Loving these. As a rockhound new to Portland, I can't wait to hit these spots. Cheers!

One minute 20 seconds from the end... Is that petrified heartwood, loaded with sap?

So how does a piece if wood become a rock to call it rock hounding?

Petrified wood becomes mineralized... often with quartz. So yeah, it pretty much turns to a “rock”.

Why dont you show us somewhere free to go? Is there nothing left in Oregon thats both free and fun? We used to be able to go to the beach free but the Govt gave away our timber dollars so we now must pay to do anything.
