These work great, I use them all the time at our shop, don’t let the big dealers or shops say you need to change every 2 years, just test it with this pen first or brake fluid test strips.
my mechanic did a brake flush on my 2005 chevy express 3500 (motorhome) at 22,000 miles. Now says a year and 11,000 more miles says there are contaminants in it and wants to do another. Does that sound right?

Many brake manufacturers recommend against conductivity-type electronic testers as they may give false readings. The better, and much more expensive, testers actually heats the fluid and determine the moisture content based off of the boiling-point.

The brake fluid still looked quite nasty after you pumped a few times. Shouldn't you pump until the fresh fluid is coming out before you tighten the bleeder again?
There was nothing wrong with the fluid. If the fluid is old & discolored, you'll be able to see the new fluid show up at the bleeder valve very easily.

Great tutoring video. I am going to purchase Brake fluid check valve. My concern is how to choose the correct one. Is the Bleeder screw valve has the same diameter for all vehicles? I know, that different tool size is used to unscrew the bleeder valve .
If enough moisture is absorbed by the brake fluid, it can accumulate in the lower portion of the reservoir. Only test to the depth in the directions. Thanks for watching!
@@electronicsNmore Thank you for the answer, I really don't know. If I only touch the fluid only with the tip of the sensors it is 1%. If i immerse it halfway it is 2%, if i fully immerse the electrodes and maybe touch the fluid with the plastic part of the tester then it shows 3%. I'll try it with a resistance meter tomorrow.
I'm experiencing the same issue. I'm not sure how much I can trust this unit. I would not buy it again. For myself, I will just stick with replacing the brake the fluid every 2 years or as recommended by the vehicles manufacturer.

Tuna Fish Less than 5M ohm. I only showed you what a good reading looks like with a DMM using new brake fluid. Good fluid is usually above 5 M, old is below.
Some cars have a hydraulic clutch reservoir. Care read manual since some use oil some use brake fluid.If you by mistake put in wrong fluid you will need a new clutch master and actuator . I made that mistake on a eurotrash car.שלום
Hi Andre. Those check valves may be damaged by the brake fluid. The aluminum type shown in the video has a spring and steel ball pushing against a seat.

Hello. When I made the video, I had the brake fluid sitting on the counter a while while I was filming. I live in south Florida where it's very humid, so it may have soaked up a little moisture. Ideally only the green LED should be on. Thanks for watching!
Brake fluid is generally clear when you buy it. After a few years it starts to look dirty. That is the way it is designed to work. If it doesn't look dirty don't worry.
Ok just looking at these types of testers and wondered about how accurate they can actually be. For example: they work purely on the resistance tested across the terminals. However this resistance is weaker in normal moisture ie rain water and so on due to contaminants in the water, but what if you accidently some how managed to get distilled water in the brake fluid, the tester wouldn't pick this up, due to the fact that distilled water is non conductive. So the tester would probably read that the brake fluid was good when in fact was bad. Has this been tested, for sure it's unlikely to happen but it is potentially a test that could confuse the testing device. However a tester with an actual meter as in the multi meter you would get an indication that something was a miss. It's just a thought.

Only thing I will say is unless precautions are taken, air can be drawn in around the threads of the bleeders. Otherwise great video!

Yes, the vacuum bleeding tool is the best way to ensure that all air bubbles have been removed from the ABS pump/valves.

I tried the same model. The deeper I put it into the fluid the higher water content it shows.

I tried this but found my bleed nipple won't open. It looks rusty and I don't want to damage it.
Apply penetrating oil and wait. Then use FLAT jaw vise grips to remove the bleeder bolt. Replace the bleeder bolt with a new one.
electronicsNmore I've tried penetrating oil and heat and everything else. It's a 13 year old car so might need new caliper.
i just put my pen in went straight red 😨the warning light literally has only just popped up. My bmw health check said it was ok...not impressed
