AP Biology Students Study How a Single-Celled Protist Ingests Food

Ms. Nutter’s AP Bio class did a lab called "Phagocytosis
and Vacuole Formation in Tetrahymena" to investigate
how a single-celled protist ingests food. This method of ingestion is similar to how immune cells
of our own bodies ingest and destroy invading bacteria. Students used microscopes to watch this process in action
and tested the effect of temperature on the rate of vacuole
formation.
