    I’m a contestant and a pageant judge and let me tell you something. I was more nervous judging than I was competing LOL. She’s really not lying about this!!!

    Hello! I've been binge-watching your videos and am so excited for my NAM pageant. Have you ever judged a NAM pageant?

      Hi! I’ve never judged a NAM pageant. I do have close friends who have. I have judged the American Pageants nationals though.
      Good luck at NAM, Lauren! It’s a great system!

    This is a great perspective to take haha I think if I were to be a judge I would be afraid of scoring badly especially during finals.

      Thank you for watching Ciatty! One day you may find yourself judging and realizing it’s def a lot harder than it looks. It’s just different from how it is competing but still not that easy ha

    Crystal! I loved this video! Question for you! If you have single judge interview with a few judges each a few minutes. What do you do if you they ask the same question? Answer it the same or give variety?

    • @CrystalClues
      @CrystalClues  4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Good question Jordan! I’d say generally the responses should be consistent, esp for questions that are more narrow and specific (ie what are your career goals?, or what is your hometown like?)
      But in some cases if you’re asked a question that is really open-ended (ie Tell me about yourself?, or Why are you competing?) you have some flexibility with which “angle” you respond with due to the variations of slightly different answers all being true, and not having a ton of time to lay everything out...leading you to pick, for example, one anecdote to share, per judge. (Even if you have two anecdotes come to mind.)
      A great way to practice this is when you’re doing mock interviews, have your mock judges slide in repeat questions to see how you respond to the same prompt multiple times. You don’t want to sound too rehearsed or canned but you also want to practice bringing the same level of enthusiasm and energy to each answer (as if you have been asked for the first time.) Over time you’ll become very comfortable with sharing your story and you might find that a few “bullet points” of possible answers will appear in your mind spontaneously. The judges’ questions will be but invitations for some of those bullets to naturally flow out and be shared in the interview.
      Judges asking you the same questions in a 1:1 setting is actually quite common because many judges aren’t necessarily looking for the content of what you say, it’s the ease, warm, and confidence by which you say it. The question is only but a vehicle to lure out these qualities that they’re seeking in the winner.
      Great interviews have a rhythm and flow that continues through predictable questions like “Why should we crown you?” all the way to “What’s your spirit animal?”

    Hi, I wanted to ask if Judges look at social media accounts? Does having a private account impact your score? Thank you so much and I appreciate your video. 🥰🙏🏼

    Judges from different backgrounds really confuses me, what can a musician bring to the table regarding a beauty pageant ? or a model judging a singing competition.? Why is that ?

    Can we compliment judges before our answers and after the question?

    • @CrystalClues
      @CrystalClues  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'd recommend you avoiding compliments that are not sincere. Usually saying, "Thank you for that question" not only takes up more of your time, but some may see it as pandering or even an attempt at buying yourself some time to think of the answer. However, if you're genuinely impacted by the question and think it's really good, then an authentic reaction is fine. But it has to be real - not contrived or pre-prepared.
