    I live in Sweden in the forests of Värmland, but I am a German. When the Swedish and the Norwegians, the Vikings, lost their native religion they lost their sol and so there power and of course there liberty. You can even feel that today.

      Do you see any signs that this could someday be reversed?

      @@vikingsharia There are always signs of that. We have a lot of clubs which are teaching the history of Sweden and we have some good books about the Viking Time. There are peoples who live in original build houses of the Viking Time. Also people who like the old religion about Odin and his fellow gods. Most Swedish speak good English, but you can understand the old Viking culture at is best when you understand Swedish, Norwegian or Islandic. The letter is the real language of the Vikings. Have you read the book “Long Ships” or “Red Orm” (original Swedish: Röde Orm meaning Red Serpent or Red Snake) is an adventure novel by the Swedish writer Frans G. Bengtsson from 1943? But
      the Viking age was several hundreds of years and ma by about 2000 years later, after the old Germanic culture of the Swedish and Norwegian folks. It even started with the end of the stone age. There is an interesting video about this time: th-cam.com/video/rWhjm9emRJ0/w-d-xo.html

    What is the significance of the Hawk in the old stories? Any idea? I can't find anything on it.

    • @vikingsharia
      @vikingsharia  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      In the Prose Edda it says the hawk actually sits between the eyes of the eagle, and this professor of Old Norse and folklore John Lindow has an interesting theory for why that is... "presumably the hawk is associated with the wisdom of the eagle" and "perhaps, like Odin's ravens, it flies off acquiring and bringing back knowledge". en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ve%C3%B0rf%C3%B6lnir_and_eagle#Theories
