  • Part 4 of a series following the fortunes of West Ham United under Harry Redknapp.
There is no consistency in the results - after four points over Christmas, the New Year fixtures see defeat at Wimbledon despite having the lion’s share of possession. Scoring goals is the issue, but Forest benevolently donate three to the cause on New Years Eve, and The Hammers start 1995 unexpectedly taking a 2-1 lead at Blackburn before a Shearer Hatrick does for them 4-2. The BBC in general and pundit Alan Hansen (get well soon) in particular feel that West Ham are prime candidates for an upset at Wycombe in the cup but leave all parties disappointed with a routine 2-0 win. A disappointing run of three defeats after playing well against Tottenham the inability to put teams away is cruelly exposed. Sheffield Wednesday however, win largely due to referee Paul Danson deciding that Alvin Martin’s tenth-minute foul on Mark Bright warranted a red card. He was the only person in the stadium or among the viewers on Sky TV who thought so. Dumped out of the cup at Loftus Road by an Andy Impey goal, there are signs of life at Filbert Street where Cottee scores his 100th League goal for West Ham, but Leicester are having a wretched season so surely not too much can we read into it. The Hammers are in the bottom four and need to find their scoring boots if they are to survive.

So sad what happened to Boere. Always liked him as a striker. RIP big man.

4.34 mins - The newspaper article says Boere headed it into the path of Cottee....did they not go to the games back then?!

Another season and sadly the Hammers seemed to be as inconsistent as ever even with a new manager.
But let's face it for most football fans most of the time one season blurs into another but the really good moments are well worth waiting for.

Always taken Bonzo's side over Bagpuss. Saggy chops totally stabbed him in the back in my opinion.
