One thing that makes me happy about the replay-ability of the sequel is that they don’t require us to spend IP Points to get extra color palettes, we get it ALL from the start and look sweet doing it✊
Wow that's honestly sad that I'm glad they did something so easy and basic. We aren't buying games anymore, just hollow skeletons lacking content it already has.
Hope we get to see Justin play some Undernight matches. We know he's a monster in SF/KoF/Mahvel/GBFV. But we don't really see him play against people in BBCF/Undernight/Melty. Would be cool to see him tackle some online matches in other anime fighters.
Love to see the struggle actually. French bread combos have always just felt different to hit so seeing someone as good as Jwong have the same thoughts I do when I fail these combos gives me hope I can land em after enough practice. Now getting good at the game itself is a whole other mountain…
I would love to see you try Yuzuriha's mission trials. There you ll have to press/hold/release "D" mid combo and sometimes even piano one your buttons into "D" and release.
Fun fact, for a lot of those trials you don't even need to do that to do the combo, just tapping D at certain points is enough. The combo notation in the trials still tells you about all the pianoing and button holding because Yuzu had a damage penalty for holding her stance with D (or not holding any button at all), so to get optimal damage you had to really do that. That's no longer the case in UNI2, because they removed the damage penalty for D hold, so scrubs like me can do some of the combos on gamepad! That said some combos still require it because of some delays.
Phonon is great when I want a break from Waldstein and his big meaty claws or Mika with the Hulk hands. Kaguya looks nifty to play as from what I saw in other videos as well.
Aah yes seth the precision based execution character no one likes fighting a good one because he's both incredibly hard to play well and subsequently hard to play against a seth that plays well
@@chiyue5676 my brother in christ dash b as seth was something I mastered playing uniel more than a decade ago. I'm glad Justin himself had the same "wait what" moments doing Phonon trials. I did them and I suffered so much, I thought I was plain bad. But now I feel better 😅
I've been loving the combo trials in this game so far. I think the layout and content of the different levels make more sense for a novice player compared to the ones in UNICLR.
I started with Phonon in Uniclr, and am currently playing Enkidu as well. When I get Uni2 I'm just gonna play the both of them and man, I really hope they didnt change them too much lol
Tbh these hyper long combos arent necessarily needed to win games. You eventually learn them the more you play but its definitely feasible to stay on simple combos. I saw back in evo 2019 one of the competitors relied on autocombo and managed to get far
Nah bro combo trials are not reflective of how hard a game is to play. A lot of them are just that, trials. You can get going with just the basic stuff just fine
Nah, don't let it throw you off. First, they build nicely, and these harder ones have chunks that are the easier ones. You learn the smaller ones, and then these harder ones basically add a hit here and there to combine two you already know, then three, etc. Second, there's a lot of room for improvisation. Under the combo/hit counter there's a horizontal line. Every time you connect with an attack in a combo, that line goes up, and it's always going down automatically. Once the line is gone, your combo ends. Different moves add different amounts(light/fast moves usually add less, harder ones more). You don't have to memorize these crazy long combos, you can improv anything into anything almost, and as long as it connects before the line is gone, your combo continues.
I’m trying to learn Hilda right now, but it’s been frustrating so far not really knowing what I’m doing. I feel like I’m learning to walk again, and it’s led to me not even attempting online yet
@@friskydrinklunkybank1108that's not actually true for uni. Most of those combos are just shy from being optimal, it's really good place to take your bnbs from.
I agree, but shorter combos will definitely be serviceable for learners. IMO is one of the best things about combo scaling, is that new players can still deal decent damage while high level players can still get rewarded. So while the expert combos are certainly better, intermediate combos are more than enough to get started learning and improve on.
most bbcf combo only teach combo theory, there are usually A. more optimal route or B. far easier route that probably lose nothing. I won't deny there's a few optimal combo in the trials there tho.
Uni combos tend to be close to optimal. A lot of the new ones added in this game are ones that people were using in tournament in uniclr. Same thing with uniclr for unist
Been paying Blazblu CF and dang anime fighting games are just on another level of needed muscle memory to do anything. Even intermediate combos feel like they would be expert level combos in other games
How many tries for real for the expert levels? I thought of a cool idea with editing, put on screen how many tries when you hit success for the combo like a stamp like in Shangri la frontier when he had to face 10 bosses back to back
I really think the combos are harder to do than the first game. I cant do Orie's BnB combo consistently anymore, even though it's exactly the same input as in the first game, and I almost never missed it there.
Justin...I wanted to say you got me back into SF. I literally gave up after SF4 but watching you nephew and punk I got my competitive spirit back. Thank you
I really like this game - i played the other version when i got a ps5 on single player for many hours and had a great time, but for some reason I could never get the rhythm of the combos and corner combos - not just talking about these trials im talking globally fundamentally peeps be just bouncing people around in the corner for 45 seconds straight...? At least this game's trial tells you about delay, cancels and such. Others (looks at SF4) leave you figure things out.

As much as i love Blazblue it does the same thing sadly. The trials could definitely use some work.

I'm so happy to be reunited with my goat Merkava once more, glad to see Justin playing unib.
