Don't you guys remeber in sworn to the sword pearl specifically said that she became familiar with the HUMAN concept of fighting and becoming a knight. This means that in The Answer she got those swords from human who tought her on how to become a knight
Actually, at best, the human concept of being a knight would probably have been made between 1000 and 2000 years ago, and Pearl was just able to make that connection when describing it to Steven and Connie. Also it was shown in and earlier episode (of which i cannot name of the top of my head), when she was talking to hologram Rose, she basically already had the dedication to stay on Earth with Rose, wanting to only be with her. In other words, she was a knight before it was cool #HipsterPearl
The term knight is only a couple thousand years old. The concept is much older. She could very easily have picked up on the concept and then named it once it was given a name thousands of years later.
Great video AJ. Although this theory does not have as much evidence as other ones you have made, it is still very believable. The point about Rose's sword really convinced me, as I can see no other way of her obtaining such a weapon. A great video as always, keep up the good work AJ.
There's a couple of pieces of evidence you missed from The Return, incidentally. Garnet's the less reliable bit of information since she has an agenda of convincing Steven to leave with the evacuees, but "You need to be there to protect them, like your mother once did." Slightly later in the episode Greg describes the war as an Invasion, it would be rare for an invasion to not involve the invaded attempting to fight back, but explicitly says that there were a lot of gem and human casualties ("A lot of gems were destroyed. Humans too.")
Don't forget about the armory that is in roses training room called 'the armor of the fallen' as you look at them they are from a variety of culture probably belonging to great human worriers that could have fought along rose. As far as we know gems do not use armor so that mean humans must have fought and died for rose thus it is why they are called armor of the fallen and rose kept them to probably remember those fallen humans that fought for her.
In the Return, while Greg and Steven are driving away from Beach City, Greg mentions that a lot of humans died during the war. Obviously, this most likely refers at least in part to casualties that resulted from the Colonization process, but I've always suspected that this could also mean that there were humans that tried to fight with the gems as well.
Random thought: Do you think humans are aware of Gems' presence on Earth, or at least their past presence? Or do you think humans' knowledge of them is confined to Beach City? In "Same Old World" the Jersey guy who yelled at Lapis and Steven for "flying in our sky" didn't seen too concerned by the prospect of a blue woman flying around -- but of course, this could have been solely for the purpose of comedy.
I think humans are aware of it because you got to remember that there are corrupted gems just roaming the earth. Humans have to know about them besides in beach city. I think many people might think that the Gems are folk stories or legends if not aware of them.
Well, seeing the Incredible amount of gems remains, it would be quite ilogical on part of the writers to put them as ignorant of the gem existance. Shit, it wouldnt be crazy to think that there were Jobs dedicated solely on gems (like gem archeologist, soldiers prepared for a Second invasion, engineers who tried to copy gem technology, etc.)
I think the crewniverse said that most humans ignore the gem stuff all around except for like Steven, Greg and Ronaldo but as we see with Ronaldo he has trouble even grasping it
Okay, but what if they're not humans, OR gems... what if they're plant soldiers made by Rose Quartz, and what if they too are made of a particularly popular fruit. STRAWBERRY BATTLEFIELD BOOM theory time when rose cane to earth she discovered new powers because of the abundant plant life. she found she could create living breathing creatures based on plants. The diamonds took advantage of this and built a facility to test these plant soldiers' abilities (and probably other rose quartzes' plant soldiers and stuff too) and then rose saw how her sweet strawberry soldiers were being treated. she saw how quickly they were being chopped up and killed. She needed to put an end to this, so she did. and then the big battle took place and she used her strawberry soldiers and now gigantic juicy strawberries grow in that battlefield. that was fun
I do believe regardless of what is on the mural that they do exist. This also probably ties into Rose's view on humans. She probably sees them similarly to the soldiers as something fragile with a short life in need of protection, but never seen as an equal.
guys in "The Return"(s1 ep.51) greg states while he is in the car with steven that "many gems died in the war , people too" that could mean that people fought in the war too , like so aj can see
omg thank you! i literally just posted a comment about that! i can't believe AJ didn't mention them -- we see them in two episodes so clearly they'e important
hey aj! i have a theory i think you might want to look into. me and my friend were talking about how different gems have different level of intelligence, and corrupted gems and how their gems got to be so weirdly shaped, and the ideas intersected. we came across the subject of the beetles of heaven and earth, the one Steven went to get with pearl and amethyst in particular. we wondered how and why the beetle had stuff built specifically for it, and we came up with the idea that it actually had a form of sentience and intellect unlike any other corrupted gem. we theorize that the beetle is actually smart enough to build its own self-tailored objects in its own house, like a TV and game system, as well as bongos. the crewniverse put a lot of work into the background for the beetle's room, and Steven even specifically points out the fact that the bongos exist. who would possibly climb up a mountain that was hard for even gems to get to, just to build specific items for the pleasure of a small gem insect? we think that since it's a corrupted gem, it still retains a mind and is capable of building a working television and a pair of bongos, and all of this stuff for itself. we also wonder why garnet lets it roam free in a tank instead of bubbling it, and also why she takes such an interest in the beetles themselves. we think that garnet is interested in them both BECAUSE of this possible intelligence, and their ability to be completely autonomous up to the point they can know what these objects are. back in the old days of the episodes like giant woman, it makes total sense we would let this slip by us because we didn't know what gem monsters were, or that the crewniverse meant stuff to mean things in the future later on in the show, ever since episode one. i'm honestly surprised why no one at all has questioned why, or even how, a space-alien gem beetle would be able to find the material for a TV, build the TV, plug in wires to some source of electricity, then build a console, plug the console into the TV, and so on and so forth. how is it able to do this, why? does garnet know what it can do? if so, why hasn't the crewniverse brought up the beetle's so called sentience again? why hasn't garnet? can the beetles mean something greater in the future? is the beetle's favorite show Seinfeld or the sitcom friends? that last one was a joke, but i seriously am interested in why at least this one beetle is this smart, and why garnet wants them together. i think it's worth a theory. we've let these guys slide by for too long without being scrutinized. thanks for reading, if you did. sorry to post this a second time, just really wanted to make sure you knew i posted it.
3:00 to me 'the test' I feel like it's more of a 'weeding out the humans '. because, remember then they were trapped in the middle and Amethyst kept on going in different rooms and coming out from different rooms. Every time she came out, he was injured or had something stuck on her. Gems can go through it but humans couldn't pass it without the help of any Gems, they wouldn't survive. (Garnet helping Steven in everything). so I say those little black figures are humans. you're awesome AJ Universe
But isn't there also a possibility that these things in the murals could be fruits or vegetables *cough*strawberries*cough* brought to life by rose? Similar to the watermelons that steven created?
No. Rose had control of her plants. They did what she programmed them to do. They would not have, and probably could not have, been put through the Temple trials.
episode 34 pearl " Your mother had the power to grow sentient plant life to act as her defenders" If they were merely just programmed to follow her, why would they be sentient? I don't believe this comment proves she had complete control over them.
I think it's also important to mention that in the mural of Rose fighting (Yellow???) Diamond there are gems drawn around YD. If the figures around Rose were intended to be gem warriors, then they would have drawn them as actual gems not figures.
They have. There are clues all throughout the series that interactions with the Gems influenced human society, and the crew has said themselves that the differences in human culture in Steven's world stem from the fact that the Gems came to Earth.
How many suits of armor were there in Rose's armory? Pearl referred to them as "The Armor of the Fallen." I find it unlikely that the armor belonged to gems, given evidence from brief shots of gem battles that do not feature armor past what gems great from their gemstones and some weapons. I think it possible that this armor belonged to humans who fought, and died, in battle for Rose's cause, and were honored by her keeping their armor and placing it in her armory.
But if Rose fought alongside humans, shouldn't she be more experienced with their mannerisms? When Greg started showing interest in her, she seemed pretty ignorant of his human thoughts and feelings.
rose probably only let them fight with her as help. "i like the way human beings play i like playing along" seems pretty apparent, it also branches off from the evil rose theory? maybe she doesn't care for humans and let then fight alongside her just for the benefit of recieving help? i feel like that goes against the "i love earth and everything on it" agenda though... idk. where i'm going with this hahhaha whoops
+DarkLordGanondorf190 that's true, i see where that comes from. But then again, gems are different and, shown as a constant theme in the show, occasionally misunderstand humans/fail to relate to their thought process and morals in general. rose probably would have misunderstood her human allies (the ones that fought along side her in the war). I feel like rose was a natural-born(made?) leader and knew how to lead naturally. she used these leader instincts with the humans. she would later on eventually learn alot more about humans (probably the colonial ones).
In the Theme Song Pearl says : "When we arrived on earth, from out beyond your stars We were amazed to find, your beauty and your worth" I guess it means that they were humans when the gems arrived, and they tried to ally them.
Something else I remember that could imply that humans fought was when Greg talked to Steven about the war in "The Return". Greg mentions how there's no such thing as a good war and then says "Many gems died. People too." This to me has said that humans probably fought. I find it unlikely that if Rose cared about humans as much as it seems, she would allow humans to be caught in the crossfire which to me seems like the only other way humans would be killed.
The armor of the fallen might explain why they didn't want to associate with humans anymore... Because they died.. You remember the armor of the fallen.. Right?
Your revisiting So Many B-Days makes me interested to see you cover what the CGs were doing to help the humans back in the day, perhaps in a theory compilation?
Here is some evidence I don't think anyone else referenced yet but its akin to what Greg said in The Return, its something Pearl said in sworn to the sword. "It was here at the sky arena that I became familiar with the human concept of being a knight." How could she have learned a human honor system at a floating gem base unless humans were there, and moreover fighting with knightly virtue otherwise she could not have learned.
Can you do a theory video that the corrupted gems will fight among Steven and the gems during home world war...or like how stevens spit healing powers will cure the corrupted gems as a full normal gem they originally designed
Honestly, I thought this was kind of common knowledge, too, at least a common idea. I do believe at one point someone said that humans died because of the war, but of that I'm not 100% sure.. Also, I've discovered a new hobby of pretending the characters are saying these things when the lip-syncing in the clips you use match up with the audio, haha.
He said and I quote "After the war, Gems were broken, and people too. In the end, Rose could only save a few of her closest friends. If it wasn't for her shield, man..." Pretty deep for Greg in my opinion.
i think you forgotten rose's armory which in roses scabbered has the armor of the fallen which are human armor of different race and tme witht the axes of ages and the lady with the chain balls and i cant spell what pearl says
+Games Glitcher but we're still getting it I presume early July or late July to a certain popular fan base with things that blow up planets is doing their celebration in that time and could greatly influence viewers to go watch that I stead
In the episode "The Return", while Greg is talking with Steven in the van he mentions Rose turned on her own kind and it then shows scenes from the strawberry field. At that time he tells Steven that during the war there were gems AND humans that were destroyed, so it seems pretty likely that humans had a part in the war
Hey AJ, do you think that Rose's human supporters were female instead of male ? I mean the humans depicted in the morals look feminine the drawings look.
I can not believe we are discussing this .The level of detail in the mural is the same to one from Prehistoric art , you can not tell if they were male or female .
Well you better believe it because it is possible that most of Rose's supporters could have been female. Not only that but our prehistoric ancestors are very capable of complex art. The staues from that time period had men with no visible curves but statues of females do. That , some prehistoric art don't show hair but the murals does, which in my opinion looks feminine. Also we have reason to believe that the mural drawings were not created by HUMANS but by GEM ALIENS. So I find it a little weird that Gems, despite not caring for humans, would not include masculine looking humans.
I don't know if you've done a video on this, or thought about this, but I just rewatched Serious Steven... that isn't White Diamond's temple. It's Yellow Diamond's temple. Old Yellow Diamond's temple, if it is the burial ground of any Diamond. You can tell by how everything glows yellow at the end. There are other ways to make white appear to glow white, other than making it look like another colour you obviously are using as a main villain.
Greg said in The Return , "no such thing as a good war kiddo... gems were destroyed... people too" the context isnt clear but they could've been fighting with her
As previously stated, the mural might possibly be a prophecy board. Perhaps the middle panel of the mural is not only that, but Rose healing a corrupted gem, and it finally returning to a normal humanoid shape, as Steven will possibly do with Centipeetle. There's also the possibility that that gem that she is holding is bismuth, and was used as a weapon.
this may also raise another question... were there other Gems that fought along side Rose and the others? and if so where would they be now? this was a great vid dude
You forgot to consider what greg said in The Return while talking to steven he "Alot gems were destroyed, people too" at least implying that people were included in the war one way or another
I didn't forget to consider anything. As I said in the video, there are hints and details located all throughout the series, and I didn't have room to include them all.
If the figures are humans, they could be smaller and basically featureless because the Homeworld Gems saw humans as small and inferior to Gems, even enemy Gems.
Oh, uhm... that title gave me a different feeling for what this would be about. Maybe if it was 'Humans Fought Beside Rose' it would make a bit more sense upon first glance/read? Just a small suggestion!
I doubt humans were regular members of her army, but I don't have a hard time believing that Rose would at least train some human settlements to fight just in case the Crystal Gems couldn't be there to protect them which, considering how outnumbered they must've been, would probably happen more often than not
AJ you missed a piece in the series where Greg said that "many humans died" and for 5000 years ago I wouldn't put it past primordial peoples to fight back. It was in the episode "The Return", #51 of season 1.
It looks like Rose is actually wielding a proofed Pink Diamond in the mural. Perhaps using her as a shield? Maybe this is just before PD gets shattered.
Hey I just realized something. The sky arena has the four diamond insignia and the pyramid where the mural is has the three diamond insignia. That means that the pyramid was built later in the war, but that means pink diamond either left the diamonds or was the enemy during the war because the temple is in a major battlefield. Maybe you should do a theory on this?
*raises hand* I might be a little late and someone might have already put this out there in the comments section but I have a piece of "evidence" that I'm very surprised wasn't talked about/shown in this video good sir AJ. Remember when Steven and Connie were taken to Rose's armory by Lion when he was supposed to be taking them to the movies and then when Pearl took Steven there? There were different types of suits of armor from humans in one of the displays andd during the time Steven and Pearl were at the armory while Steven was opening and bringing up the different displays, the suits of armor came up. Steven makes the naming comment about the suits and Pearl somewhat angrily exclaimed ; "The armor of the fallen!". I thought & think that definitely showed that humans fought along side the Crystal Gems. That's just one of the first things that popped into my head right after this video ended. But anyways, I loved the video and I love your content overall! Keep up the good work! I'm sending good vibes your way my good sir!
Could you make a video about the outro "Love Like You." You did this earlier, I know, but, there was a new verse at the end of Steven Floats and if you could do a quick update video adding on to your previous theory or if it changes your thoughts etc.
In the episode The Return Greg says that lots of gems and humans lost there lives in the war so either they where casualties or more likely they fought and died
I think the pyramid was used by white diamond to train her gem elites. Think about it, the traps in the pyramid are kinda like the ones that the gems made for steven back on the temple(to test him). The swinging axes, the glowing floor panels, etc.
I have thought about it, and it just doesn't make sense. Steven is human, and those tests, in both the Pyramid Temple and the room created by the Crystal Gems in The Test, were only dangerous to him because he was human. No Gem would be seriously harmed by any of those tests. Only humans would. And the Gems knew that when they created the course for Steven. By your own reasoning, the Pyramid Temple test chambers were more likely made to test the abilities of humans than to train Gems.
Adrian Soldevilla Because if there is no obstacle to overcome, i.e. danger, then nothing is learned. You don't use death traps for training anyway, which only furthers my point.
Adrian Soldevilla And you do remember than all Gems except for the Diamonds are considered expendable, right? Why would the Diamonds care if they hurt some Gems to weed out the weaklings?
+AJ Universe I think the diamonds are desperate now given that the resources weren't as abundant as it used to(as peridot mentioned). I don't think they look at every gem as expendable anymore. That could also explain why Jasper holds much value. She may be one of the few valuable gem soldiers left
AJ You forgot about the training area pearl and lion brought steven to. all the human gear makes more sense now like the armour of the fallen, there werent alot and I guess because not a lot of humans made it through the trials. anyway love the theory and keep it up bro. channels like these help with the wait
"There's no such thing as a good war, kiddo. Gems were destroyed there. People, too. In the end, your mother could only save a handful of her closest friends."
Some more proof is since Pearl had the swords many she made them with help by humans and when she did that she got interested in human / earth mechanics and that's how she is able to know so much about Mechanics and stuff like how she made the robot to fight Paradot
Nice theory!! I wonder how many times have you watched the show for evidence for your theories, it seems like you remember the whole show by heart lol.
This is a very intelligent and well thought out theory that I see being a valid part of the show in episodes to come! One thing I did notice in the episode 'Rose's Scabbard' to support this theory further was when Pearl shows Steven Roses armory. Among the weapons there are a row of Armour which Pearl recognizes as 'The Armour of the Fallen' or something along those lines! To me the Armour looked very 'human shaped' I guess...or they were for non fused gems but why would you have armor for one group of Gems and not others. All of the armor (from what I could see) had TWO arms and TWO legs, a lot of fused gems have added limbs and are ALOT taller. So I think these suits were made for her human allys!
not sure if anyone has mentioned this but rose's sword was made by bismuth for a fact as she said in her episode and I'm gong presume she also forged others since she was even able to quote on quote upgrade the crystals gems weapons
Also threw what peridot confirmed at the kindergarden in episode"too far"that amythyst is supposed to look like jasper off the episode"the return"and go into more details
another point to add is that pearl said her combat prowess comes from training in the way of the knight from human history who's gonna teach her a human discipline besides humans
There's also the Armour of the Fallen and all the other physical things in Rose's armoury. Perhaps the robot shooty thing was used to train humans to battle gems? And yeah, Rose's sword itself is physical, not summoned, which is perfect for Connie.
what about the episode Watermelon Steven Island Part 1, before fond mosk island the watermelons were nomads left with no purpose but to settle a community together and live(sound similar). Just like humans. During the episode when Malocite fights the gems (can't remember the name when fused) the watermelons are left with fear and helplessness as they weren't ment or at least untrained to fight until moral is hosting by Steven to try. When malocite overpowers the gems the watermelons save them in large numbers very similar to humans in aid of rose in their pyramid painting. The realize they are no prisoner or and together they are strong as a gem which lapiz states to jasper before taking off into the ocean
how about this theory, rose invented the sword as a gift for pearl and later humans copied the design and her own sword was forged. this could have also inspired the concept of gem weapons seeing as blue diamond would have known about this a May have spread this and adapted this concept, seeing how home world gems weapons eg. Jaspers helmet is vastly different to to the weapons of the crystal gems eg. spear whip and shield that all have inspiration from the weapons of human conflict or the reverse. I believe that Jaspers helmet was was based off the strong crystalline structure of a gemstone.
Another piece of evidence for humans fighting with rose is in Lion 3 Straight to Video, the armor of the fallen which Pearl later points out in a different episode.
Actually, in reference to your mention of Pearl's swords, Garnet says "The Answer" is set 5,750, making it around 3730 BCE, which would be the Neolithic era, so swords would not have been made or used by humans for about 800 more years. But we do see that gems forged weapons of their own, from the remnants in the Strawberry Feilds, such as the enormous axe Garnet takes for herself in the beginning of "Rose's Scabbard". So Pearl could have gotten the swords from Rose, who in my opinion was probably a general in the Diamond Authority, so she would have access to such things.
There is another thing, in roses armory there are pieces of armor that look like they belong to humans. There is Samurai armor, knight armor, etc. The armor is called armor of the fallen, possibly meaning armor of the fallen humans since as we can see gems don't have armor or else u would have seen rubies and all the others with armor on
wasnt there a line in sworn to the sword that pearl said it was when she first came to earth that she became familiar with the meaning of knights? her and rose could have worked with knights in the battle
+AJ Universe wow, I predicted the attack from orbit months ago, and then the idea was confirmed, still wondering if the orbital strike was what caused all the gems 'data' to corrupt, but that was all but confirmred in the new episode. hey aj universe you remember replying to my comment? I've been with you since the 2000 sub mark or so.
in the picture with rose an the dimond the way the lines (wind?) are going it docent look like rose is pushing it it looks like its being pushed towards rose
Also AJ in rose's room with all the weapons and the 3 cannons, there is a lot of armor. And since we haven't seen gems with armor it could be a sign that the humans made that armor and used it to fight.
More evidence is that in the episode "The return" Greg states "Gems where destroyed, and people too." This indicates that humans where in the war and that some died in battle, thus meaning humans did follow Rose and participated in the war.
Hm, I had always assumed that the figures in the mural were drawn that way to put more focus on Rose, since she was essentially the strongest of the Crystal Gems and the symbol of the rebellion. My question though is, what is Rose holding in front of her?
I think the the figure that looks like humans could be rubies because since rubies are a common gem no one pays much attention to them but gems like rose and white diamond(I think that's white diamond on the ceiling art) are big strong gems that plays a big role in homeword. And there could be a gem like a gem blacksmith that makes weapons for gems. However I am not sure and u could be correct.
also reminds me of the time greg said human lives were lost in the war too. wouldnt that make the most sense if they were actually fighting, after all?
What about a theory on Rose's Room? on Catch and Release Steven said "I want to talk to Peridot" but the room shows the exact Peridot Steven knows, I mean there are lots of Peridots out there still, also I didn't know if this was already made or not
the figures were done in hierarchal scale, the larger figures relative to actual size to determine whom is most important and where you should look. So perhaps the most important figure isn't rose, but the gem she's holding.
I can see your theory for the simplified depictions to symbolize humans, because they don't respect human existence; but the way Yellow Diamond and Blue Diamond treat lesser gems they seem not to respect them either. So if the gem wasn't important enough to depict in detail they could have just used simplified or generic symbol to represent numbers of gems instead of separating them by court, class, rank, type, or any other title the gems may use.
The problem with the sword aspect of this theory is that pearl mentions in historical friction that she is familiar with the hunter gatherer period. That is LONG before sword use
neat theory dude, I just thought of another potential piece of evidence that lends more strength to it . Remember in Lion 2 when Steven and Connie found that Cave full of armor and weapons, it all seemed human sized (aside from the Giant Penny). Just thought I'd bring that up.
I'm just wondering was amethyst with the crystal gems yet when the war started, because in that picture amethyst is with them! And we don't really know where the strawberry battlefield is located but when did the crystal gems meet captain dewy to start to befriend humans and was it after or before the war!
did you forget greg flat out confirmed it in the return wjen he said "gems were destroyed people too"
He could have ment that humans were caught in the middle of the battle, and weren't involved.
Jinxie Black remember the gems had a fence to keep humans out so
A fence for their house. The battle could have happened before they build it.
+Jinxie Black the gems most likely warned them
@Stevonnie I know Greg confirmed it. Also it's logic even primitive humans would have fought back against alien invaders.
Don't you guys remeber in sworn to the sword pearl specifically said that she became familiar with the HUMAN concept of fighting and becoming a knight. This means that in The Answer she got those swords from human who tought her on how to become a knight
sounds like a good background episode
Gr3nadgr3gory What do you mean?
Gr3nadgr3gory I agree, either that or their technology caused a leap forward in metal crafting in humans. And yeah, I wonder too.
Great video AJ. Although this theory does not have as much evidence as other ones you have made, it is still very believable. The point about Rose's sword really convinced me, as I can see no other way of her obtaining such a weapon. A great video as always, keep up the good work AJ.
You started talking about people dying in some kind of tests and I couldn't help but think of Aperture Science.
The Cake!, Is A LLLIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
:3
That gem in the pyramid was called Caroline
+tipoima where did you hear that
TheMotherConfesser This was a Portal reference
I read you mind XD
There's a couple of pieces of evidence you missed from The Return, incidentally. Garnet's the less reliable bit of information since she has an agenda of convincing Steven to leave with the evacuees, but "You need to be there to protect them, like your mother once did." Well that rose sword theory is now debunked...pleasure doing bismuth with ya
jozen1098 ha ha I poof you bismuth I am stevonie
In the Return, while Greg and Steven are driving away from Beach City, Greg mentions that a lot of humans died during the war. Obviously, this most likely refers at least in part to casualties that resulted from the Colonization process, but I've always suspected that this could also mean that there were humans that tried to fight with the gems as well.
Whouldnt it be cool if there was an Amber gem and she could control fossils, Jurassic Park style?
essentially a gem necromancer
Dem i didnt think of it that way, but yeah.
there is a comfirmed gem from a comic by rebecca sugar that can turn gems into stone.... o please let her uncorrupted form look like medusa
+Malachite That would be SO COOL.
Gabriel Black :D
I really appreciate the time to come up with these theories keep up the good work men
Random thought: Do you think humans are aware of Gems' presence on Earth, or at least their past presence? Or do you think humans' knowledge of them is confined to Beach City? In "Same Old World" the Jersey guy who yelled at Lapis and Steven for "flying in our sky" didn't seen too concerned by the prospect of a blue woman flying around -- but of course, this could have been solely for the purpose of comedy.

+Sharkcaster wood Says the guy commenting on a theory video. Good job, bud.
They are aware, but they just ignore it
This is a surprise to some fans? Greg pretty much suggested that in The Return. I thought it was kinda obvious too.
Okay, but what if they're not humans, OR gems... what if they're plant soldiers made by Rose Quartz, and what if they too are made of a particularly popular fruit. STRAWBERRY BATTLEFIELD
BOOM
theory time
when rose cane to earth she discovered new powers because of the abundant plant life. she found she could create living breathing creatures based on plants. The diamonds took advantage of this and built a facility to test these plant soldiers' abilities (and probably other rose quartzes' plant soldiers and stuff too)
and then rose saw how her sweet strawberry soldiers were being treated. she saw how quickly they were being chopped up and killed.
That would be awesome! Reminds me of Steven & his watermelons
guys in "The Return"(s1 ep.51) greg states while he is in the car with steven that "many gems died in the war , people too" that could mean that people fought in the war too , like so aj can see
Nobody is talking about the Armor of the Fallen
Yeah it was clearly meant for humans along with the weaponry
omg thank you! i literally just posted a comment about that! i can't believe AJ didn't mention them -- we see them in two episodes so clearly they'e important
I'd like to point out that the Armor of the Fallen is strangely out of place and doesn't fit into the timelines of the show and historically ours.
New Recruit what?
What if by "fallen", it meant that they were resurrected by Rose and fought for her?
hey aj! i have a theory i think you might want to look into. me and my
friend were talking about how different gems have different level of
intelligence, and corrupted gems and how their gems got to be so weirdly
shaped, and the ideas intersected. we came across the subject of the
beetles of heaven and earth, the one Steven went to get with pearl and
amethyst in particular. we wondered how and why the beetle had stuff
built specifically for it, and we came up with the idea that it actually
had a form of sentience and intellect unlike any other corrupted gem.
we theorize that the beetle is actually smart enough to build its own
self-tailored objects in its own house, like a TV and game system, as
well as bongos. the crewniverse put a lot of work into the background
for the beetle's room, and Steven even specifically points out the fact
that the bongos exist. who would possibly climb up a mountain that was
hard for even gems to get to, just to build specific items for the
pleasure of a small gem insect? we think that since it's a corrupted
gem, it still retains a mind and is capable of building a working
television and a pair of bongos, and all of this stuff for itself. we
also wonder why garnet lets it roam free in a tank instead of bubbling
it, and also why she takes such an interest in the beetles themselves.
we think that garnet is interested in them both BECAUSE of this possible
intelligence, and their ability to be completely autonomous up to the
point they can know what these objects are. back in the old days of the
episodes like giant woman, it makes total sense we would let this slip
by us because we didn't know what gem monsters were, or that the
crewniverse meant stuff to mean things in the future later on in the
show, ever since episode one. i'm honestly surprised why no one at all
has questioned why, or even how, a space-alien gem beetle would be able
to find the material for a TV, build the TV, plug in wires to some
source of electricity, then build a console, plug the console into the
TV, and so on and so forth. how is it able to do this, why? does garnet
know what it can do? if so, why hasn't the crewniverse brought up the
beetle's so called sentience again? why hasn't garnet? can the beetles
mean something greater in the future? is the beetle's favorite show
Seinfeld or the sitcom friends? that last one was a joke, but i
seriously am interested in why at least this one beetle is this smart,
and why garnet wants them together. i think it's worth a theory. we've
let these guys slide by for too long without being scrutinized. thanks
for reading, if you did.
sorry to post this a second time, just really wanted to make sure you knew i posted it.
Little bit of a helpful tip: change the "with" to "along side" in the title. A read of the tittle could suggest that Humans fought rose
Are you sure it wasn't just an influence over them similiar to Steven's way of getting the watermelons to fight?
rar1990 It was said, specifically, that Rose has control of her plant soldiers.
episode 34 pearl " Your mother had the power to grow sentient plant life to act as her defenders" If they were merely just programmed to follow her, why would they be sentient? I don't believe this comment proves she had complete control over them.
But wouldn't the strawberry soldiers have Rose's image then ? You be a lot thicker than thinner ?
I think it's also important to mention that in the mural of Rose fighting (Yellow???) Diamond there are gems drawn around YD. If the figures around Rose were intended to be gem warriors, then they would have drawn them as actual gems not figures.
didn't bismuth forge rose's sword? or am i remembering it wrong?
This video was released before the Bismuth episode.
oh, sorry, i didn't know
Armor of the Fallen..
You'd think the humans who fought along side the gems would write down their interactions with them for generations
They have. There are clues all throughout the series that interactions with the Gems influenced human society, and the crew has said themselves that the differences in human culture in Steven's world stem from the fact that the Gems came to Earth.
You know I would like to see an historical episode about the humans first interactions with the gems
+AJ Universe it kind of is confirmed by greg in the return greg said gems and humans were killed in the war
When Greg started showing interest in her, she seemed pretty ignorant of his human thoughts and feelings.
...No. Fighting alongside someone is not the same as dating them. Unless you're characters in an anime.
rose probably only let them fight with her as help.
I just thought miltary actions would need frequent communication, which would help (even force) you somewhat to get to know a "species".
+Chibi Birb YES. THIS IS SUCH A GREAT EXPLANATION FUCCCCC
In the Theme Song Pearl says : "When we arrived on earth, from out beyond your stars
We were amazed to find, your beauty and your worth"
I guess it means that they were humans when the gems arrived, and they tried to ally them.
Beautiful" women" descend form the sky and ask for help from men... What guy would not want to fight for them, primitive or modern?
Claps at the approve of your statement... Reminds me of the battle of Troy is it?
I kinda think that their allies were women... Look at the picture. They have curves.
lol soooooo true
+Jordan
I was replying to the other guy, not you.
I know
Something else I remember that could imply that humans fought was when Greg talked to Steven about the war in "The Return".
I thought this was 100% obvious
Here is some evidence I don't think anyone else referenced yet but its akin to what Greg said in The Return, its something Pearl said in sworn to the sword. "It was here at the sky arena that I became familiar with the human concept of being a knight." How could she have learned a human honor system at a floating gem base unless humans were there, and moreover fighting with knightly virtue otherwise she could not have learned.
how come there is two people infont of rose
SACRIFICE
maybe thats where her renegade pearl got those swords from
and where she got the concept of dieing for a cause!
Or just to show they weren't just cowering behind her, they were helping??
+Alexis Koelliker 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Can you do a theory video that the corrupted gems will fight among Steven and the gems during home world war...or like how stevens spit healing powers will cure the corrupted gems as a full normal gem they originally designed
Honestly, I thought this was kind of common knowledge, too, at least a common idea. I do believe at one point someone said that humans died because of the war, but of that I'm not 100% sure..
Also, I've discovered a new hobby of pretending the characters are saying these things when the lip-syncing in the clips you use match up with the audio, haha.
Ha 😂
Greg said it in 'The Return', I believe
He said and I quote "After the war, Gems were broken, and people too. In the end, Rose could only save a few of her closest friends. If it wasn't for her shield, man..." Pretty deep for Greg in my opinion.
I thought it was totally common knowledge... I guess I have the same flaw as Aj with not knowing what is common from what is not :P.
legoboy0109 Yeah, that's what I thought the quote was... I just didn't feel like checking to confirm, heh XD
i think you forgotten rose's armory which in roses scabbered
has the armor of the fallen which are human armor of different race and tme
witht the axes of ages and the lady with the chain balls and i cant spell what pearl says
anyone know when su is gonna come back?
end of summer some time. that's what I heard
no the creators haven't started summer of steven
+Games Glitcher but we're still getting it I presume early July or late July to a certain popular fan base with things that blow up planets is doing their celebration in that time and could greatly influence viewers to go watch that I stead
Smasherfan88 i know but its not coming at the end of the summer
i heard june 24th cuz they already have leaks out
In the episode "The Return", while Greg is talking with Steven in the van he mentions Rose turned on her own kind and it then shows scenes from the strawberry field. At that time he tells Steven that during the war there were gems AND humans that were destroyed, so it seems pretty likely that humans had a part in the war
Hey AJ, do you think that Rose's human supporters were female instead of male ? I mean the humans depicted in the morals look feminine the drawings look.
Very true. They have obvious curves and feminine hair.
It would make sense since the Gems are matriarchical society and that at the time of war, civilization just beginning.
The population is 50% this , 50% that .
Plus the fact that Greg said that humans also died during the war
That was told in the show, they are the corrupted gems, and the shards made into the gem mutants and cluster
You forgot to consider what greg said in The Return while talking to steven he "Alot gems were destroyed, people too" at least implying that people were included in the war one way or another
I didn't forget to consider anything. As I said in the video, there are hints and details located all throughout the series, and I didn't have room to include them all.
+AJ Universe Sorry i must have missed it
i am 7 lol jk
If the figures are humans, they could be smaller and basically featureless because the Homeworld Gems saw humans as small and inferior to Gems, even enemy Gems.
Oh, uhm... that title gave me a different feeling for what this would be about. Maybe if it was 'Humans Fought Beside Rose' it would make a bit more sense upon first glance/read? Just a small suggestion!
I doubt humans were regular members of her army, but I don't have a hard time believing that Rose would at least train some human settlements to fight just in case the Crystal Gems couldn't be there to protect them which, considering how outnumbered they must've been, would probably happen more often than not
You're good at what you do and you discuss questions I have. Subbed. Good job.
Was this not just outright confirmed in Greg's conversation with Steven in The Return?
AJ you missed a piece in the series where Greg said that "many humans died" and for 5000 years ago I wouldn't put it past primordial peoples to fight back. It was in the episode "The Return", #51 of season 1.
It looks like Rose is actually wielding a proofed Pink Diamond in the mural. Perhaps using her as a shield? Maybe this is just before PD gets shattered.
+Jimmy Humphries of maybe she's in a mirror like Lapis was
A diamond communicator?
I'm sending good vibes your way my good sir!
or they could be representation of her living plant armies.
I have been waiting for this theory for months!
Also, the episode in which Steven shows Pearl Rose's weapon room, those suits of armor come up, armor that humans wore.
+AJ Universe Why would they want to harm gems during training???
Bismuth didn't exist right now but it answers most of the weapon questions
"There's no such thing as a good war, kiddo. Gems were destroyed there. People, too. In the end, your mother could only save a handful of her closest friends."
Some more proof is since Pearl had the swords many she made them with help by humans and when she did that she got interested in human / earth mechanics and that's how she is able to know so much about Mechanics and stuff like how she made the robot to fight Paradot
What about in the episode "Rose's Scabbard" where human armor is discovered in Rose's armory and pearl says its the armor of the fallen?
Greg did say that humans died in the war to, he could have been referring to how they died trying to fight other gems
not sure if anyone has mentioned this but rose's sword was made by bismuth for a fact as she said in her episode and I'm gong presume she also forged others since she was even able to quote on quote upgrade the crystals gems weapons
The realize they are no prisoner or and together they are strong as a gem which lapiz states to jasper before taking off into the ocean
didn't you also say in one of your other videos about the warp whistles being created for humans having something to do with this?
how about this theory, rose invented the sword as a gift for pearl and later humans copied the design and her own sword was forged. this could have also inspired the concept of gem weapons seeing as blue diamond would have known about this a May have spread this and adapted this concept, seeing how home world gems weapons eg.
I just realized the diamond that rose is holding in the temple mural is just the communication device they used to talk to yellow diamond.
It only makes sense. I mean if a giant woman came to me and said "they're going to take your planet away, will you fight with me," I'd say yes!
I never doubted humans fighting with rose
And one can only assume that, that means that humans fought alongside the crystal gems and used the warp whistles to escape raids and to go to battle
What about a theory on Rose's Room? on Catch and Release Steven said "I want to talk to Peridot" but the room shows the exact Peridot Steven knows, I mean there are lots of Peridots out there still, also I didn't know if this was already made or not
we have to see the ones who drew the paintings
you really backed up that sword idea, i didn't think of it like that... even though the rose part isn't true the pearl part seems to be
Greg said during the episode before "Jailbreak" (can't remember the name) that, "Gems were killed... people too."
the figures were done in hierarchal scale, the larger figures relative to actual size to determine whom is most important and where you should look. So perhaps the most important figure isn't rose, but the gem she's holding.
referring to the mural
Didn't it say in house guest that the gems had human allies and that's what the warp whistles were for that they allowed humans to access the warp pad
I'm just wondering was amethyst with the crystal gems yet when the war started, because in that picture amethyst is with them! And we don't really know where the strawberry battlefield is located but when did the crystal gems meet captain dewy to start to befriend humans and was it after or before the war!
