I met Jess a few years ago at Phoenix ComiCon and he is absolutely 100% one of the nicest guys I have ever met!!
He did a song in a movie called Comic Book The Movie and he sang the chorus with me at the Con. (I will take that memory forever!)

4:25 - Correction: We had just begun to have the internet when _Animaniacs_ was originally on, and we _did_ already have Global Warming for decades; it just wasn't getting much press.
Not trolling; just a nerdy GenXer...who actually LOVES Jess Harnell. In fact, when my wife and I were first dating, we often got together to watch _Animaniacs._ Beyond that, as a musician, Rock Sugar makes me so happy because I love "Left Field" mash-ups! Side Note: I could never do a decent Christopher Walken impression in the past; I had the mannerisms and cadence, but something was off. Then, in _I Know That Voice,_ Jess talked about the musicality and pitch center of individual voices, and he _immediately_ fixed my Walken!
As for the lawsuit, I thought for sure that Steve Perry was the problem, but if the worry was "sampling" then now I'm thinking it was James Hetfield...which kind of makes sense, when I think about Metallica's approach to _any_ commercial use of their material by other artists. It's crap that Jess lost the lawsuit, _but_ it speaks volumes about his impression!

I would not be surprised if Steve Perry was the one suing. He has the personality of a dishrag and every time I see him interviewed he seems angry and unhappy. He should appreciate the opportunities he had in life and reflect positively on them. Hell, he is a millionaire many times over.

Just to clear up lawsuit : "The Singer" believed he was being sampled without permission - copyright issue. "The Court" opinion that consumers would think the music was "The Singer" not Jess Harnell imitating "The Singer". Since "misleading to the public" in this instance could be Trademark issue. (I am not a lawyer but music industry is very creative at stopping covers and mashups retail wise.)
