Wow -- I counted at least half a dozen of the small things like using picture frame hangers and the like that I can put in practice this weekend. So glad I randomly found your channel!
John Heisz Thanks John, I don't think there is a much better way of organizing your everyday shop tools! I think all shops big and small need a tool wall similar to this.
Matt, you did a fantastic job on your version of the John Heisz tool wall. In particular, I really like how you did the small profile wood block supports with the lip edges, and the pens & pencil holders. Both you and John Heisz are a great asset to the online woodworking community. Cheers from Canada.
Matt , I have watched way too many videos for tool storage BUT your video is the one I'm going with ! keep up the great videos and I'm a new subscriber.
Nothing beats an organized shop - and you've put yourself at the front of the class with that setup. Nice job! My Dad always said a clean shop is a slow shop, but a disorganized shop is one destined to run behind schedule. That wall will ensure no lost time looking for tools. And I admire your use of scrap to make it all happen. Thanks for the follow-up, I've been looking forward to this video! And thanks as well to John for putting this idea out there for all of us to take advantage of.. :-)
cuskit Thanks Mike, your right about the organization, plus it helps prevent the "now where did I put that?" I try and use scraps whenever possible :).
You're a good guy Matt. It definitely comes across in your videos. You are a hard worker. People like that. Your channel is going to do well. Already subscribed!
When my friend and I decided to build a small boat in my basement I decided to make a shadow board for my tools. Simple, just paint the plywood white , trace the tool and paint the "shadow" black. The shadow allowed us to find the missing tools and put them in place and also my friend did not have to figure out which tool went where without the shadow picture.
Really nice video. I like the combination of quick video cuts of the building process combined with your narrative cuts explaining your process. Just stumbled upon your channel from TH-cam recommendations and glad I did. Keep up the great work!
Nice organization. Looks like you use your drill press a lot. I just made a table for mine with a fence. Plenty of different ideas out there for it and I bet it would really come in handy for ya. Just a thought.
great job . i personally hang tools that i rarely use just for the shake of view . you know sometimes you need to see something to know that it might help you better.
Dear John rocked quite like this wonderful work and I wish to ask some questions to be able to take advantage of the experience and I wish you more success Be awesome
Very cool matt! Turned out awsome! That sucks about ur bandsaw:/ hate when tools take the day off..lol and inhave those same screwdrivers too..lol i really like this idea wish inhad the wall space.maybe a mini version ill do someday. I thought for sure u were gonna put ur tape where u put the knife..good idea though with the cookie cutters. I wont tell..lol have a good one matt! Thanks for sharing this!
Richard Wisner They are attached to the slats which are movable. It comes in handy as I had to shuffle things around a couple of times while loading up the board.
Nice work. Gives me a lot of good ideas. Thanks! -- Sidenote/question ... is it me or possibly just the video, or are you spinning those forstner bits at really high speed in the drill press?
PARABÉNS meu amigo, ficou excelente, aqui estou também fazendo uma organização na minha ferramentas, todas sem exceção, eu as uso como Hobyy…, alivia o estresse 😃 Abraço aqui do Brasil 🇧🇷

Around 1:40 what kind of drill is that? Is it for metal or wood? I been looking for something like that, could you point me in a direction please:)?
+HolyCrapAA The drill itself is a craftsman and the bit is just a cheap counter sink bit from the home center.
tres bien faite bon courage
Excellent Matt! Nice use of shop wall space. I really need to build one of these for my workshop. By the way, what is the great music?

Are the tool holders attached to the board permanently or are they movable. Sorry if you said and I missed it.

+Theball Player
I was going too fast at one point because I forgot to adjust the speed, but the video is also sped up quite a bit!

+Alessandro Mura 3/8" plywood
Good job! Nice music! Greetings from Ukraine!
Oh yeah, it sounds like if Interpol had written the second disc of the Nine Inch Nails' "...And All That Could Have Been". I dig it.
PARABÉNS meu amigo, ficou excelente, aqui estou também fazendo uma organização na minha ferramentas, todas sem exceção, eu as uso como Hobyy…, alivia o estresse 😃

Look great, It's so much easier to get stuff done in a organized shop... What happened to your Bandsaw?
Tomy Hovington The belt started coming apart on it, not sure if the belt is just old or if the pulleys have become misaligned.
