Anyone else want an entire episode to the ruby squad arriving on Jupiter and searching for jasper? It's as aj said all of these characters have distinct personalities that a lot of thought went into, it would be a total waste if these characters weren't explored in the near future. I would love to see more of these characters!
Gem placement correlates with the personality. Gems on the stomach are nicer, more girly and have an interest in life on other plants. Stomach Ruby, Steven, and Rose all have these traits. Gems on the head or face are loyal, smart, and hostile like Peridot, Pearl, Jasper, and Eyeball Ruby. Gems on the hands or arms are focused and combat ready like every Ruby from the answer, Sapphire, and the Ruby from Hit the Diamond. They are loyal to yellow diamond and have no reason to leave homeworld.
Oh wait, I remember something! Peridot said Amethyst should be the leader of their group. It's likely that she was intended to be one. It makes sense because Yellow Diamond's gem is on her chest too.
Yeah same concept, Amythest is over cooked and made on Earth. If she came out at the right time for the war, she'd be a loyal, strong leader for the quarts soldiers.
Dan Howlter I'll say this much at least. I'm sure that it's something that the crew thinks about at the design stage, but the idea that it affects the characters in universe goes against the idea of free will and individuality that the show stands for.
I want to argue but i know you have a much better grasp on the show than i do. You've pointed out stuff about the show that i would have never even thought of. Great video as always, keep up the good work AJ :)
They were fun but they didn't feel very main cast material. It'd be so crowded. Doesn't mean they can't be important in some way but having them in less rather than more seems better. That being said I did like them, seeing their high jinks even as an enemy would be good enough.
Keep in mind the Crystal Gems are supposed to be, and likely will be an army. While they may not have much focus, chances are, they will join the main cast.
DUDE I just thought of something that probably won't happen but what if the temple got too crowed so the rubies got out and got jobs around beach city . Navy can go to the pizza shop. Army can move boxes at the big donut. And so one
I've always kind of, in the back of my mind, thought that Homeworld might end up being like Cluster Prime from that old Nickelodeon show My Life As A Teenage Robot. Throughout most of the series we only met the leader of Cluster Prime, Queen Vexus, and her top lieutenants, who were all warmongering, human-hating aliens who wanted to conquer Earth. But when the main character, Jenny, went to Cluster Prime she found a normal society; there were individuals and normal cities and jobs and schools and things like that. Up until that point she had only met a vocal minority of them who wanted to conquer Earth, like we have with Jasper and Yellow Diamond, but the actual citizens and society just wanted to exist as their own people, and most had no idea what Earth even was. I'd think it would be an interesting plot-twist if later on it was discovered that the whole Earth Rebellion thing had been kept under wraps by Yellow Diamond for her own personal vendetta, and that most of Homeworld had no idea we even exist.
I like the idea of them joining only because more people are going to be needed if there is going to be a 2nd war which is very likely because Yellow Diamond isn't just going to show up by her lonesome.
Or the inverse, we go to the gem home world and lead a surprise attack having less to deal with. This could even lead into the gems being capture, learning about Rose, and some of the home world horrors.
I'm not sure that the distinctness of the Rubies is drastic enough for long term plots. Though each Ruby seems different from eachother, it seems to be that they still, on some level, believe themselves to be very similar to one another. Remember in The Answer we saw three Rubies, and they acted very similarly, yet distinctly enough for the context of the episode. One of those Rubies was our Ruby, and she told us how similar she felt it the other Rubies. She is, in part, directly telling us this narrative, as Garnet explains how Ruby was assigned to protect Sapphire. Ruby's assignment meant protecting Sapphire at all costs, and she blindly followed it to the point where she was threatens to be shattered. Something tells me that a society that threatens to dispose of those who show individuality wouldn't bat an eye at shattering five Rubies.
One of the things the Crystal Gems have over Homeworld Gems is a world of things that are very different than them. It means they CAN and do have experiences that make them unique. Homeworld is Homeworld and, probably, no matter where you go it's the same. Except for Lapis so much time has passed that she surely recognized the difference in technology and culture. She's a historian after all and everything she knows is damn near irrelevant and outdated.
Amanda Troutman I wouldn't necessarily call Lapis a historian, but she is a living piece of history. She was alive during the war, and we know from her perspective the whole ordeal created a "with us or against us" mentality. That mentality probably carried over from the war into even stricter regimes from the diamonds. That means they'd be even more likely to reel in five stray Rubies for an inspection. The fact is though, the Rubies we see call Yellow Diamond by name and are carrying out a mission. If these Rubies are still alive and still following Yellow Diamond, they're most likely alive because they're viewed as Rubies. One acting clueless while another acting flowery would be considered the dumb side of Rubies, while the angy, the punchy, and the leader would seem like the fighting side of Rubies. If all five fit the idea of what a Ruby is, then Homeworld has no reason to crush them. That's my theory, but if it turns out to be wrong then I'll be pleasantly surprised. It could just be that the in show explanation isn't really there, but even if it isn't, we can still settle on an idea or two based on the context we have
I thought you were going to say something about how the gem placement determines character. Navy has her gem exactly where Steven does and is the kind and loving one. Army has hers on her arm and that's why she likes to demonstrate fighting abilities. Imo the reason the Rubies seemed so similar in the Answer is because they all had their gems on the arms.
Doc and Amethyst both have their's on their chests. I do enjoy the theory that gem placement corresponds with an aspect of personality, (especially with the chakras) but I'm having trouble connecting them.
I don't see how that statement has anything to do with gem placement or personality. Let's see, getting the exact quote from the episode... "You outrank everyone on your team. They should be listening to you. You're a strong, singular, fully functional soldier... despite the fact that you're defective." And before that her comments about the others were all things like Pearl's problem is that she's just a pearl, Garnet's problem is that she's a fusion, and Steven's problem is that he's some sort of gross hybrid. Peridot saw Amethyst as the closest thing they've got to a true leader because she's a quartz-type warrior gem, not servant class like Pearl, not a fusion like Garnet, and not something difficult to identify and categorize like Steven. The "defective" comment was elaborated on by talking about how Amethyst is smaller than most quartz-type gem soldiers, which Peridot seemed to think of as a much less significant sin than any of the others' problems.
The idea about a connection between gem placement and personality seems to work out well enough for some cases. Pearl and Peridot are both intellectual. Steven and stomach Ruby are both kind. But it doesn't seem that clear in all cases. The Rubies in The Answer all had their gem somewhere on the arm, sure, but so does Sapphire and she doesn't come across as wanting to demonstrate her fighting abilities. And Amethyst is typically very relaxed and easygoing (although she does have a temper) but visor Ruby was focused on the task and on pushing her team to complete the mission (although she didn't notice the barn until our Ruby mentioned it so there is that as a sign of laziness).
a quick question becausw no one seems to mention this when our ruby asked what happened last time they failed the squad laughs it off but throughout the episode the ruby with the eyeball looks worried, that theyd fail the mission and even thanks steven for helping them with their mission what if the last time they failed a ruby was destroyed and why there is a new one and what if, by sending them to neptune steven screwed them over
ooooohhh plot twist the gems find out the rubies are getting destroyed (most likely eye ruby coz she is the only one worried [ or could just be that she is the only one not naive)
Actually I do have something to say. Some believes that gem placements correlates to their personality. Just compare the rubies gem placements to those of the crystal gems
Something interesting I found was that in bubbled eyeballs weapon was a knife while the ruby we know (the one that is half of garnet) has gauntlets I find that interesting
I PERSONALLY believe... that this should have Aired about 6 months ago, that way we could all scream in unison "OMEGA RUBY CONFIRMED!!!" heheh, Pokemon tie in :3
Alright! A new video! To be honest every time you upload a steven theory it makes my day, I literally have your videos running while I sleep so thanks!
+AJ Universe. obviously. you are an amazing theorist. keep up the great work.💖🌟💖🌟 btw I'm sure Rebecca s, would gladly have you i know i would. thanks for the reply!. You're awesome.! :))
+steven universe You're (you are). srry lel XD I do agree tho. my old math teacher was Rebecca's highschool friend. So maybe she could help? IDK great video keep up the good work
I like the idea that they'll be a separate division of crystal gems. It reminds me of the teen titans movie where they call up everyone from around the planet. That could be pretty epic.
The thing about the unique gem weapon summonings is that on Barn mates Peridot states that "Lapis Lazulis are typically partial to flying and water" which implies that other Lapis Lazulis can summon wings because that's what Lapis's gem summon is . But if the gemstone placements were not on the back, how would it work? Either that or there are other flying methods they're fond of. Idk it was something that just got me thinking.
I think certain gems have their gems only on one area, I wouldn't be too surprised if peridots could only have their gem on their heads as they seem to be strictly tactician gems. But idk it's just a thought I had
+Joseph Orrick We did. We saw two or three other gems that had the same gem as Lapis. They just looked different like the Blue and Yellow Pearls are different than the Pearl we know.
I can actually see the Ruby Squad teaching CG Ruby and Sapphire more individuality. I'd absolutely love to see Ruby and Sapphire unfuse to go on a date and talk about their relationship, and see them grow individually and together. I feel like teaching the children in the fandom that they are themselves as well as their relationships with the ones they love would be a wonderful message.
Ummm actually I would like them to come back if for no reason then lapis seemed to hit it off with one of the rubies, Legge . The whole episode she was uninterested but she actually smiled talking to that ruby .
I feel like most of the gems we see will eventually become crystal gems. It makes sense to me, that Stevens compassion makes so many gems join their cause. And I don't mind it turning into a full-out army, with gems living all over the world. I mean, I don't think people quite realize that the crystal gems weren't always just Rose/Steven, Pearl, Garnet, and Amythest. During the war, there was hundreds of them (which is another reason to bubble the corrupted gems. Some of them were Crystal Gems. Some of the cluster and cluster experiments was crystal gems.) It was pretty much outright stated in the first episode with clusters (can't remember the name) when Garnet (Ruby) said "So this is what happened to them. All the ones we couldn't find."
Am I the only one who noticed that the ruby with her gem in her naval loves earth. (I mean he did bring it up in the video) WHOS OUR FAVORITE GEM WHO LOVES EARTH AND HAS A GEM IN HER NAVAL. Rose....... Coincidence???? Yea probably
Maybe it's not a coincidence if you notice that Ruby is more pinker than the rest of the group and as you said the gem is on her navel and also maybe might have been a Ruby from Pink Diamond as just how AJ said that the Rubies might have been given to the other Diamonds because Pink Diamond was destroyed.
If the crystal gem ruby were to be the other rubies mentor that would create for an interesting plot line of how ruby and sapphire would get along unfused. Right now they seem to have a relationship where they can't stand being apart from eachother, much like Romeo and Juliet and that story doesn't end well, although I'm sure neither of them will die.
+AJ Universe Really? That's all you thought of it? I thought it was so much more, like she knew something the others didn't. She seemed like something of a "veteran" Ruby, if that makes sense? Either way, this is the theory I've been waiting for since the episode premiered... yours, in particular. Please, I beg of you, as long as this show airs, provide us with these *gems* of knowledge (sorry, I couldn't resist)
It seemed to be more than that, she waited for the other rubies to enter the ship and said thank you in a very serious way like she knew they were lying but really didn't want to find Jasper anyway.
I think the creators gave us a group of characters who we could like, just so they can destroy them. This would act as an eye opener as to just how serious this upcoming war actually is to Steven and the viewers.
I Think The S.U Crew should Stop making Steven Bombs and start doing an episode a week. Don't keep us waiting for over 10 years to see the next episode.
I think it's possible that they'll have to come back, and they'll be either frantic or angry when they do. Remember, Steven sent them on a wild goose chase, and they said in their episode that they've already made mistakes. With Rubies being common soldiers it's very likely that Homeworld could decide to shatter them or one of them, with that being why they have a newer addition. They may decide to stay on earth out of fear for what might happen on homeworld. However, I don't think they would stay in the barn. If we end up seeing another place close to beach city, they might set up there.
I feel like these rubies might be the start of the growth for the crystal gems. I think when the gems fight homeworld, assuming they will, they will need many allies on their side or rather an army. I feel like this will be their first connection to gems that will join their side and show that the gems will eventually prepare for another war. I think the rubies will join the team but will leave off and come back for when that fight happens
what I find interesting is how one of them said, "thank you" at the end. it was said not as mere politeness, but almost like it was relieved or grateful. it makes me wonder if this ruby is already a rebel per say.
When I saw this video, I was so worried that you made a video on the theory I was making! But your theory was cool and I like the idea of the rubies joining!
Good video! I agree, the Rubies have such a personality that they probably will become friends to the crystal gems and either confront or not carry Yellow Diamond's mission. However, I don't think they will stay on Earth, but rather go to space as a team for themselves, and possibly even help the Crystal Gems if homeworld decides to return to Earth again.
I've been wondering about what your thoughts were on that mysterious form of matter above the Rubies' ship was. Was it some form of anti-matter or dark matter that somehow holds the key to faster than light travel? Garnet did state that Homeworld is in a entirely different galaxy. Imagine just how fast Gem spacecraft must be able to travel to get to and from Earth as quickly as they have been.
Maybe it teleported from the moon base? There was that weird device in moon base, who knows if it has access to Homeworld as a secret teleported designed just for the Diamonds
Looks like some kind of "pocket warp pad". Like they are traveling in warp spese, but without warp stream like when Steven in "Warp Tour" but more controlled and faster.
I had the idea that they used a controlable, point singularity focused on the ship that would easily allow them to glide through the universe. If you don't know what a point singularity, it's described as the center of a black hole that's infinitely dense and infinitely small. This would also explain the "spagetttifying" effect that happened with the ruby ship when it flew off.
Can you make a theory about same kind of gems have different weapons? For example, if rubies who are the same gem can have different weapons or something like that?
I wonder if a gem's gem placement has an effect on their personality because when I first saw this episode and when Navy first came out of the roaming eye and said "oh what a beautiful planet" it reminded me of Rose
I notice how Naval Ruby and Leg Ruby's colour is closer to the Pink side of Red, whereas the others are more Red heading towards Orange and Yellow, and Leg and Naval are the kinder more timid Rubies compared to the others. I'd take a guess that Naval and Leg Ruby where Pink Diamond affiliates whereas the others have always been Yellow Diamond affiliates. As since Red isn't either Pink or Yellow it falls between the two, Rubies could have originally belonged to Pink and Yellow Diamond as a shared Gem class, but since Pink Diamond is gone Rubies now belong to Yellow Diamond solely.
i like the idea that a gem's placement determines their personality, at least to an extent. the three rubies from "the answer" all had their gems placed on their hand or arm, and they act somewhat similar to the arm-gem ruby in "hit the diamond", wanting to show off their strength and insisting to fight. but i do agree that being off of homeworld let them further explore their individual personalities, without the fear of yellow diamond shattering them for behaving as they please.
You should do a theory on possible fusions for the future, based on previous theories of your beliefs on who will join the Crystal Gems. And you could also bring up the topic of potential/ possible fusions from the past, such as Garnet and Rose.
I love the idea of them joining the crystal gems. Also did you notice that one Ruby said thank you to the crystal gems. and the crystal gems will need more members of the war with homeworld
you should talk about how it seems like the higher ranking gems have clothing that isnt glued to their skin. like in the episode log date where peridot is amused and happy that shes wearing boxers and says "yay clothing that isnt glued to my skin"
I was surprised at how much I ended up liking them since my initial reaction was also basically thinking that it'd be boring to have five rubies around at the same time. I could imagine them working under Jasper eventually, either as rivals or reserve allies to the Crystal Gems, and I really hope they'll be back eventually.
Something that I believe should be noted is that gemstone placement may be related to a gems personality. The Ruby who has her gem on her stomach is the kindest of the Rubies, and is extremely interested in Earth and called it "beautiful", much like Rose Quartz, who also has her gem on her stomach.
I'd really love to hear an updated version, part 2 of sorts, of this theory containing information we got from "Bubbled". Specifically how the pre-war eye Ruby could summon a gem weapon, and that this gem weapon was different than our Garnet Ruby's weapon.
My thoughts from their individuality is that Home-world after seeing how individualist gems could summon powerful weapons while conformist ones couldn't they experimented with limited individualism in some of their army corps to see if they could summon weapons or at the very least experiment with corps that have more individualists to see if they would be affective in combat after seeing the successful individualist armies of Rose
Hey aj, I had a theroy on the rubies. I think the Crystal gems may accept the rubies as allies. They could get info on homeworld as well as Yellow Dimond, while the rubies could get mentored (as you said in the video) by our Ruby. And, if Yellow Dimond were to attack, they could call upon the Ruby-fusion to help them out. Food for thought.
I don't know if I missed this but in the episode where we first see our ruby and sapphire meet all those rubies were similar so I'm assuming the more diverse rubies are newer or something that started after ruby and sapphire met
I do think that they could very likely join the crystal gems but after they are 'trained' so to speak that they could be put in a sector, guarding a certain place or being a lookout of some sort.
It's also possible that Rubies who interact with the higher class (ie guards) are the ones who act the same while the Rubies who are out on the field have distinct personalities
When I first saw it in thought that the reason these rubies are all different, than what we have seen in the past, is because before, gems of the same type were all the same, but now homeworld has found a way to produce gems with different personalities due to advancements in technology.
I had an idea albeit one with very little to talk about -- the potential for Stevonnie in combat. As we've seen when they fight together, Steven and Connie display a very coordinated and competent duo. It would only seem logical to expand upon this and see them actually use their hybrid fusion in battle, with Stevonnie using both sword and shield simultaneously. Also, it would be pretty damn cool if you think about it.
I have a question why isn't there a new Steven Universe episode showing up in Cartoon Network. the next episode is Steven floats and it is nowhere on schedule on Cartoon Network of it airing when will the new episodes start showing up
***** what day was it after Barn mates they only said one show per day of course the drill and watermelon Island were both together episode butt it wasn't aired in America yet but in France it already did and people already seen it online even in Wikipedia it said still not been shown in America but in France it has. It is very confusing what Cartoon Network is scheduling. At first Ninjago is showing and I don't understand why they could do it later on in order to show Steven Universe first or even some holding Powerpuff Girls or Teen Titans Go on till they get the next season or something like that setup.
Another thing to think about is this, once you have a two individuals, their personalities begin to become distinct. A ruby who speaks second puts the other one at a crossroad. Does she not agree, agree, or compromise? after making those preferences over and over, rubies begin to develop distinction and different personalities. Another thing is Ruby often observe different things as they scout in different directions
Like you said in your gem weapons video there weapons are part on their individuality. Mabye homeworld realized that to become stronger they had to give everyone a little bit of freedom as long as they follow orders. This would allow gems to have weapons making everyone individually stronger.
If having a gem weapon is tied to the personality of the individual, it would make sense that foot soldiers would be allowed to have more different personalities in order to have different weapons. It's also possible that Rubies were allowed to be more distinct because they clearly aren't the most intelligent, so the Diamonds assumed that they would not be smart enough to organize a rebellion.
I like the idea of the rubies joining and Steven tries to talk to one of them but all of them respond and it's confusing so Steven goes down the line and gives them nicknames. Though I feel that it's be unlikely for them to join, there may be some instance where they meet again and have to cooperate even for a short period of time
Great video, as always! Do you mean to discuss the Rubies' disinterest in the earth, the cluster and the CGs? You mentioned it in this video, but you didn't talk about why the rubies wanted to fetch Jasper in the first place. I think it's one of three things: 1. Jasper is a respected and valued gem, and Homeworld is willing to ignore the CGs and the cluster to get her back 2. Homeworld believes the cluster is going to form any day now and wants to evacuate Jasper before it happens, not caring about the CGs because they think they will blow up along with the earth 3. Homeworld has realized the cluster has been sabotaged and won't form, and are planning to launch an attack against earth, which is why they want to get Jasper back on their side.
You know what question I would ask to Rebecca if I could? Do you plan on doing a sequel series along the lines of Legend of Korra some time after Steven Universe is over?
Ironic how he says that the crystal gem ruby could teach the other rubies about being their own people while the crystal gem ruby hasn't been her own person since the war
I do agree that they could possibly be crystal gems. Going back to what lapis said about home world being different, she could mean that there is far more freedom instead of less. This would explain why the rubies have different characteristics and why lapis isn't used to the difference. Also, the rubies seem to know about Jasper and the Earth mission. The cluster was put in the ground after the war so that Earth would have some use.
I feel like Homeworld may have put Rubies with different personalities together because with different personalities they might be more likely to have different ideas and perspectives that may be crucial to future missions.
I don't think that the rubies acting as individuals contradicts anything. Personality comes from both your genetics and your experiences. So no two people can ever be the same. Now I would assume that logically the same must apply to gems, their personality coming from what gem they are, and their experiences. So all gems would be unique, however home world, and more importantly the diamonds, view them all as being the same.
Hey, AJ. Maybe the personality is not the most important thing in fusion, but the *type* of gem. They may have different behaviors, but when they fuse, they are still being a ruby, wich, technically, does not form something different from what they're used to be.
Hey AJ, do you think you can do a video about gem placement and coloring. For example, the the Rubies all have different placements, Amethyst having a chest gem (also who was Anethyst made for), Paradot having a head gem even tho she was made for Yellow Diamond. Basically, why some gems have different placements than the Diamonds they were made for. And one last thing, gem coloring, Sapphire and Lapis are blue so they were made for Blue Diamond but Paradot and Jasper were made for Yellow Diamond but they're green and orange, respectfully.
Gem placement, could it be that gems with the same place for their gemstone have similar personality ? like Peridot and Pearl, Rosa and Naive Ruby. (just a though)
1:00 Actually, I think the nicknames for the Rubies might be based on gem placement. Army's arm, Navy's navel, Eyeball's eyeball, Leggie's leg, and Doc's gem is close to their heart (close enough, right?). I also think the personalities for a few of them might be based on either their nicknames, gem placement, or both. Kinda hard NOT to eventually figure it if you think about it. Guess our Ruby would be Handy. XD
Interesting video! Personally I got the opposite impression about Homeworld's stance on individuality though- that as a reaction to the Rebellion, Homeworld allowed individual Gems to express their personality a bit more- after all, the Rube Cube from The Answer looked and behaved near-identically, whereas the Ruby Squad in Hit The Diamond are a lot more unique. It'd be a 'give them an inch so they don't take a mile' sort of situation.
ok let me come out and say that I have been thinking and I have no idea/no theory's on who or what the temple/cliff side is showing, I don't know if you have done a theory on it or not but if you haven't please do one. I think it would be interesting
Anyone else want an entire episode to the ruby squad arriving on Jupiter and searching for jasper? It's as aj said all of these characters have distinct personalities that a lot of thought went into, it would be a total waste if these characters weren't explored in the near future. I would love to see more of these characters!
Neptune
Both are gas planets. - _-
that would amazing and hilarious
yuh it would be funny
yassssss
And you will be a crystal gem, and you will be a crystal gem.Everyone will be a crystal gem.
Well they sorta need an army. I imagine the Pearls, the Rubies, various other Homeworld gems, healed corrupted gems, and humans will join the CGs.
Thanks Oprah
Calebite corrupted gems.cough* cough*
Oprah is Pink Diamond
+Heather Filyaw and donald trump is yellow diamond, everything is clear now
Gem placement correlates with the personality.
What about Amethyst and the Leader Ruby (Doc)? Their's are on their chests.
Super good idea though
Oh wait, I remember something! Peridot said Amethyst should be the leader of their group. It's likely that she was intended to be one. It makes sense because Yellow Diamond's gem is on her chest too.
Yeah same concept, Amythest is over cooked and made on Earth. If she came out at the right time for the war, she'd be a loyal, strong leader for the quarts soldiers.
What about Lapis' back gem?
Would it classify as a leader gem? Or something else?
you should do a theory about the topic going on down in the comments about gem placement correlating with personality.
I don't have to say anything about it.
fair enough
Dan Howlter I'll say this much at least. I'm sure that it's something that the crew thinks about at the design stage, but the idea that it affects the characters in universe goes against the idea of free will and individuality that the show stands for.
I want to argue but i know you have a much better grasp on the show than i do. You've pointed out stuff about the show that i would have never even thought of. Great video as always, keep up the good work AJ :)
I think ruby is a boy cuz one of the other Ruby's had overalls on and no shirt and I saw no brest
They were fun but they didn't feel very main cast material. It'd be so crowded. Doesn't mean they can't be important in some way but having them in less rather than more seems better. That being said I did like them, seeing their high jinks even as an enemy would be good enough.
I've seen you everywhere wtf
Keep in mind the Crystal Gems are supposed to be, and likely will be an army. While they may not have much focus, chances are, they will join the main cast.
DUDE I just thought of something that probably won't happen but what if the temple got too crowed so the rubies got out and got jobs around beach city . Navy can go to the pizza shop. Army can move boxes at the big donut. And so one
+Joshtheboss 2 and when stuff goes down they could reconnect with themselves and the crystal gems
Joshtheboss 2 That'd be awesome actually tbh
I've always kind of, in the back of my mind, thought that Homeworld might end up being like Cluster Prime from that old Nickelodeon show My Life As A Teenage Robot. Throughout most of the series we only met the leader of Cluster Prime, Queen Vexus, and her top lieutenants, who were all warmongering, human-hating aliens who wanted to conquer Earth. I'd think it would be an interesting plot-twist if later on it was discovered that the whole Earth Rebellion thing had been kept under wraps by Yellow Diamond for her own personal vendetta, and that most of Homeworld had no idea we even exist.
That would actually be pretty cool! :D
I like the idea of them joining only because more people are going to be needed if there is going to be a 2nd war which is very likely because Yellow Diamond isn't just going to show up by her lonesome.
but yd dosent even know peridot is still alive
I'd like them to become close friends who turn on Homeworld in the last few episodes in the last season.
Or the inverse, we go to the gem home world and lead a surprise attack having less to deal with. This could even lead into the gems being capture, learning about Rose, and some of the home world horrors.
If there was more then 1 can't remember it being said.
I'm not sure that the distinctness of the Rubies is drastic enough for long term plots. Something tells me that a society that threatens to dispose of those who show individuality wouldn't bat an eye at shattering five Rubies.
I agree with this. I never got the idea that the rubies were carbon copies, rather they all thought the same fundamentally.
Amanda Troutman Exactly. I do like the idea of seeing another Ruby join the team, but I don't see it happening in the long run
Yeah this is what I thought the video was going to be about :/
Doc and Amethyst both have their's on their chests. I do enjoy the theory that gem placement corresponds with an aspect of personality, (especially with the chakras) but I'm having trouble connecting them.
Peridot did say that Amethyst should be the leader. And if she wasn't defectvice, that would make her leader material
I don't see how that statement has anything to do with gem placement or personality. Let's see, getting the exact quote from the episode...
"You outrank everyone on your team. They should be listening to you. You're a strong, singular, fully functional soldier... despite the fact that you're defective."
And before that her comments about the others were all things like Pearl's problem is that she's just a pearl, Garnet's problem is that she's a fusion, and Steven's problem is that he's some sort of gross hybrid.
And Amethyst is typically very relaxed and easygoing (although she does have a temper) but visor Ruby was focused on the task and on pushing her team to complete the mission (although she didn't notice the barn until our Ruby mentioned it so there is that as a sign of laziness).
this theory sounds amazing and I believe it! Nice jib AJ!
*job
Chisk oh my god
+Tearrible what?
Chewy The Goat your profile picture is chisk XD
+Tearrible Yes omfg I freaking love UT SO MUCH
a quick question becausw no one seems to mention this
when our ruby asked what happened last time they failed the squad laughs it off but throughout the episode the ruby with the eyeball looks worried, that theyd fail the mission and even thanks steven for helping them with their mission
what if the last time they failed a ruby was destroyed and why there is a new one
and what if, by sending them to neptune steven screwed them over
UH OH. u could be right ;~;. that makes sense
O_O that makes 100% sense
Wow, I hope that's not the case, I love them all, I mean who can hate nooby? (Leggy?)
ooooohhh plot twist the gems find out the rubies are getting destroyed (most likely eye ruby coz she is the only one worried [ or could just be that she is the only one not naive)
Hmmmm that kinda explains why the leader thought that there is one more ruby
If you really want to know it they'll join the Crystal Gems just ask Sapphire/Garnet. I'm sure she can tell you if that probability exists.
Sounds like a great idea, except one problem: she's a fictional character.
So late yet... I immediately clicked when I saw it....
Actually I do have something to say. Some believes that gem placements correlates to their personality. Just compare the rubies gem placements to those of the crystal gems
from overwatch? nope. I found this years ago
Something interesting I found was that in bubbled eyeballs weapon was a knife while the ruby we know (the one that is half of garnet) has gauntlets I find that interesting
I PERSONALLY believe... that this should have Aired about 6 months ago, that way we could all scream in unison "OMEGA RUBY CONFIRMED!!!" heheh, Pokemon tie in :3
hehehehe good one
I would've liked it because, oh I don't know, I NEED MY EPISODES AND I NEED THEM QWICK YOU PICKIN UP WHAT AHM PUTTIN DOWN?
Alright! A new video! To be honest every time you upload a steven theory it makes my day, I literally have your videos running while I sleep so thanks!
I personally think that to fight Homeworld, the Crystal Gems would need a literal army. The Rubies could contribute to the fight.
Probably
I think so to
Spoiler Alert The Ruby Squad Is Floating In Space
I love how AJ's outro originated from him forgetting what to say, resulting in a long awkward pause that stuck.
yup
dude you should work for Steven universe you would make good and interesting plot lines.💖🌟🎸
If you ever bump into Rebecca Sugar, be sure to tell her you think so for me ;)
+AJ Universe. obviously.
you are an amazing theorist.
keep up the great work.💖🌟💖🌟
btw I'm sure Rebecca s, would gladly have you i know i would.
thanks for the reply!. You're awesome.! :))
+steven universe You're (you are). srry lel XD I do agree tho. my old math teacher was Rebecca's highschool friend. So maybe she could help? IDK great video keep up the good work
+Helen Hu really that's awesome
Yeah, sadly they cant get in contact. Im pretty sure Rebecca is busy tho
Yeah I thought about that too cause in The Answer, we saw other Lapis Lazuli's and two of them had gems on their chest.
+Storm Bringer777 we never saw other lapis lazuli in The Answer!!
+Joseph Orrick We did. We saw two or three other gems that had the same gem as Lapis. They just looked different like the Blue and Yellow Pearls are different than the Pearl we know.
I love how the rubies are so silly but they feel like they're tough. Anyway, great vid AJ
The last theory you posted did not let me wach it :( It said it's blocked in uk :( :( :(
Sorry Jasper that you have no single to get a Aj Universe video where your at in the hole in uk
How come your not at China yet?
Kayleigh Fulcher Idk my next stop is in Japan then china
+Jasper So is your gem cracked. Also just use a vpn.
Wouldn't it be blocked on mask island or something?
There's ways around region locks just use google~
I can actually see the Ruby Squad teaching CG Ruby and Sapphire more individuality. I'd absolutely love to see Ruby and Sapphire unfuse to go on a date and talk about their relationship, and see them grow individually and together. I feel like teaching the children in the fandom that they are themselves as well as their relationships with the ones they love would be a wonderful message.
The Ruby Squad is a crew of Redshirts.
I'm glad you addressed this because I knew they were important but I couldn't think of why so thanks for making this video
Some of the cluster and cluster experiments was crystal gems.)
It was pretty much outright stated in the first episode with clusters (can't remember the name) when Garnet (Ruby) said "So this is what happened to them. All the ones we couldn't find."
Yassss, and they need a army to fight Yellow Diamond, right?
Doesn't gem placement correspond with their personality? So navel placement = Love and caring?
What if that ruby is the Rose Quartz of the Rubies idk
+Queen J Naomi no
+KC :D the gem placement doesnt correspond with personality
If the crystal gem ruby were to be the other rubies mentor that would create for an interesting plot line of how ruby and sapphire would get along unfused. Right now they seem to have a relationship where they can't stand being apart from eachother, much like Romeo and Juliet and that story doesn't end well, although I'm sure neither of them will die.
My question is what did Ruby mean when she said thank you to the crystal gems before leaving? Did I miss something?
The Crystal Gems gave her and her team mates the info that they needed. Yeah, it was a lie, but the Rubies didn't know that.
+AJ Universe Oh okay. I thought it was hinting towards something else haha. Thanks so much for replying :)
+Heather Filyaw She was saying thank you, but she was just suspicious that's all.
Ehhh it's not their fault for the scheduling, CN is the one with these fucked up showtimes
The Crewniverse would adore that. Scheduling is a Cartoon Network issue, not anything the SU people have the remotest amount of control over.
more than 10 years half of us will move on to other shows or die of thirst for more Steven Universe
I would like that too but the Crewniverse has no control over it. Then again CN keeps playing that dumb Teen Titans 24/7
I agree. It should be like My Little Pony or something where they post weekly.
This is outdated. All the rubies get blown into space
I feel like the arm one was the same one from the answer
Their gems are on opposite arms.
Yes but she got pupfth
+Tahmina Barkzai but there have been no instances of a gem's gem location changing after being poofed, so we cannot implement that idea.
+Abel Judah I didn't even realize it was on the other arm
+Eric Garza I made that mistake at first as well
what I find interesting is how one of them said, "thank you" at the end. it was said not as mere politeness, but almost like it was relieved or grateful. it makes me wonder if this ruby is already a rebel per say.
Ah, always fun to see 3 comments saying first
FIRST (now it's 4)
+kirby lover Isn't that technically not a comment; a reply to one?
+KC :D a reply is also known as a comment, because I am commenting/replying to YOUR comment
never cease to amaze me✊ keep up the great work
When I saw this video, I was so worried that you made a video on the theory I was making!
Always psyched when a new upload comes on! I wonder what they'll think of Neptune. (Specially since that planet rains diamonds)
I love how you used Pearl's talking to represent your rambling lol
I've been wondering about what your thoughts were on that mysterious form of matter above the Rubies' ship was. Was it some form of anti-matter or dark matter that somehow holds the key to faster than light travel? Garnet did state that Homeworld is in a entirely different galaxy. Imagine just how fast Gem spacecraft must be able to travel to get to and from Earth as quickly as they have been.
True, that's some Sci-Fi stuff right thar.
+Metagrossfreak
If that were the case, then why did Peridot need to fix the galaxy warp before she could come to earth?
I had the idea that they used a controlable, point singularity focused on the ship that would easily allow them to glide through the universe. If you don't know what a point singularity, it's described as the center of a black hole that's infinitely dense and infinitely small. This would also explain the "spagetttifying" effect that happened with the ruby ship when it flew off.
Can you make a theory about same kind of gems have different weapons? For example, if rubies who are the same gem can have different weapons or something like that?
I wonder if a gem's gem placement has an effect on their personality because when I first saw this episode and when Navy first came out of the roaming eye and said "oh what a beautiful planet" it reminded me of Rose
who knew that a show based around the concept of rocks could be so good.
I would love to see the Ruby squad joining the Crystal Gems
I feel like the crew is slowly developing a team of gems for a climatic battle.
In the episode, the captain gem refers to the "new" gem as "newbie" when they are leaving. Or I could have just misheard her saying "ruby," idk.
When I first saw it in thought that the reason these rubies are all different, than what we have seen in the past, is because before, gems of the same type were all the same, but now homeworld has found a way to produce gems with different personalities due to advancements in technology.
I so would love to see episode just with those Rubies. They are just so adorkable
I've been watching a few of your vids AJ and they are epic.
I don't believe this is going to be the last time we see these gems. But I don't think they are going to join the crystal gems.
I LOVE this theory and the idea of the rubies coming back and being Crystal Gems!!
It would be great if they joined the crystal gems! I really hope that happens now!
***** ok thanks
Well John Scott, That's because the list doesn't put the episodes in order.🤗
Oh wait... NEVERMIND that has nothing to do with your question
I think it would be extremely interesting for all these rubies to join the CG. Especially since they are already unique
I very much agree. and also the gems do need a lot more help so the Rubies could be very useful in the coming up battle.
I was too busy laughing at Lapis's lackluster involvement to make theories of my own.
I would like that the ruby squad joins the crystal gems! It would interesting to see how the rubies develop a relationship with other gems.
I can really see them joining the group it would also make great for a final battle with more members helping stopping yellow diamond
I like the idea of the rubies joining and Steven tries to talk to one of them but all of them respond and it's confusing so Steven goes down the line and gives them nicknames. Though I feel that it's be unlikely for them to join, there may be some instance where they meet again and have to cooperate even for a short period of time
So how do you explain them having a new member w/o ever returning to homeworld recently or there being other gem controlled planets nearby.
Great video, as always!
Do you mean to discuss the Rubies' disinterest in the earth, the cluster and the CGs? You mentioned it in this video, but you didn't talk about why the rubies wanted to fetch Jasper in the first place. I think it's one of three things:
1. Jasper is a respected and valued gem, and Homeworld is willing to ignore the CGs and the cluster to get her back
2. Homeworld believes the cluster is going to form any day now and wants to evacuate Jasper before it happens, not caring about the CGs because they think they will blow up along with the earth
Ironic how he says that the crystal gem ruby could teach the other rubies about being their own people while the crystal gem ruby hasn't been her own person since the war
do you think any ruby making a fusion with sapphire would make garnet but with 1 different gem placement ?
3:20 WHAT EPISODE IS THAT FROM!??!
It's from the episode - The Answer
Hope this helped :)
Of Ruby & Sapphire in the rain? It's from "The Answer" where Garnet tells Steven the story of how she became... Garnet 😊
but Sapphire is not wearing the transparent thing on her hips. instead, she's wearing something blue and opaque
+That Thing well it's definitely from "The Answer" I even re-watched to be 100% sure (not that I minded, it's a favorite of mine) 😄
Oh thank goodness! 👏👏 I thought you'd never mention the rubies!
"I won't be using the names they are given, but will refer to them by their gem placements." That's what their names are. Everyone besides Doc.
Also, what was with that thank-you from Eye Ruby?
What about the part where the one ruby says 'thank you' at the very end?
