Wayne please follow this project all the way through! I love old boats, Luke is a cool guy, he's smart and driven. I'm glad he is using this boat for this. It's always sad to see a boat get neglected and rot away to nothing. His idea to use it for a crab stand is genius! But the fact that he took it past just being an idea and actually getting it done is commendable!

I've been following Luke since last year.
Serious respect for him and what he does and how he got started.
Even more respect to his wife for being a fisherman's wife.

I love how Luke shares so much knowledge about the Chesapeake fishery, and his knowledge of boats. I used to live in Solomon's Island MD, so its neat to see all this again. He better weld on that brass propeller, otherwise I could see it being stolen for scrap money.

So, THANK YOU Mr. Wayne, with lots of love see ya on the next oneS.

I have been following Luke for about a month now. I bought a SeaRay 39 Sport Cruiser in Pasadena MD. and we moved it 336 miles to Bridgeton, NC. by way of the Intracoastal Waterway. I have been living aboard it here since August, 2020. I wonder how Great the Dora Lynn would look with a natural wood finish on the outside of the hull. It would really show off the construction techniques mentioned by Luke.

Good morning guys I grew up working on Wooden Boats both fishing and fixing there are a lot of work but it sure sounds nice to listen to the water against them at night time when you're sleeping it is a dying art I've built a lot of wooden Skiffs still like my wood for fiberglass over wood also I spray polyurea bed liner material for the lay person to understand a little more intense than that but I spray that right over the wood

Thanks for the update on Luke’s project Wayne he’s gotten a lot done since he just posted his vid on towing the boat home, being a retired boat builder it’s sad to see this boat just being used as a prop , I myself would have glassed the hull but that’s just me, I hope the crab stand works out for Luke , but that’s going to be a lot of work to add to his load, then he’ll really be crabby 🦀

I enjoy learning about the history of these boats and I think it's cool what Luke is doing with this boat to preserve it in maybe a not so common manner. I'm sure your audience will like this content as well. Best of luck to both of you.

That hull shape reminds me of the 104' army rescue vessel hull conversion that i work on for 22 years .
With two 6-71s. 3 to 1 twin disc transmissions. 32x32 three blades props. At 1,800 rpm the gps showed 18 knots. The one i worked on was conventionally planked. Some were cross planked. I totally agree that wooden boat hulls are a lot of upkeep. Took us months to replank one side above the water line. Replace and sister rib so many . We rolled on and tipped 8 gallons on z-spar white one hot summer night in LA harbor at newmarks under the orange sodium lights. I said. John. This paint looks pink. Nah he replied. Its just the sodium lights. We hit our cabins about 2 am. In the morning it was pastel pink. We called the paint supplier. On that batch was recalled. Just bring it back. Took a few months but it faded to white.

5:45 it bad luck to rename a boat anyway, the only time you can name a boat is when she's been built. And if you rebuild a boat, at that time depending on how much she's been rebuilt, the bad luck ain't as bad

12 years ago i picked up a 1960 wooden Norwegian 13.10 meter fishing trawler for the price of £1 as needed about 30% of the boards replacing and to tow it the 16 miles back to my boat yard we had to use a crash pump just to keep up with the water
after getting it back to my yard we got the boat lifted up on the hard and i spent the next 4 months stripping and replacing wood then fiberglassed the full boat and ended up fitting it out as a liveaboard and spent 2 years in there and then sold it on
