Well if its an automatic running a good torque convertor the convertor will also give you engine braking through the transmission...I've towed 8k lbs of top soil with my 1/2 ton Ramcharger and let go of the gas and you can feel the engine braking on the down hill in drive not to mention that modern 8 and up speed transmissons can be made to select the gear manually... The advantage of a completely manual transmisson is more the shear strength over a automatic... But that can be said about the OG Cat engines as well simplcity is always better in the long run... Where there is compression there's engine braking!
@@moparnut6286 automatic been in trucks for years. These new automatics are far more superior as technology has advanced. Friend has them in his gravel and cement trucks. Says they way better and not replacing clutches all time
