resh, this is actuallly how I make my bhagi (minus the ochroes) because the dasheen bush we get in Brooklyn isn't so fresh. I go heavy on the coconut milk, I find it gives it a nice flavour.

    • @TasteofTrini
      @TasteofTrini  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      DJ JEL Nice! I like the ochroes because the sliminess gives it the texture of the young dasheen bush. Yeah the coconut milk really does make it taste nice. Thanks for watching, Jel!

    Thanks for this hack. I am making this today! Alternatively, you could have heated the garlic in a calchul with oil, like you would do when making dhal and added it to the bhaji if you forgot it. Also, I believe Sanay is a Hindi word which means "to mix"

  • @catherinemark1215

    This looks more like calaloo and not bhagi. Why ochroes?

    • @TasteofTrini
      @TasteofTrini  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Catherine Mark I agree, but the slime in the ochroes gives the texture of the young dasheen bush leaves. It doesn't taste like callaloo though.

    Firstly you have the most sweet accent. Love it.
    Secondly, intuitively, I would have shouted the okra with the other veg at the start. I guess I’ll have to trust you as the expert. This sounds yummy. Best wishes to you from Sydney, Australia. ❤️

    Reshmi i never call callaloo bush bhaghi home it use to be another plant with a purple stem. What do you refer to as bhaghi i never saw that here not even in queens.. i usually see a Guyanese bhaghi similar to ours but not the same. Can you explain what you call bhaghi

    • @TasteofTrini
      @TasteofTrini  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oneinamillion Callaloo bush is the amaranth leaves in Jamaica. We use dasheen bush or taro leaves to make bhagi and callaloo.
