    I purchased the Knox Urbane Pro Mk3 in July 2023. I’m a weekend warrior and I’ve put less than 40 hours of use on my jacket when the cuffs began to fray. I wrote the company directly as well as sending photos, to which they responded , that the frayed cuffs were a result of repeated abrasion from gloves, or likely wear from the Velcro closure on gloves. They said that they would not replace the jacket or refund my money. I was disappointed to say the least, particularly when “abrasion resistance“ is the company’s advertisement lead. Clearly, the material used at the cuffs is flimsy at best, and inconsistent with the durability of the rest of the jacket. I pride myself on taking meticulous care of my equipment, and for the company to suggest that the use of gloves on a motorcycle jacket caused this premature wear and damage is ridiculous and indefensible. These companies have a captive audience as well as regulatory capture to inflate their prices, and to advertise an abrasion resistant armored shirt that is now literally falling apart at the seams after less than 40 hours of use is shameful.

      I have the exact same problem, but I’ve been scouring the internet and haven’t found others with the same problem till now. It’s honestly a joke that a heavy duty motorcycle jacket gets broken from light friction when it’s supposed to tolerate sliding on asphalt at extreme speeds. My country has quite strict consumer protection laws so I’m hoping I can get a replacement jacket or a repair. What did you do about it in your case?

      @@joarsund3855 After several emails, they finally offered to repair it, but I’m responsible for paying to ship it to the UK, which I won’t do. I’m writing a letter to the CEO instead. I don’t expect to hear back. It should be noted that I bought it directly from the manufacturer. Had I bought it from Revzilla or other distributor, I think they would have honored a return.

      @@Jetblackt120 alright thanks for the info. Mine isn’t only frayed around the edges but the cuff itself has also broken at the seam, Is yours too? I’m also wondering what I’m going to do if I get a new one. I don’t want to destroy it in the same way. Maybe gloves without Velcro

    The Achilles heel of this product is that afterthought of a chest protector. It’s extremely bulky, a little inconvenient to fit and doesn’t stay in place when the jacket is unzipped. I absolutely loved everything else about the Mk2 product, including the class leading back protector coverage, but to not have a split chest protector permanently able to be fitted in pockets is a huge oversight so I reluctantly sold mine. I just purchased a similar product which has split chest pockets and my mesh jacket also has these. I can’t overstate how bulky it is which is probably why it’s not installed for the video.

      Bowtex Elite Armored Shirt. It’s AAA Rated, dyneema construction and low profile level 2 elbow and shoulder with split chest pockets. It’s already lower profile than this shirt but I put L2 d3o Ghost armour everywhere and I hardly know I’m wearing it. It’s a much better product IMHO, with the exception of the back protector coverage which is greater with the Knox shirt.

    • @shauns5278
      @shauns5278 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@johnm6683 Looks like a very nice product but there are two more downsides you didn't list not only is the back protector shorter but it's sold separately so have you to hope both are in stock which has been an issue before, also makes it slightly more expensive which the Knox already is, next is it's only available in black which even being full mesh in hot sunny weather you WILL be sweating and having it stick to you.
      I love my gray Urbane but that Bowtex definitely looks like a great alternative, if only it came in white or gray may have been a future purchase for me.

    I’m still rocking the MK1 jacket and absolutely love it. I call it my “anti-squid” jacket because every time I leave the house for a fun ride out on a hot day, I might initially plan to head out without a jacket to get that ultimate feeling of “freedom”, but then this jacket just hangs there staring at me and I think, there is literally no reason NOT to throw this on and still get the same airflow. You do feel restricted versus just wearing a T so I will on rare occasion still head out without the Knox jacket, but I’d say since picking this item up, my percentage of trips out to the seafood market has dropped from about 30% to 5%. Clearly, we as riders know how liberating riding without all the gear on can feel, but this jacket at least, removes the “oh, but it’s so hot” excuse from the equation 😁

    Needs sliders on the slidy bits like elbows. Knox does it on its gloves. A zip to attach it to the matching trousers. A more comfortable fit around the neck. The trousers do not flow air as good as they could. Would I buy again. Yes definitely.

    Hello! I am an oddly proportionated bloke - - in cms. 177 height, 118 chest, 97 waist, 190 "wing-span" and 82 kg -- so I was wandering which size to order. I ended up ordering the XXL for the Knox Urbane Pro mk3 (online from the Netherlands, I am in Portugal so, since Brexit, I could not buy from you, sorry!) which arrived yesterday. I was worried that it could be a bit big but it fits me fine, just a tad loose on the waist, but not too long on the waist and perfect on the chest, shoulders and my long arms. First impressions: very good jacket, a bit warmer than expect when standing still but considerably more vented than my Merlin Shenstone which is also vented; quite comfortable; and it fits really fine underneath other non-armoured jackets. First annoyance: the internal mobile pocket is too high up and is too narrow and that makes it a pain to insert and remove the phone, especially due to the grippy case on the mobile. I believe it has potential to become my most used jacket. Thank you for your review.

    I really like the knox Urbane range ,however i haven't had much luck with the mk2 utility jacket which fell apart after, poor production quality. Gave up after the second one. The Urbane Pro trousers really don't flow enough air to be considered as a summer mesh pant.

    Looks like the still didn't address the collar being harsh on your skin. I've sent the MkII back because it marked my neck with the mesh wrapped around the collar. And my neck is far from being thick. The only way to work around this is wearing a t-shirt with a high-ish collar.

    2.45 - 'stays where it is' - I can tell you from experience, that this is rubbish. Don't wear this and assume all will be well in a crash, particularly even the smallest slide as happened to me. I've said it before, but until Knox add some thin sliders to the arm and shoulder specifically, just make sure what is said here is taken with a large pinch of salt. These armour section will just rotate out of their places. Brilliant idea, no doubt excellent quality, let down by its functionality in an even minor off.
