Skirting will attract animals. We have a trailer house in the U.P. that has been there since 1975. We never put skirting on it. Our neighbor did and he got animals under his place every single year. It held moisture too. He is on his third trailer since we put ours in
Ryan, you always give a lot of thought to your plans. Don't ever apologize for how you build or design things because you only have to satisfy yourself. A DIY person calls it trial and error. A company that builds things to sell calls it research and development which sounds important but it's the same thing! Carry on.
Love this Ryan this is the Bees Knees !!! Going to keep the tanks free from SNOW !!! Did someone say SNOW ??? Well by Golly Ryan it is 81 degrees right now and it is 948 am Labor Day !!! We are to get to 100 !!! Humidity is higher than the temps right now !!! But what else is new haha giggle !!!
Some folks may think your thought process doesn't make sense, but you always make it work. Great protection for the tanks. Hope you get to feeling better.
Looks great. I recommend that you chain the tanks to the wall. You would not want some drunk bear staggering around knocking a loose tank off the shelf.
When I lived on the Oregon coast, I had 3 one hundred pound tanks and 4 forty pound tanks and 5 twenty pound tanks. During the winter, I heated with wood, but only left the property once a month. The tank set up I had lasted 9 months.
Awesome tank cover thingy. Sorry you caught covid. You're a better man than I. I slept for two days, and hurt the whole time. It's good you're not 75. I'm anxious for the next project.
Thanks for the videos. I am going out to practice with my vintage bow for deer season. Surprised you don't have a wood stove. You should build a railing on the steps so you don't break a rib like an old man again. I love 2 part epoxy. It holds things that it shouldn't better than stuff that should hold things.
Re the wood stove issue, Ryan has said that the wood he has on the property doesn't produce very much heat. He also wants to be able to leave the property without having everything inside freeze in the first night. With gas heat he can set the thermostat above freezing and not have to worry about it for a few days. Although burning wood can be an economical way to heat there are negative considerations too, including the dirt, bugs, ash, creosote and the effort required to keep a fire burning. Having said that I would heat with firewood at our cabin if the insurance agent hadn't told us that there was an exception for any fire caused by a wood stove and the company would not renew the policy it if we got one.😖
Over time the sun will form the shingles to lay flat. You shouldn't have to do anything to them. Also, you should think about building a generator shack so you can have your generator running and be a little more quiet. Our outdoor kitchen deck at camp is almost finished. We're building it out of scrap lumber we find. So, it's taking a little longer than it should.
@@DeterminedDIYer Would be, but I think certain parts have a high water level. Might fill it with water and kill the it. The generator, I mean. Was watching outdoor boys rebuilding his drive to his cabin. 🤔 But maybe his dirt is harder.
Hello from the Netherlands. I think a "lookalike dog house" to put the generator in would be a nice "before winter" project. the generator motor can even run normally while still being protected from the weather. a little sound insulation on the inside and you will hear it much less. unfortunately Ryan doesn't read the comments thanks for the video Ryan . Sincerely Hollandduck
Surprised about the Covid. You are so isolated. I am in city and got it last year, now I am suffering from long Covid, very weak, seeing a cardiologist to see what damage to my heart there is.
Love your videos! By the way, you wear your ear buds upside down. Put them in so they stick up, then tuck the end inside your ear lobe. More comfortable and they’ll never fall out.
I LOVE that propane setup. 160 pounds that you can manage by yourself. I WILL be doing this on my cabin. Saves me having to ensure the propane company can get down my road. Those splitters worked out great. You could over time acquire extra 40lb tanks too and have full ones on standby. Little roof is cool too, I found myself talking to you a lot on this one "I'm going to take these back down and route the edges" "me: I agree that'll look great" 😂
Once again Excellent Video Coffee ☕️ Ringworm Start the day 🎉 That's hilarious 😂 I totally invision that. I totally talk to myself during every project. 😂 He invites conversation😂🎉 It's all good. Cheers
So.... Lil trick when you don't have a Tapcon or other form of concrete screw, Take 3/16 HD bit like normal and drill through material and concrete, you can use either two gun 16's driven into hole at same time or a common 16 and some tie wire. When you use the tie wire insert wire into hole first all the way to bottom of hole, bend to 90 on top of material then drive your "Common" 16 into hole. It's not perfect but it get's the job done securely. I use this almost anytime I'm attaching forms to other concrete or blacktop. Hope this helps you or anyone else on channel!
You might want to consider wrapping those rubber propane hoses with aluminum foil to keep squirrels and other critters from gnawing on them . Happened to my sister at a campground in NJ. They had just set up and were ready to cook and heard a leak from the line. Campground mgr. said squirrels do it all the time. Sold them a new set of hoses and recommended the aluminum foil.
I wonder if you had one of the variants... You are young and healthy don't be tempted to compromise your immunity now. Glad to see you are back doing things. Full recovery will take a couple of more weeks so go easy.
Another great video as always love the propane tank set up should keep the ice from falling on the tops of the cylinders can’t believe the cabin is almost done. You did a very nice job love to see Tito‘s cabin build hope to see you next Saturday
Worm: mentioned it before! Need to install skirting with insulation around bottom of your cabin. 1) Will keep real cold from bottom of your floors.2) will provide protection for storage under your cabin3) will keep animals from getting under your cabin 4) I installed around bottom of my cabin and it works great!! Give it a try👍 B Deacon Manitoba Canada 🇨🇦
Gotta camper in a remote location. Bought the dual fuel generator. Running the generator off of propane SIGNIFICANTLY increases the time between oil changes. It is really remarkable. You lose a little bit of power compared to gas, but propane doesn't go bad, doesn't need Sta-Bil and never gums up the carb. You can always use gas when available and convenient. Strongly recommend dual-fuel generator.
somebody else made a comment on skirting around the cabin, i agree, using the bubble wrap foil on the inside and tarp or six mil plastic on the ground for moisture protection, enjoying your vidieos.
Another awesome video. Sorry you got Covid. Must have been on one of your trips to town. Glad you are feeling better. Saw my name on the table..... awesome!!! Can't wait till next week. Thanks Ryan. ❤️❤️😎👍✌️
Said it last year and will say again. Add a simple rail to your stairs for safety. After you got hurt last year thought it would have made your to do list. Views miss your videos when you're laid up. And personally I don't like people getting hurt. I am not into pain for anyone. Take care and keep sharing your adventures. Thanks.
I stumbled upon your channel a couple years ago and now have never missed an episode! I REALLY like this propane set up and plan to replicate at my cabin in Vermont! Great idea!
Very Nice work Bryan, woke up this morning to watch this video and now im heading up to the cabin to work on my propane setup. Thanks for the idea and stay Strong and Enjoy.
Refill the BIG heavy awkward propane shower tank late fall (timing is everything), then if/when it runs out before spring, supplement using the 40#ers until snow gone time…? Btw. Complete recovery from Covid can be a long, very slow, and frustrating process. Good luck with it. May you completely recover amazingly fast! Ps. I enjoy your wacky projects and vids
I think you did an awesome job with that the way to set them propane tanks up and give them protection and solid basin that you built you're one smart heck of a guy aren't you😊
I was somewhat surprised to see a former San Diego boat rat using a clear urethane finish rather than traditional spar varnish outdoors. IDK, maybe the UV resistance of urethanes has improved or there is enough shade for urethane to survive. There is also a good chance that Ryan didn't want to bother chasing down a can of traditional varnish. A lot of states have banned old-fashioned varnish because it's solvent-based but I think that Michigan still allows the sale if it. (Man O' War Spar Varnish from McCloskey/Valspar in satin or gloss is about $100 a gallon online.) As always, thanks for the video Ryan ! 72.0K
I had covid 3 weeks ago, still got the cough and the fatigue is much less. I am not vaccinated, a nurse who has taken care of more than 700 people with covid, my first time.
Hey covid is still pretty Gnarly so give your body a break and rest when you need. Your shed roof for the tanks is really pretty awesome. Now to the skirting and maybe a boot room porch off your front door??? Sounds like a great project before winter.😊
Just ur valves I'll bet she. Will run better & new. Plug & sorry to hear u are sick it sucks to be sick & now u get it that's to bad good luck & God bless
As someone that got covid, than long covid, do not beat on yourself. It is no joke. Your body needs to reset and recover. Do your stuff at your space and beat. If you need to rest, do it. Those that do not like it can FO.
Welcome to Minecraft in the woods.
I love the humor and humility. If you ever do a stand up special, you have my permission to use that for the name of your show: "Humor and Humility".
You need to get some skirting around the base of the cabin. It will make a big difference next winter. Love the cabin build series.
Ha!!! For him, winter is on the doorsteps... Michigan UP.
I agree 100%
If you insulate the floor you dont need skirting. It also holds moisture under the cabin.
Skirting will attract animals. We have a trailer house in the U.P. that has been there since 1975. We never put skirting on it. Our neighbor did and he got animals under his place every single year. It held moisture too. He is on his third trailer since we put ours in
You obviously love Trump and you're Canadian

When you cut a bolt or all thread, always put a nut on first. Then when you are done, you can back the nut off and it realigns the threads.
You are absolutely hilarious... You build like I do. Enjoying this so much!
Morning Ringers!
Morning!

Napping increases as we age. You're just in what us elderly call the "practice stage."
It’s the Covid an the rhythm of the wind! leave it open the critters would love it! Can’t wait till watch the next video
Those propane bottles never had it so good
Morning crew ☕
Morning!
Came out great, I think the same design for over the front door/porch would look good and keep the cabin dry.
Great idea! Better HURRY. Winter is baring down in Michigan like a downhill freight train…
Keep not Injured Ryan🍀✨🙌🚜

I’m so sorry you have been sick, it might take another 2 weeks to feel normal again, the roof will be nice
I think you did an excellent job! I always enjoy your quirky videos. I guess maybe that's because I'm quirky, too.!!!!
Awesome tank cover thingy. Sorry you caught covid. You're a better man than I. I slept for two days, and hurt the whole time. It's good you're not 75. I'm anxious for the next project.

I love your seat-of-the-pants style.
Thanks for another great video! Yay! I saw my name!! Praying for you!
Great Channel - a cross between Bob Newhart and Red Green - you da man!
Yo-yo, thanks man.! Going to do that for awnings over my windows. Have a good day
Hope you feel better Brother!!! I got that junk and ended up in the hospital for 18 days.

Yes to the starter strip for the architectural shingles.

Yes build a shelf under there. Great job 👍
JB Weld will definitely work....it's one of the best products out there.....

Routing and caulking made a big difference in the look, turned out great!
Excellent attention to details, great job!

Blessings Ryan, from this old man in northeast Tennessee. Great job. I hope your health improves quickly. Be safe.
You do need a starter strip on architecturals also. Covid will take some weeks to fully recover from. Take it easy. The roof looks great.
Ryan I love what you always figure out what you’re doing and turn out awesome ever time 👍👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🙏❤️💖🥰💕😎
Morning Rayen. Hi from the Netherland EU 🤗❤❤✌
Just found this one to follow. Nice job! I thought I was the only one who loved Ryobi!
Totally Dope! Isn't that what the young kids say? Love the little details
Glad you are recovering from the glorified cold. Now you have Natural immunity. 💪

Terrific job on that propane can shelter. As usual, you say “don’t try to learn anything from the worm”! Then you build something out like a boss!
So sorry you were sick! Wishing you a very speedy recovery and thank you again for another fun video💕

nice to live free and no boss telling you what 👍
You should build an icehouse.
Put all that saw dust to good use and you would have cold drinks all summer
Apparently yes, you are supposed to do a starter strip. Apparently people often use 3-tab shingles as that starter strip.
Missed this kind of video, a main objective but side randomness makes it way more entertaining. Glad you are on the mend from COVID 👍
Nice looking house I love your VIDEOS
Hello Ryan love watching you hope your feeling better 👍🇺🇸🙏❤️💖🥰💕☹️
I loved the 2 x 4 lite!!!😅😅😅
It was a neat build. God bless.
Get well ringworm master. Good job on the gas tank roof cover
That is a really handsome job you did there. Really Classy
Hell, I like it even more today! Really, Really Classy.
Underside of that roof will be perfect storage for wasp nests lol
Nice job Ryan!
Looks good. Watching from Roseburg Oregon
Looks great
Thank you for the videos
Feel better soon!
great build worm
somebody else made a comment on skirting around the cabin, i agree, using the bubble wrap foil on the inside and tarp or six mil plastic on the ground for moisture protection, enjoying your vidieos.
Great video. And I agree with the other comment , Skirting will make huge difference. Thanks again. Craig. Pa
Another awesome video. Sorry you got Covid. Must have been on one of your trips to town. Glad you are feeling better. Saw my name on the table..... awesome!!! Can't wait till next week. Thanks Ryan. ❤️❤️😎👍✌️
3 years in and you caught the Rona. Mate its not even a thing anymore.
I'd ever there was a reason to pack up and live in the woods, this is it.
So awesome worm man dude… love it.

Maybe add a tarp curtain to this weeks build. I still think snow will cover those tanks. You know - wind.
I stumbled upon your channel a couple years ago and now have never missed an episode! I REALLY like this propane set up and plan to replicate at my cabin in Vermont! Great idea!
Did a great job 👍👏
I like it.
It is about time you get an area rug for the cabin. It will insulate the floor near the bed and the sofa recliner.
Very Nice work Bryan, woke up this morning to watch this video and now im heading up to the cabin to work on my propane setup. Thanks for the idea and stay Strong and Enjoy.
Still need that 1 railing. Don't need another toboggan ride down those steps come winter. ❤

Good thought. Also people have to remember when calculating usage that the tanks are only filled to 80% to allow for expansion.
Rayn remember to take care of yourself be happy be safe
Looks awesome.

enjoy the content for the most part, but for some reason , your ever present PPE roofing helmet made me laugh today! thanks for the entertainment!
