A beautiful tribute to our great corps! I’m 90now, and the proudest moment in my life was when I became a marine at parris island in 1945.

One tour wasn’t enough, he wanted to go back!! My Marine was the love of my life and my soulmate!!! It will be 15 years in January he went to Heaven to guard the Gates of Heaven! He is the best of the best!!! Semper Fi my love!!!! ❤️❤️❤️

306 people with a thumbs down, Really? It's obvious you don't have a clue how you are living in a free country. I was raised in a Marine Corps family, to respect others, protect others, and honor others. I salute all of the fighting forces of the United States of America but have a very fond spot for the USMC because I grew up listening to the Marine Corps Hymn. Once a Marine alway a Marine is not a myth, Semper Fi to all of you Marine's and a salute to all of the other Protecting Branches of the United States of "Our " America 🇺🇸 👏

This may not be the Country I enlisted in the Marine Corps to proudly serve for over 20 yrs., but I’m still very proud to have served & I would do it all over again if I could once again be young - one of the biggest reasons for my joining the Marines was knowing I would never be left behind, just as Chesty led all his men out of Chosin - even the wounded & dead.

My brother served in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam era - 2 tours in Vietnam. Came home alive but forever changed. Like my dad (a veteran of WW2 & the 82nd Airborne, awarded a Bronze star) he never talks about his tours overseas with anyone but other veterans. Those who don't serve could never fully understand what these men & women go through. God bless every one of them!

MY DADDY AND MOMMA SERVED IN WW2 AND MY MOMMA'S BROTHER DIED IN THAT WAR. MY MOMMA NEVER GOT OVER HIS DEATH. MY PARENTS BARELY SPOKE OF THEIR DUTY. BUT THE LAST CONVERSATION I HAD WITH MY DAD, BEFORE HE PASSED, HE SHARED A LOT WITH ME. I CRIED AS HE SPOKE OF HIS PAIN OF KNOWING THAT "ALL HIS YOUNG BOYS" WERE KILLED IN HIS FORMER UNIT. MY DAD GOT ORDERS TO CHANGE TO ANOTHER M.O.S. HE STILL CRIED ABOUT THOSE YOUNG BOYS. HE KEPT SAYING, "I SHOUD HAVE BEEN WITH THEM." I KNEW I COULD NEVER TAKE HIS PAIN AWAY. BUT HE WAS GRATERFUL I CARED, AND LISTENED. IT WAS THE MOST SOBERING LAST CALL I WILL NEVER FORGET FROM MY DADDY. I MISS YOU, DADDY (AND MOMMA) AND I WILL ALWAYS BE SO PROUD OF BOTH OF YOU FOR DOING, SERVING, AND HELPING US KEEP OUR FREEDOMS. I LOVED YOU BOTH ALWAYS~~

Every Servicemember gets changed after they get deployed to an active Theater Of Operation. It's very common that they'll never talk to their family of all the things he saw and experienced while in combat. They just need the support of their family members to at least have some quality of life.

My Dad wanted me to go to college. I wasn't interested. I joined the Marine Corps 1966. My Dad was disappointed but when I came home from boot camp Dad had a sticker in his car's back window that said, My Son Is A United States Marine. Dad was proud of me. I made it through Vietnam and I later became a Phoenix Police Officer for 28 years. I'm 75 years old now and I think back alot to time I was a Marine and like my Dad I'm Proud to be A United States Marine.

The pay sucks and there is no adjustment for cost of living. He has had a few medical issues but nothing major. The wait to get to be seen is ridiculous. We actually have four boys in the military. Three are enlisted and one is an officer. Two in the Army, one in the Navy, and one Marine.

Hits close to home every time I hear this. My brother passed in April from a brain tumor due to exposure in Iraq. We all found out how bad he'd gotten on the same day and I flew from Texas to Oregon that same day and when I got there, 4 of his Marine brothers were already there. At least one of them he hadn't seen since his last deployment in 04-05. Definitely a true brotherhood there

Yes. 50 years later, I love & miss it. RIP General Richard C. Schulze, 54, a retired major general in the Marine Corps who served in two wars and commanded the Officers Basic School at Quantico and the recruit depot at San Diego, Calif., died Nov. 10 at the Boca Raton Community Hospital in Boca Raton, Fla., after a heart attack. He lived in Alexandria and was on a business trip when he was stricken.
Gen. Schulze was born in Oakland, Calif. He graduated from Stanford University, enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1950 and was commissioned in 1951. He commanded a mortar section in Korea during the conflict there and an infantry battalion in Vietnam in 1968 and 1969.
Much of his career was devoted to personnel and training matters. His assignments included command of a company at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot at San Diego, recruitment of officer candidates in the San Francisco area, and the instruction staff of the Basic School at Quantico, through which all Marine officers pass.
Later he commanded the Basic School, and as a major general, the San Diego recruit depot. He was director of recruiting, manpower plans and policy, and personnel management at Marine headquarters here when he retired in 1981. He also had served as inspector general of the Marine Corps.
After leaving the service, Gen. Schulze was president of the Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Institute in Arlington.
His military decorations included the Silver Star, the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart and three Legions of Merit.
Survivors include his wife, the former Sally Sutton, of Alexandria; two sons, Jeffrey and Carl, both of San Diego, and his mother, Genevieve Schulze of Alexandria.

Have always loved this song as the wife of a Marine. This year it takes on even more meaning as my baby girl stepped on those yellow footprints at Parris Island in July. We're on countdown to go visit for her graduation and I know I will be a mess seeing how much she has grown these last few months. But the family she is gaining will have her back in all that she does.
