Hey Sam , great video! If I may give you some advice from a northerner in the cold who buys trucks from other sates . I will bring trucks home and the first thing I do is install a block heater if they do not have one . That lets you plug it in for those really cold days . Those real cold starts are not the best for the engine. I also drain the air tanks daily in the winter. Some times I take the air line off at the compressor and pour air line alcohol in the line , then put the line back on and start the truck . That helps un stick those frozen shifter valves that have frozen moisture in them. I also pour alcohol In the trailer glad hands . Helps To unfreeze the brake valve on the trailer that sometimes stick .I changed from using rubber in the glad hands to the blue and red neoprene inserts. They don’t rip or wear out as fast and have a much better seal . Congratulations on the truck. It looks like a really clean ride. 👌 I like your lettering guy’s words of wisdom!
Thanks Steve that is great info. I need to look for a block heater to see if it has one. My Ram does and I use it fairly often when really cold. I do need to add the alcohol and neoprene instead of the rubber. Thanks and stay warm! I agree that was some great wisdom from Johnny! 😀

One of my favorite scriptures. I remember one of the messages on this, clear back to 1976. My bother graduated from Boot Camp in the US Marines. That Sunday, the Chaplin preached this account. 48 years ago and I still hear and remember his words. Great video and GREAT message. Lee
Thanks Clint! Yup you saw a couple.😀 The red one is a 1990 Lariat 4x4 and the white one is a 1997 F350 4x4 which had a flatbed and I put the dump bed on it. I love the square body Fords! The 95 model y’all converted to 4x4 and put the Cummins in was a sweet build…
I had to dump two buckets of gravel on a sink hole in the driveway today. It's winter ya'll. I'm the only dude on the shared road that owns a tractor. My neighbors are supportive. Thank doG.
Awesome video- don’t beat yourself up too much over the damage to your 313- I bought a new excavator and was on hauling it to its first job an didn’t get the side access door latched all the way and the wind caught it and when I looked back it was destroyed- 1200 $ before I put a bucket in the ground an yes I found myself wondering if I picked the right business
Nice truck love your channel bendix air governor only way to go . Also air dryer filter or cartridge needs replacing once a year . Good message Brother
Hi Brother, take the damaged door off when you get time and take it to a autobody shop and get them to fix it. I bet it will be a lot cheaper than $800 that is just crazy. You can even buy fiberglass kits. On the bright side! You can take it off your taxes.... lol. Great videos. God Bless!
Thanks Brian and that is good info. I had a guy see the video that lives close by and he said he believes he can fix it. I hope so, I definitely don’t like the way it looks… God Bless, Sam

That’s cool, didn’t know you were in Australia. The channel is starting to get a few viewers from Australia. Glad y’all don’t have to deal with the cold. It’s hard sometimes for sure. Thanks, Sam
@tristardiggin yeah I grew up in Sydney on some land (childhood) currently working in new zealand till the end of this year. Bought a few acres in queensland and will be moving there to hopefully start out a small business with a skid steer and hope to build up to where you're at now
Thank you for showing your mistakes and troubles. People think when you're a Christian you don't have any troubles. If they read their Bible and how the disciples suffered they would know. God Bless and really enjoyed the message. I needed it as always.
Hey Sam the lettering on the Mack is looking sharp, I hope you all are about done with that cold weather, I know I’m ready for spring The message was great Sam keep up the good work.
Tom, I hope we are done with the bitter cold. I’m with you, ready for spring. Ole Johnny did a great job on the stickers. Glad you enjoyed the message… God Bless
Well said! The daily struggle is certainly real.😳 But we just power through to the next day… Thanks, I appreciate you watching and supporting the channel.
It certainly takes a bit of time with a new piece of equipment before you trust it and know it. And even worse when it’s used. I bought a used f450 (2004) this fall and have some bugs that I am working through. The Mack is in some good shape for the year looking forward to seeing it in action. God bless
Yeah that is right! It takes a little while to get comfortable with a new piece of equipment. I’m very pleased with the condition of the Mack. I believe it will be a good one… God Bless
I need to go back and see what that new camera is. I need something besides my phone to get good video. Let me know how you like it. Having a business and equipment is always eventful. If it’s not, your not doing anything 🤷♂️. Keep up the good work and keep spreading the “ good news”, Sam 👍🏼
You were dealing with your trail brakes and I had the same problem with mine today. Have one locked up and had to work on it to get it freed up. Like you said it’s just part of business the more you got the more you gotta work on.
I'm excited to see how your new camera works out. You'll have to give us an update once you've used it a while. Those things are a little on the pricey side for me, but if you find it to be worth it, I might get one.
Hey Zach, I’m anxious to use it on some videos. Had a tough time figuring out how to get the videos onto my IPad but I have that figured out now. I really like the way it tracks movement. Thanks
Yes it will track anything you lock onto in the screen. It also has face recognition when it’s in selfie mode, camera pointed at the user, and it will follow the person around. Very cool camera for sure… Thanks
Hey Sam when it comes to cool weather never let your go to far below far and when the temp drops like like it did it will get damp and freeze everything gets stiff I am from Chicago and it gets below zero just let everything warm up god bless you I hope the rest of the day goes better.
Loved this video Sam! I think i need to go back into the Old Testament and re-read the book of JOB --- I need to see if he had a TWIN BROTHER named "SAM" (you certainly have more patience than most of us out here!)
Just a helpful suggestion. You could bring in few loads of rock when able to and make you a parking pad and turn around spot. where you backed the trailer up by your haul truck. Then both trailers would be out of the way. Then when you hooked up to either one of them and you could pull either of them out without one being in the way and having to move the other trailer so you could turn around. You also wouldn’t have to worry about getting stuck or losing traction and spinning your wheels when backing in and pulling out and hauling your equipment in and out.
Hey thanks Adam that would work great. I do plan to make some more space. I’m going to move that fence line across from the shop area and make a big parking area on the pasture side of the road. Should be able to get most everything over there and out of the way…
Great video great message Sam also during cold snaps might want to consider shoveling tracks and add a touch of alcohol to your air system on your truck doesn't hurt anything just little bit of preventative maintenance goes a long way as I'm sure you know also on the fiberglass panels might consider making yourself a forestry package for doors painted up all black and all make them so you can unpin them when checking fluids but also keeps the latches from opening yeah it's going cost a few bucks to fabricate it cracked this time what if your digging brush and she opens and rips off 800 bucks isn't going to scratch the next bill anyway keep doing what you do and maybe take some of us old fellows of the business and apply to your life or just throw them All away make lots of money and learn for yourself best lesson I ever learned from trucking or excavation Don't tell wife everything better to ask for forgiveness than to ask for permission God Bless you Brother
Hey Brian, good info and I definitely need to add some alcohol to the system for sure. Body panels would be nice too. Thanks and glad you enjoyed the video. I appreciate you supporting the channel…
Thanks for the message, good to know you can always turn around and go home, looked like a normal ice cold day in the video, thanks again for the message and video
Yup, a normal single digit cold overnight 🥶❄️. It’s too cold I’m going to follow the geese south for winter!😀 Definitely nice to turn and go home… Thanks
Enjoyed the video and learned from the message. What a great combination! Hope all is well Sam, we have been getting a break from the cold weather here the last couple of days.
How easy it would have been for you to leave God for a instant this morning as things seemed to fall apart - you remained fairly (lol) calm and stayed the course - worked through each problem and finished the day with bible in hand. God Bless!!
The fellow before you put straight highway tires on that Mack, didn't he? Thanks for looking into the headphones, I'm the guy who told you about that and I did say that from the perspective of a interstate drive not intrastate in Tennessee. I would say one other thing to you Sam.. Should you have an accident, and the lawyer suing you claims that the accident would have been prevented if only you had been able to hear the horn honking, the siren or the people screaming at you, I am betting the jury will swing his way. Several States will write the ticket as "distracted driving". Good video and the decals sure look nice.
Bob that is right, it has street tires. When they wear out I will get some different ones. It was interesting to see how some states prohibit head phones and Tennessee doesn’t. Actually there are a lot more states that don’t allow it than those that do. And no doubt, they will find something to sue a feller for… Thanks, Sam
Here in Texas we just had the cold spell y’all are having now and def not use to it. Everyone here dsl is gelling up and nothing will run lol part stores are all out of treatment lol idk how cold states do it . Enjoyed the message and video brother. I’d like to hear your “how you got started story” one day unless you tell it in an old video?
Hey Cody glad you enjoyed the message and I appreciate you supporting the channel. I’m with you on the cold, I don’t like it all. Not sure how the reality cold states do it. 🥶❄️ I did a podcast with Dirt Perfect and Jason Works A lot a few weeks ago. We talked a good bit about how I got started and where things are now. That podcast is on a channel called “A Few Points From Perfect”. Below is a link to it. th-cam.com/video/DouC4t7vsys/w-d-xo.htmlsi=YvEkxhxTSjDho3zU Thanks, Sam
Little advice do with it as you please lol loading trackhoe on trailer make sure you on leave ground!! I’ve seen a trackhoe slide off ramps on trailer because parked on un level ground so gotta watch it steel on steel slide
Hey Gerald you aren’t kidding about that. I have had some close calls in the past for sure. I try to get as level as I can, especially side to side. Thanks
Bible for today was very well put also seen your podcast with BP I love the way you answered the very last question and how fast you got an amen from the guy beside the only part that upset me was the body language I noticed off of officer Huber and DP kind of makes me sad the way they reacted
Thanks, I appreciate that! Glad I got an opportunity to share that in the podcast. Hoover was the one who said Amen. Great opportunity to sew some seed…😀 God Bless
A lot of those Macks with that Mack transmission have a pressure valve on the transmission. The reverse selector and the range selector need 90 to 100 psi to activate the range and reverse function.
P.s. don’t be afraid to moisten or spit on or spray som we-40 on that glad hand rubber grommet it helps seal as well as your grease to help seal it up to help keep them from leaking 🍺😎
Hello Sam. Always look forward to your messages every Friday. It has been cold here in Savannah this week also. It was nothing like you had in Tennessee. But we ended the week in the 70's. It is still wet every where but we had a good week. Sorry about your day the other day. But like you said it happens. You just have to put your faith in God and hold your head up keep going. I also talk to the God more during those times. I always say God if you want to talk just tell me in another way they that through equipment problems and repairs. Then I just laugh and say God you are my lord and savor. you can talk to me any way you want to and at any time. Have a good weekend my friend. Also enjoyed the video and see Diesal happy with his Dad in the new truck.
Know problem, Sam. Hope you have had a good weekend. After church today. I went to help my cousin with some clearing and grading on a new farm he purchased. He said you don't have to bring any of your equipment. We will just use mine. He has an older JD 690 Excavator , JD 450 dozer, and a 1979 JD 310. I'm not sure of the year of the excavator or dozer. They have been used only on the farm and kept under shelters all there life. So for their age they are in good shape. It was really fun to run this equipment today. It made me think back when I was learning to run equiment. I was 11 the first time I learned the run 450 dozer. I lived on a rural island in Savannah that was developing quickly in mid 70's. A lot of clearing for roads to develop neighborhoods, then after the clearing the building of sewer and water lines would start. I would not get in the way, but if there was heavy moving, I was on my bicycle and watching equipment work. I got to know the men. After a while, they would let me ride with them on the equipment. So, one day, I went down to see this man named Mr. Tommy. He installed the sewer, water, and storm. He normally had 4 guys working with him. But he was by himself. He was laying 16" storm pipe by himself with a JD 690 Excavator, but back then, it was called a high hoe. He also had a JD 450 straight blade dozer and JD 510 backhoe. He said hello, Jamie. He said you want a job. I said sir? He said no one showed up today, and I need help. I was like, yes, SIR! He said good, get on the 450, and start backfilling that pipe. I was like, sir. He said you have been riding with me for a long time and you know what to do. Yes, sir. Jumped on that machine and did a great job. But I had been riding and watching him operate that dozer for a long time. I went home and told my Mom what I did . She said, "What did you do? Then my Dad got home and she told him. He I'm not surprised. He loves equipment. So they both went down and talked to Mr. Tommy and he said. Watch this. So I got on the dozer and started backfillng . My Dad was proud, and my Mom cried. They said ok. Be careful . Sorry for the long reply. But today was a great day that brought back a lot of good memories. It also made me think about how far equipment has come since then. Good and bad. Nothing had a cab back then except an excavator. But it did not have air. Now a piece of equipment without a cab with heat and air is almost special order. But anyway, have a great week, my friend.
Thanks Jamie. What a great story and memories to have. Sounds like those men really took an interest in you. That was pretty cool of him to help you get started like that! Thanks,Sam
2 Sunday ago we got our first ice day on way to church that morning my old truck overheated,I raised hood and after church put a gallon of water in it and started home and overheated again would have left but needed it to haul my wheelchair didn’t make about 3 miles left truck and wheelchair and had my brother n law pickup chair and Wrecker got truck, put motor in 2 years ago and new radiator last January,I didn’t put enough antifreeze in it thought was fixed and yesterday was going to town and heads cracked or block didn’t get lucky like you did but life goes on ,just set down and ask God for help and wisdom, and figure he would either let me find motor or another truck and I know he knows I love my old 88 Chevy,2 years ago it did the same and I guy I gave a vehicle to when he was having a hard time gave me this motor and another guy I had Help his Cowboy Church paid to have installed, see now not working and living on social security there is no access $$$$ ,but the Bible says be patience and that’s what I’m going to do,I would like you to pray that God will provide a way ,God hears the prayers of a righteous man and I believe you are ,love your videos and put more rock around your shop so not so slick but I also know it’s expensive, lve been putting recycled asphalt when can around my place ,receive God’s blessings and be careful
@@tristardigginI prayed and thanks for your but this morning I wore my ford ranger to church and used my walker, legs so weak from being in chair for years but I made it ,and yea I’m 6’4 and the ranger is small for taking my mom to doctor but funny for me being in it,

Sam freezing weather does goofy things to cars and trucks Sandy's Terrain went into de-rate mode on a bad throttle body on the way to the doctor.....naturally...., cold weather strikes ....again...hey how about a block heater?🙃I use to always carry extra glad hand rubbers, cold weather blues.😋Dielectric grease works great in getting things to fit together, remember a little goes a long way.
When you hook up the glad hands, spit on them a little and they will connect easier. Same for when installing new seals. Out of all the different air connection designs, I never understood why that was decided to be the industry standard.
Those pads next to the pedals to rest your feet on. When traveling I’ll leave my heels on the pad and put my toes on the pedals to go forward and when tracking backwards I leave my toes on the pad and my heels on the pedals. I’ve also just put my toes on the rear of the pedals to go in reverse (forward but tracking in reverse) you can do but how you like. Just thought I’d toss my experience in there. My old boss would jump on ya if you used your hands. In the 305 the pedals were smaller and hard to track with. Too hard for me to track in reverse in sensitive tight areas so I would use my hands some and tell him to hush lol. My feet were too big for that on the 305.5
@@tristardiggin yeah my boss told us we had to be able to track and run the sticks at the same time. It’s good practice and works well on the larger pedal machines. But the little pedal machines I just can’t. How you like that big pedal on the right for just forward and backwards?
Great video. As a person trying to start making video's for my older years to reminisce. I struggle with editing. Could you do a video on editing? Up here in vermont I am also waiting for spring.
Right I bet it’s a bit cold in VT. I watch Hugh with VT Outdoor Services and he definitely has issues with the weather up there in VT. Editing takes a lot of practice and study on how to do it. I use KineMaster which is an app for android or iPhone. Pretty user friendly and a lot of TH-cam video tutorials on how to use it. Maybe one day I can do a video on the basics… Thanks, Sam

Those look like big fuel tanks for a dump truck. Seems like smaller tanks would leave more weight capacity for your load. (and hurt less to fill them up. LOL) Love finding an interesting channel like this. I like to start at the beginning and watch the growth. New equipment new different jobs. Do you plan to get another mulching head? Or is the 304 not big enough to make it really worth it?
They are definitely big tanks. But actually I don’t even haul the max weight the truck can legally haul. Just trying to not overwork it carrying max loads all the time. I don’t plan to get another mulcher. The 304 is too small for one. I’m not really looking to get one for the 313 either though. I didn’t care much for mulching after I did a few jobs with it. I guess I just prefer the dirt…😀 Thanks
Hey Justin, welcome to the channel and I appreciate you checking out the videos. Mike and Aaron have really helped out the channel talking about it and that’s pretty cool. Thanks again, Sam

One of my favorite scriptures. I remember one of the messages on this, clear back to 1976. My bother graduated from Boot Camp in the US Marines. That Sunday, the Chaplin preached this account. 48 years ago and I still hear and remember his words. Great video and GREAT message. Lee
Thanks Lee and it is great to remember good messages like that from years ago…

I spyed a couple Obs fords also
Thanks Clint!
Thank doG.
Yup, it’s winter and I’m ready for Spring already…

Awesome video- don’t beat yourself up too much over the damage to your 313- I bought a new excavator and was on hauling it to its first job an didn’t get the side access door latched all the way and the wind caught it and when I looked back it was destroyed- 1200 $ before I put a bucket in the ground an yes I found myself wondering if I picked the right business
Wow Gary! That is so disappointing when stuff like that happens. It sure can happen in a hurry too.
Thanks,
Nice truck love your channel bendix air governor only way to go . Also air dryer filter or cartridge needs replacing once a year . Good message Brother
Thanks Justus I need to get one of those governors…
Hi Brother, take the damaged door off when you get time and take it to a autobody shop and get them to fix it. I bet it will be a lot cheaper than $800 that is just crazy. You can even buy fiberglass kits. On the bright side! You can take it off your taxes.... lol. Great videos. God Bless!
Thanks Brian and that is good info. I had a guy see the video that lives close by and he said he believes he can fix it. I hope so, I definitely don’t like the way it looks…

It certainly takes a bit of time with a new piece of equipment before you trust it and know it. And even worse when it’s used. I bought a used f450 (2004) this fall and have some bugs that I am working through. The Mack is in some good shape for the year looking forward to seeing it in action. God bless

Thanks
@tristardiggin Thanks for the feedback Sam! Does it track different things, or just people? Will it track the skidsteer?
Yes it will track anything you lock onto in the screen. It also has face recognition when it’s in selfie mode, camera pointed at the user, and it will follow the person around. Very cool camera for sure…
Thanks
Had to take the Mr heater torch to the tracks a few times this January

That was a long video but worth it to get to a great message.
Yup, it got a little long and glad you enjoyed the message…

And no doubt, they will find something to sue a feller for…
Thanks,
Sam

Everyone here dsl is gelling up and nothing will run lol part stores are all out of treatment lol idk how cold states do it . Enjoyed the message and video brother. A lot of those Macks with that Mack transmission have a pressure valve on the transmission. The reverse selector and the range selector need 90 to 100 psi to activate the range and reverse function.

Thanks Jamie I appreciate that! I have similar conversations with the Lord as well! 😀 Well said…

@@JamieCoursey-f3t oooops, spelled your name wrong but I fixed it…🤣😂
Know problem, Sam.
Thanks,Sam

It's called an air governor. Don't mess with it just get a Bendix replacement. It's probably why your air is building slowly.
Thanks Steven, I appreciate that. Air governor is what I was trying to think of. 😀
@@tristardiggin you had a tough morning l understand why you couldn't think straight
Yup, whew!

My feet were too big for that on the 305.5
Right, just doesn’t feel comfortable to me pushing down on the pedals. I’ve seen some videos where the guy cut the sticks off and just used his feet…
@@tristardiggin yeah my boss told us we had to be able to track and run the sticks at the same time. It’s good practice and works well on the larger pedal machines. But the little pedal machines I just can’t. How you like that big pedal on the right for just forward and backwards?

Those look like big fuel tanks for a dump truck. Seems like smaller tanks would leave more weight capacity for your load. (and hurt less to fill them up. LOL)
Love finding an interesting channel like this.
I guess I just prefer the dirt…😀
