My Daddy fought in WWII & my Father-in-law fought WWII, Korean & Vietnam War. I was seven years old when my Daddy went to heaven. My Father-in-law died in 1990 he was hailed a war hero & is buried in Arlington National Cementary. Both my Daddy & Father-in-law fought with Valor for America. They gave nothing less than blood, sweat & tears for this once great country. True American Heroes!!
So very true. As a college professor of American History (and a veteran), I am grateful to impart on young people today the very history, the true and correct history, they don't get in high school anymore.
My grandpa stormed a German machine gun nest and was shot 13 times wounded from shrapnel and survived to take out the nest. He never once mentioned it to family we found out after his death in 1983. My grand pa the silent hero. We have no idea what men and women have done for us and our country.
My grandfather served in ww2 and he was the greatest person that I got to be raised by then came the man who I found out was my father served in Deseret Storm and I served in Iraq and Afghanistan both. Now I pray that my own son won’t have to go off to fight a war on foreign soil or here at home. I pray that we all turn back to God and let him lead this land again. Thank you for all the generations that fought before and will salute from my chair for I can no longer stand.
Thank you for your service! I pray that our sons and grandsons won't have to fight but I'm afraid that we are edging ever closer to a war that will bring back the draft.
My daughter-in-laws grandpa joined the army in 1941 at the age of sixteen. He saw a lot of combat at that young age and he wasn’t the only under age solider. That was the generation of heroes.
Such a beautiful song! God Bless our veterans who have given everything to America. I pray she can take what’s happening to her & stand a little while longer.
The Most Important Relevant Song of the Last 50 years. This needs to Go Viral and played in every elementary and high school in the Country. God Bless all those who serve and continue to do so.
I started crying the minute you sat down, and it showed the veterans sitting in your presence. What a powerful song! The honors those who sacrificed so that we may live in the land of the free and the brave! Thank you for writing this song and thank you for singing it. It was amazing!
My dad was with the Big Red 1 in North Africa during WW II He was wounded and carried a piece of German shrap metal behind his heart for the rest of his life. He was my hero!
This is so awesome!!!! John thank you for honoring our Veterans! Can’t stop crying, gonna play this song for my daddy who is a Veteran for Vietnam!!! God Bless and sending so much love to you!!!🙏🏻❤️🥰
As a Veteran of the Vietnam Era. We need more songs like this to bring attention to all here in these United States of American to understand who we are and who we were because of God and our Veteran's. God leads our efforts to keep this as the Grestest Land on Earth. Bless you John.
My father served in WWII as tail gunner for mighty 8th Army Air Force. Flew many missions over Germany. He physically survived but not mentally - died at 80. God have mercy on our country, if not for us, for those who sacrificed so much.
Incredible. It made me think about my brother and what he went through. After my mom passed I was cleaning her dresser, I found the medals he received. Two medals with a V; I never knew. He never talks about it.
I just went to my uncle's funeral his own children had no idea that he was even in the Vietnam war it's horrible that we couldn't even talk about it back then or what they saw thank you man thank you Dad
Happy Veterans Day to all who have served and are serving. God bless the USA. Stand with all my brothers in uniform. Proud 12 year Air Force Veteran. Thank God we have real Americans that sing songs to remind us of others sacrifices.
Thank you for this song. Both my grandfathers were WWII combat vets. My one grandfather continued after WWII and served in Korea. My dad was a Vietnam combat vet and my brother an Iraq and Afghanistan combat vet. I am forever grateful to those who have served.
Singing the Truth - to honor our veterans, military and teach this generation the great sacrifices that were made for our freedom. We must always recognize these hero's and honor them! Ty. 🇺🇸
Love this song; I aplaude the greatest generation of soldiers that fought in ww2. But not only for American’s, also for the Germans, the British, the French. Yes people I wrote Germans. I know how American’s feel about them. But they were human 2. I mean the soldier’s not their leaders. They were forced to fight were brainwashed, but you can say that about any soldier that has ever fought in a war. I know WWII was a great victory for the USA, but it also was a victory for the Soviet’s specially Stalin. I do understand that a world without war is just a dream. But I hope in the name of God, that humans stop viewing other human’s as enemies. And acknowledge at the end we are All brainwashed in to some kind of way of thinking, truly believing it’s the right one or the will of God.
My dad enlisted in the navy immediately after Pearl Harbor. Three of his brother enlisted the same day, for the army. Dad served throughout the war in the pacific, saw some horrible things, lived through hell, most of which he never talked about. When he was dying, he’d say “soon I’ll see the boys again,” and we realized he was referring to his fallen comrades, whom he kept in his heart. I think about him always and try to live the way he taught me, by word and deed, but there are more and more times these days when I’m almost glad he’s not here on earth to see the moral, ethical and civic desolation that are depicted by the media and school systems as normal. Thank you, John Rich, for this beautiful tribute.
Thank you sir my dad was a teenager when he joined the Navy in world war ll he signed his mama's name. Ps my father's name was John Paul Rich... And I still got his dog tags. God bless you sir..
Wow this hit home ! My Daddy and 3 Uncles all served in WWII. One of my Uncles was a POW in Germany. The stories they would tell when they all got together... how I wish we'd had a way to record them. Thank you John for honoring or Veterans !
Okay, I’m crying. My uncle Alfred Leon Schellenger died at the Battle of the Bulge in 1944 and he’s buried there in Spa Belgium, Henry Chapelle Cemetery. This was the most beautiful song I’ve heard you play. Thank you.
As a US Army 21B Combat Engineer veteran who served back in 2005-2006 I was injured during a routine training mission and suffered a severe TBI and was Honorably Discharged
I was born shortly after WW2, most of my uncles served. Myself and my kids dad served during ( him in ) Vietnam, my oldest son served in Germany before the Wall came down, daughter served in the Army during Desert Storm, her husband served(Army) 2 tours in Iraq and 1 in Afghanistan, youngest son(Army) served 3 tours in iraq. So very proud of all of them
You betcha John. Thank you so much for this song. My Dad fought in the Pacific in WWII, along with my 4 uncles and 1 step Uncle. 1 Uncle was in the Pacific and the other 4 were in Europe. Most people just don’t understand, losing WWII OR even WWI, would have meant death to the USA. The Greatest generation are so wonderful, and if you’re lucky enough to still have someone from that generation around, get out your video cameras, start talking to them, record their memories. I have some from my Dad, but very few. Because I always thought there would be time. Guess what, There wasn’t! I cried through this whole song. A great tribute to our WWII Heroes!
My granddad was in the Pacific in World War II luckily he came home my dad was two tours in Vietnam one tour in Thailand and one tour in Korea he also came home thank God. God bless all the Veterans, Service members thank you all for your Service and Sacrifice. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
My great uncle Tolbert is 102 years young and in this video. (2nd from the right front row). I want to Thank him, my dad, and all the veterans who fight and serve our country. You all are amazing people, and I am forever grateful to every one of you!!
Respect to all vets, from one to another. My father was a marine,my grandfather on his side was in the Navy in WW2,my grandfather on my mother's side was a WW2 paratrooper with the 82nd airborne storming normandy, his brother served in the army in korea,my step-grandfather served in the navy,my uncle served in the Air force.I served 3 years as a tank driver in the US ARMY. Alot of better men have bled and died for so many to enjoy being ignorant, now that's a true tragedy......
Still miss grandfather.... WWII infantry died in the early 1990s when i was a young boy due to complications from shrapnel they couldnt quite get. He had hundreds of small scars amd some big ones. One hole was intentional as a dran to get "gunk" out. Ill never forget that all my years, the cost of liberty
My daddy served and fought in the Korea war, I am veteran's daughter and my husband served and fought in Desert Storm and I am a veteran's wife. My father in law served and fought in WW2 and he is still alive at 95 yrs old but lost his hearing during the war loading arterial shells . I am a daughter in law of a veteran. The true war stories I was told by them are not good. But I hold my heart and salute all of the 3 most important men in my life. Thank you to every single veteran in our nation. Thank you for my freedom and protecting this most BLESSED nation. Thank you Lord for bringing them home.
I am 52 years old and I have worked for Thacker Memorial Monument Company for 30 years and about a month ago me , my son who has been working by my side for 11 years " yes I am very blessed because working with my son every day is absolutely a blessing" we processed and installed a unique pair of stones for an elderly gentleman who was a I think late 70s or early 80s VETERAN and when we finished the job I reached out my hand to shake his and told him how much I appreciated and respected him for his service and sacrifice and what he said brought me to tears and still does to this day! Please give me a second to wipe the tears from my eyes. He told me and my son that he appreciates the gesture but it WAS A PRIVILEGE to serve HIS COUNTRY! And I will not lie that hit me like a ton of bricks! What happened to the real men who were proud to be called to defend our Freedoms? This man was so humble that every time I think about his words I start crying like a baby! What has this country become????
John Rich is an extremely talented artist, I love his music, his patriotism, and the way he always stands up for what's right when others quake in fear!!! God bless you, John Rich!!! ♥️🇺🇸🇺🇸
Wow, John, this is so beautiful I’m crying. My four uncles served in WWII. Yes they were the best of America. They never spoke of it. Would never talk about it. All are buried with military honors. Remarkably, they all came home. My aunt even served in the Navy during WWII. She never spoke of it either. My dad and younger uncle served as well. Daddy on a destroyer in the Pacific after Korea. Uncle Ben served in the Army as a pilot. He was shot down over the DMZ in Korea between wars. He was held as a POW in North Korea. He came home after a year, but died in a solo plane crash in the mountains of north Georgia. So I never knew him. My father could not talk about Ben or his service either. The men in my family were the best men I’ve ever known. I would be called Ben had I been a boy. I was born a year after he died. The veterans in my family said, every one, that the heroes were the ones who did not come home. You wrote a beautiful song for your grandfather. God Bless you and your family. I thank every single person who has served this country in war and peace. 🙏🏼🧡💙😪🇺🇸🦅
I studied and was thankful for our veterans. My uncle Purple Heart during WW2. His stories they don’t teach in schools. Same as law enforcement. It’s gotten so bad what they are seeing what they are dealing with is no different than what our ancestors dealt with in war. They see, and do a lot of terrible things, and they are not supported. God bless those who fight evil pray for them, because we need strong souls like them to protect us.
As a veteran from Oklahoma, heard this today for the first time and had tears. God bless ALL of our veterans and the ones who paid the price for our freedom and this country!!!!!!!
I'm an Army brat. Daddy joined the Navy at the tail end of WWII. I don't remember when he joined the Army, but one of Mommie's brothers brought him back from a tour in Germany. They were married in 1958. During his military career he served in several states and did tours in Korea, Vietnam, and Germany. Our family was blessed because he and my brother both served in Vietnam and they came back alive. Neither talked about their experiences over there. Daddy left this earth 10 years ago. My brother is living with my sister. My husband, also, had a career Army man for a dad. I can't thank the veterans enough for serving wherever their commanders tell them to go. There are several of you country artists who write such heartfelt lyrics. I always listen to "8th of November" every year. Thank you for honoring the men and women who live with seen and unseen battle scars.
Always amazed at how you say so much with such concise poetry and melody. Keep writing, keep singing, and thanks to all the men and women that keep Old Glory flying free!
As an Iraq/Afghanistan combat veteran, my hats off to and deepest thanks to all my fellows vets. Many people will never understand the importance of the word sacrifice
Canadians were impressive soldiers and airmen and served honorably. I've read their P.O.W. accounts from Japanese prisons in the book 'Pacific War P.O.W.: A Few Remaining Skeletons.'
I didn't think this song would hit me the way it did. Bur, man, did it ever. Here i sit, crying like a baby. Both my grandfather's fought in workd war 2 & my father was a marine & should have fought in Vietnam, but was injured and honorably discharged. Thank you to all of the courageous men and women whose valiant acts of bravery have given us the freedom we have today. God bless.
Honored by your heroic families sacrifice! God bless you! My respect to you, your grandfather, and father! Warrior blood is in your veins!

This is why we give thanks to our soldiers and and our lord and a great musician...stay blessed
Powerful kids these days have no idea

God bless.
God Bless John Rich!
