- Whether it’s for evening gown, swimsuit, or onstage question, the first law of pageant makeup is "more is more." Under hot stage lights, heavier makeup is a must. All the Miss America contestants had to do their own makeup which meant I had to learn quickly. Over the years I've learned that there are multiple ways to do things and different techniques that work for different people.
You just have to experiment and practice to see what works for you, your face, your budget, and your abilities. Like any skill, getting good at doing your makeup is something you have to develop with time and consistency.
You don't need to buy a ton of new makeup, BTW. It seems like makeup companies are always trying to sell us a new eyeshadow palette amirite? When it comes to doing your own makeup for a pageant, you just need to know how to work with what you've got. For instance, layering your foundation twice (letting it dry in between), wearing double sets of eyelashes, and using generous amounts of lipliner are all things that will give you more oomph.
I’m doing my first pageant this week so your videos have been super helpful!
Thanks for letting me know you find the vids helpful 🥰
Thank you for being so genuine. I am 53 and will be doing my first local Mrs. Vietnamese pageant. Will be my first time trying smokey eyes look.
I have a pageant in 3 months and all your videos are really helping me. Thank you❤️
Good luck Ananya! The 3 month mark is the perfect time to be taking control of your prep. Good for you on finding online resources to help you on your journey 👍🏼👍🏼
This is so helpful!!! I noticed that most tutorials were by Caucasian queens and as an East Asian person I could never figure out how to enhance my eye shape! :) Thank you so much for this tutorial!
Ya I feel you! I remember back in 2013 when I was trying to figure all this out and I googled around and there were no pageant tutorials done by asian people so I just sort of hacked it from tutorials I watched done by a Hispanic titleholder. The biggest thing I’d say for us is to really blend that Smokey eye while also not being afraid to deepen the color on the outer corners. I also forgot to mention that after you do your makeup, take a picture with flash and make sure it’s heavy enough that you can still see your features. More is more! Just make sure to blend everything well (esp eyeshadow and blush/contour) and it will look good!
@@CrystalClues nice❤❤
Thank you for tht tips. My daughter competed in her first pageant last weekend, and a family member did her makeup. I will be doing it most times and need the tips so I can practice, practice, practice.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! My daughter is in her first pageant and I'm doing her hair and makeup....THANK YOU FOR THESE VIDEOS!!!!
This was an amazing tutorial! The look turned out great!
Just wow! I'm not Asian but my eyes are similar to yours in shape and position (minus the epicantal fold), so your tutorial helps me very much. Btw, I'm not a pageant competitor either, but I know how to adapt this into an everyday make up. New suscriber today!
Thank you thank you for these tutorials!! It can be overwhelming to get the info needed, but these vids are so concise.
Binge watching your videos. Learning so much along the way. Thank you 😊

Haha thank you Julunda - appreciate you so much!
I somehow learnt more about doing makeup from this video than from professional make-up artists :D And it's so nice to see someone do the same thing I do, like with the pencil eyeliner on the lashline :D Also- you're GORGEOUS ❤️

Nice and informative! I like Maybelline superstay, which is 24 hr liquid lipcolor. It really lasts all day without smearing and it's pretty cheap at Target. Please do a tutorial focusing on eye lashes and what works best. Thank you!
Please tell me what brand do you use for liquid liner.
Hello! I really enjoy your videos, there so helpful! But I have a question about the makeup, can I use shimmer or glittery eyeshadow? Can I match the color of the dress to the makeup (eyeshadow part) should I hire a makeup artist? (I’m a expert on makeup) but I’m competing for Miss NY
This was a Great tutorial! I loved how this made your eyes pop! I’d like to know what kind of eyeshadow shape/ colors match my eyes and skin.
I like using neutrals; taupes, browns, olives, and accenting with muted blushes and golds. They tend to be more universally flattering and are more on-trend these days (ie versus the brighter blues and pinks of the 80s.)
Don’t be afraid to experiment, take photos, review them, and adjust from there!
Your videos are very helpful 😘
Aw thanks Saksi! What a beautiful name you have
I have been enjoying your videos ma'am

Hey could you please post a video on basic dance steps For pageants😭 in miss World and femina miss india, dance is also taken into account I suppose 😢❤️your videos have helped me so much, I love you sister 💜
Please make a video on best poses for swimsuit, evening gown and cocktail dress photoshoots for pageants
hi Easal - thanks for this video topic request! That's a really good idea! Honestly, the best place to find poses is to skim through pageant dress designer online catalogs and see how the models are posing in studio photoshoots ;) for instance: www.sherrihill.com/collections/fall-2020/
Is pageant and actors make up different maam? WHich channels shud I follow to knw more abt makeups?

Do we need a pageant makeup artist or we can do it by ourself for finale
I’m doing my first pageant in like a monthish and I honestly don’t have most of these products 😭😭
U are looking more more beautiful without makeup 😘
Aw I just adore you! You are so very kind
In the miniature without makeup, I find you look like Meghan Markle
💋💋💋💋💋. For you. Love you.
Do NOT put hair glue on your lashes please 😩
Sorry my perverted ass watched this but I want to acknowledge and commend all women who spend so much time doing this to look nice and professional. It's a significant time sink and requires effort whereas guys like myself wake up, splash some water on the face, wipe it with hand and arms and are good to go.
I’m not going to be mean but you put to much for foundation
