As a kid, like 8 years old, I saw a video of this boss and thought "it looks cool, I want to see it" and I tried to get in some non-existent secret area of the Temple of Time to get to fight Armogohma. I was playing Ocarina of Time.
Boss Review: Twilit arachnid, Armogohma Location: Temple of Time Armogohma is the sixth boss in Twilight Princess. It resides in the deepest and darkest portion of the Temple of Time. It just doesn't mean Zelda without a giant spider most of the time. Design: Armogohma is a typical "giant spider in fantasy" in the form of a boss. It has Gohma (a boss commonly found in multiple Zelda games) but has Armo- in the front. Sticking with the dark theme of Twilight Princess, Armogohma has little to no color in its design save for its giant eye. Fight: Armogohma is found deep in the Temple in a very dark room with minimal light. There's even Dominion Rod statues. Link examines one when the light goes out. There's a giant spider on the ceiling! Link has to wait until Armogohma stops moving and opens its eye. There he has to shoot it with his Hero Bow. He can't take too long though as Armogohma will fire a fiery beam if left alone for too long. Once shot, it'll fall to the ground conveniently in front of a statue. With the use of the Dominion Rod, SLAM! A stony fist right onto the arachnid. It'll get back up though and crawl back on the ceiling and send Baby Gohmas to do away with you. Fight back with your sword or clear them out quicker with the Spinner. Shoot and slam once the babies are dead and repeat. Third time's the charm as the third slam will kill off the spider... NOT!! After Link sheaths the sword, it's shown that Armogohma is still alive as the eye. It tries to run way with babies protecting it. So many options to finish it: sword, arrows, bomb arrows, Ball and Chain, Spinner, you choose. It'll still die no matter what you do being reduced to a Heart Container and the second Mirror Shard. Conclusion: This is basically a scarier Gohma with an additional prefix. Still fun though. And more than just attacking the eye. It even punishes you if you're too slow. No other Gohma does that. The surprise at the end is adorable. Armogohma gets... *8.5/10*
They truly captured what makes a spider to unnerving to look at with this boss (one of the only 3 I enjoyed battling against in this game). A fun battle.
I think this honestly would have been a good first dungeon and boss because of how straightforward it all is. Being this late in the game, you kind of expect something more challenging, especially just after a harder to navigate dungeon like Snowpeak Ruins. Don't get me wrong, I like this dungeon. And maybe it wouldn't have fit with the story, especially since you wouldn't have most items yet, and it would've felt weird not doing the Forest Temple first. But still, I think it would have been an acceptable first dungeon in terms of difficulty.
Honestly in my opinion I feel like this should have been the boss of the forest temple it just seems more fitting to have a giant spider boss in the forest area than the temple of time.
I’m sort of wondering, is the eye an actual working eye or merely a design on her abdomen? Kind of like how some prey have markings making them seem far more intimidating than they really are?
Working eye, I mean we see her literally use it to detect link so... and if it wasn't working she probably wouldn't be rolling it around nearly as much as she does.
@@frederickdietz3148 Eh? The larger body has smaller eyes as well, (as does the smaller body,) I'm sure it's just a design. She would be able to see link with or without the larger "eye."
I feel kinda the same for those who have arachnophobia. This spider didn’t scare me, but Twinmold from “Majora’s Mask 3D” is my worst nightmare. I don’t know what kind of fear it would be called though.
Imagine having to step on this? Your gunna need to the big boot for this one. This spider gives spontaneous birth, it has a laser beam, and it’s huge. And it has to die at least twice. Impressive.
Armogohma is really stupid, when its right in front of the statue, it stops and opens its eyes! It would have been harder and more interesting if its eye was always open, and you had to time your shot at just the right moment to land it in front of the statue.
Armogohma needed the sunlight in order to fire his laser (pun not intended). That’s why it stays still: it needs to channel the light, and the eye on its back is to help it aim. The fact that the light sources are set up in front of the statues is on the builders, not the inhabitants.
Of all the boss fights in the game this one made me ask the most questions. For starters, who is Armagohma? That may seem like an odd question, but if she is the same spider queen, gohma from the very first game reincarnated or otherwise that means she's important, really only important people in Hyrule like Gannon, link, or Zelda reincarnate like so, is she sentient? If she's sentient did she make her own exoskeleton? Where did the exoskeleton come from and why is she there? Is the eye on her back functional? Where are the rest of her species? We really only see this particular individual spider "Armagohma" that looks like that in the game(s) and there must be at least one male to her species as we literally witness her birth children in front of us so those eggs were fertilized y'know. Where's her boyfriend?
My speculation is that Armogohma was some kind of specimen within the Gohma family tree that was transformed by the fused shadow. I’m assuming it’s a Gohma because it has the consistent trait that all Gohma’s have, being some kind of arachnid with a singular giant eye ntm the word Gohma is literally in its name.
3:02 - Link's sudden change of expression always gets me. I'm glad they were able to make Link so expressive even with the dark, edgier look of the game.
Twilight Princess sorta suffers from bosses being a little too easy. This is the 6th dungeon boss and it takes little effort to kill her. You really have to try to actually die to this boss.
Exactly what I don't miss about the old zelda games like twilight princess and such I hardly ever died. I'm liking tears of the kingdom ALOT because it is actually tough. Some enemies are easy but Ganondorf is THE MOST MENACING Ganondorf I've ever battled in any zelda. Such a tough battle.
