Lead singer Scott Stapp stated that the meaning of the song lyrics were about his own personal struggles with battling substance abuse, addiction and alcoholism and failing despite his best efforts, and him coming to terms with his inability to stay on the straight and narrow. Creed, led by singer Scott Stapp, was one of the most popular bands in the late 90s/early 2000's post-grunge era. They had SO many songs on the radio, and all of them were bangers. "Higher" is definitely one of their biggest. Also on your list should be "My Own Prison", "What's This Life For", "With Arms Wide Open", and "One Last Breath". Creed has so many hits, they're honestly one of my favorite band. Scott Stapp is the singer, who has some solo work as well. They're a post-grunge rock band. Higher, With Arms Wide Open, One, and My Own Prison I very highly recommend.
Lead singer is Scott Stapp. When the band split from Scott, guitarist Mark Tremonti, bassist Brian Marshall and drummer Scott Phillips joined up with Myles Kennedy to form Alter Bridge.
Being a child of the 50's this is the first time I ever heard them, however I met a couple of them. I was the building inspector on one of their houses. I think it was Scott.
@@chriso6719 Yeah I know, my kids were teenagers at the time. When I told them I was inspecting the house of one of the band members they told me they were a big band. Working the Windermere area of Orlando I was the inspector for a lot of Orlando's rich & famous. Tiger Woods, Shaq, Joey Fatone, Ken Griffey Jr, & Tyra Banks to name a few.
To me the main staple of Creed and later Alter bridge is Mark Tremonti ( the lead Guitarist ) You should check Alter bridge or his solo band Tremonti both are awesome modern rock bands. P.S. You want emotion listen to Alterbridge - Black Bird. You cant listen to it and not feel something.
After the lead singer left the band, the others went on to form Alter Bridge with Myles Kennedy (who also works with Slash). It's worth checking them out as well. Mark Tremonti is probably one of the best rock guitarists around at the moment.
Wish you would have listened to “With Arms Wide Open” it’s about the struggles of a man before the birth of his son.. my husband and I danced to it on our very first date 20 years ago.
After the lead singer, Scott Stapp, left Creed, the others picked up and formed Alter Bridge with Myles Kennedy as the lead singer… check them out especially the song Rise Today
This is Scott Stapp....phenomonal vocals...and the band rocks hard! Higher and With Arms Wide Open are great...but my fave is The Great Divide...Scott's best solo track!!!!
Their first album My own prision and second album Human Clay are in the top 5 Best selling rock albums of all time I believe Human clay went diamond almost 4 time in sales.
It took years for me to warm up to Creed. Not really a genre that I like much, but the lyrics are more coherent and positive than most bands. I finally saw them live and it was great. Fantastic live performance with a fantastic upbeat audience. They had at least a dozen great songs.
The best thing that came out of Creed Is Mark Tremonti! One of the best song writers and Guitarist living right now. He formed Alter bridge after Creed called it quits and he has an AMAZING Solo project Hard rock/Metal Named, Tremonti. The man never disappoints with his Talent. Creed is Great!! will always be a fan. I can play every song on the guitar by them. I was what you call obsessed lol. they came out when I was 16 in high school and really started getting into guitar. 22 years later I'm still at it.
You should check out Alter Bridge, it's the band members from Creed but Myles Kennedy as the lead singer. Creed still do music together occasionally and Myles is the singer for Slash and the Conspirators. Alter Bridge has one live performance of "Words Darker than their Wings" at the Royal Albert Hall that is absolutely beautiful. So worth the reaction.
Yo! I just discovered your site on TH-cam about a week ago. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT. I am considerably older than you. I am (African American)local singer musician on the Jersey Shore. I generally perform for resorts and I was raised to honor all musical tastes. I just watched your video on the band "CREED" (MY SACRIFICE). I perform this song as part of my show. I don’t whether or not you have already learned or not, but, believe or not, CREED IS A CHRISTIAN ROCK BAND. They were so good that the record companies created an image of them as a mainstream rock band. Listen to "My Sacrifice" again, forget the imagery, and know that the lead singer talking about "Jesus ".
A year ago, 👏 u might have been a decade or so late. But this song saved a whole generation & can personally can tell u most are still alive cause this song help got us through some our toughest struggles as kids/young adults.
@@MikeBryant-m9y that was to appease his bandmates who didn't want to be seen as a "Christian" band although Scott's writing is obviously heavily influenced by his religion. There's no denying it if you just listen to the words man.
Everything I felt as a Christian in the military as a Combat Medic. Man, these guys understood my life. My home life as a child was rough but I tried to help my sister from that life. Sadly, she chose a difficult life. My kids are good and am a grandparent with really well-behaved kids. Went through a lot with PTSD but my kids are getting the best of me.
I absolutely love Creed. When their second album "Human Clay" hit, I was at the record store (remember those) so early they hadn't even unpacked the boxes. They had to go get me the CD from the back room. A lot of people called them a Christian band, but they weren't really. The lead singer, Scott Stapp, was just brought up in a very religious household and wrote about what he knew. I saw them in concert once, and I'd have to say that Stapp poured more effort and emotion into every song than any of the other 60-70 lead singers I've seen. He may have been a jerk off stage, but he sure put in the effort on stage. There are two of their songs that you should definitely check out, both from that previously mentioned second album. First is "Higher." It was at number one on both the Modern Rock and Mainstream Rock charts for 17 weeks, which was a record at the time. And as parents, you will definitely want to check out their ballad, "With Arms Wide Open." You might actually shed some tears over that one. The band fell apart when the rest of the band got tired of dealing with the lead singer. The original guitarist, drummer, and bass player formed another band, Alter Bridge, with lead singer Myles Kennedy. Myles is also the lead singer for Slash, when Slash isn't off playing with Guns 'n Roses. Check out their song, "Isolation" if you really want to rock out. The guitarist, Mark Tremonti, has also formed a solo project called Tremonti, that plays some much heavier music. Also, since the breakup, Stapp has sobered up and released a few solo albums that are worth checking out. Basically, Creed is one of those bands that can really drag you down the rabbit hole. They have had several great songs of their own, and the band members have gone on to do other worthwhile projects, often with other musicians who are also worth checking out. You could spend a month reacting just to Creed and all the other musicians they're connected to.
They released this after 9/11 and the entire album was incredible, it helped me from going from being fearful to having courage and faith in America again, that we would survive and this was especially meaningful after the sacrifices of Flight 77 in giving their lives to protect Americans in DC after the Towers and Pentagon had already been hit! Scott Stapp is the lead singer and songwriter. An incredible voice and a major reason CREED got as big as they did. The band later tried going without him, but they never had the same success without him that they did with him.
Omgosh I’m so happy you’re doing Creed! “With Arms Wide Open” is another gorgeous song of theirs! Written when Scott Stapp found out he was going to be a dad again!
I loved Creed's music but for some reason they got a lot of negative reaction.... THe lead singer Scott Stapp was a bit controversial both within the band and in his personal life... Another band that for some reason gets huge pushback from the rock fanbase is Nickleback and I just don't know why because they have had numerous hits from the mid 90s into the 2000s. You might check them out but beware of the negative Nancys.....
I was a fan. I met Scott Stapp at Medieval Times in Kissimmee. I didn't want to bother him, but he was right in front of me, so I told him that I'm a big fan and love his work. He put his hand up and said "whatever, kid" like he was floating above me and I was some sort of peon. I threw his cd away as soon as I got home and haven't listened to his music since.
I really liked Creed. I LOVE AlterBridge! Myles Kennedy is a great vocalist and songwriter and guitar player! Meanwhile Mark Tremonti has been allowed to spread his wings and play amazing guitar solos and metal riffs….also sings the occasional song. They sounded a bit ‘Creed-like’ on their first album and have progressed amazingly every album thereafter. Not a bad sing in their repertoire 💪
I was completely obsessed with Creed when I was in high school, and I was totally in love with the singer, Scott Stapp. MTV did an episode of Making the Video for this song and it was like, the best thing that had ever happened in my life. My little 17 year old brain nearly exploded.
Wooow great reacton as Always 😁👍You should check out Alter Bridge now that you met Creed. This is almost the same band but with an other singer named Myles Kennedy and he's one the most talented rock singer Of our Time. The song Blackbird from Alter Bridge is a masterpiece 🤘
Creed started in Christian Rock and moved into mainstream without losing the faith theme. Great lyrics with a solid rock background. Great sound with a great message.
Their biggest song, that still makes me cry to this day, is ARMS WIDE OPEN. It's a song dedicated to the news of when he found out he was going to be a father. Get your tissues, because it will get you. It's so loving and beautiful. They can be labeled alternative Rock. Adult contemporary Rock, Ballad Rock or loosely categorized into Christian rock, because the lyrics are clean enough and have a spiritual undertone for faith, and struggle with overcoming bad things in their lives, like drug abuse, depression and etc.. Big 90's band.
Being a huge Creed fan, their songs are one or the other, you either get something nice and uplifting like this, or something pretty heavy like "Bullets", "Overcome" or "What If". Some songs are also pretty moody like "Torn" and "Illusion"
Holy WOW you guys have taken me back with this one. There was a very brief period in my early 20s where I attended a super fundamentalist Assemblies of God church, where we didn’t consume any secular media. Our college group collectively decided Creed was okay because the band members were Christian and the song themes were Christian-adjacent (whatever that means) so my friends and I basically became super fans. Even went to their concert though tickets were expensive for us. And then when I stopped going to church, I don’t think I listened to a song of theirs again, so it’s probably been a good 15 years since I’ve heard this-I couldn’t even remember the melody. I think they’re considered post-grunge or maybe even nu-metal and have some bangers, damn what the critics said back then. “With Arms Wide Open” was written when Scott Stapp found out his wife was pregnant and is a beautiful slower song, “One Last Breath,” and “My Own Prison,” were also popular, but my favorite was always “Higher.” Thank you for reminding me of them!
Creed is an awesome band. My favorite song is "Higher". Scott Stapp is a great vocalist, and Mark Tremonti is one of the best rock guitarists ever. So, when Creed broke up, the rest of the band hired a new vocalist, Miles Kennedy, and formed a new band called Alter Bridge. Miles is a top tier vocalist and guitarist, and Mark actually added a lot more lead playing to their songs. If you are interested in checking them out, I would recommend a live version of "Blackbird". I think you'll be absolutely blown away by that song and want to dive into Alter Bridge as well.
I had a friend who went to a Creed concert at nine months pregnant and went into labor in the middle of the show. She refused to leave until the concert was over. I recommend My Own Prison. Love that song.

Jay must listen to arms wide open! It’s about having a son . It’s just a beautiful song!!!!
I really love “One last breath” and “Higher”. Both of those are going to make you gush over Creed.
One Last Breath 👍
there gospel song was my fav
Creed has so many hits, they're honestly one of my favorite band. Scott Stapp is the singer, who has some solo work as well. They're a post-grunge rock band. Higher, With Arms Wide Open, One, and My Own Prison I very highly recommend.
Always loved Creed’s music. Other great songs are “What If”, “Bullets”, “Are You Ready”, “Who’s Got My Back” & “Stand Here with Me”
"Arms Wide Open" also
My Own Prison...One...Higher....Don't Stop Dancing...What's This Life For. You can't go wrong with any Creed song.
Also, check out their cover of Alice Cooper's "Eighteen"
Ive always loved dont stop dancing!
OMG I love Are You Ready. One of my faves.
"Higher", "My Own Prison", "One", "What's this Life For", "One Last Breath", "What If", "Torn".... so. many. great. songs.
@@spiderdog7599 Creed was big in the late 90's and early 2000's.
What’s This Life For is another great Creed song.
"What's this Life For" and "Arms Wide Open" will get the feels going. Great band!
So deep and beautiful the emotion .. thank you so much.
Tremonti is criminally underrated. Love alter bridge 🤘
I LOVED their Weathered album. My favorite song on it is "Who's Got My Back?" Wasn't a radio hit but a BANGER
YES! FUCKING YES!!!!
When your with me refers to when christ is with you! Great song about spiritual relationship.
Cmon guys people are now asking for Alter Bridge.
Its basically creed but with a singer called Myles Kennedy.
That guy can sing, he is incredible.
Love Creed....turn up that radio!!!
Wish you would have listened to “With Arms Wide Open” it’s about the struggles of a man before the birth of his son.. my husband and I danced to it on our very first date 20 years ago.
Amber will LOVE “With Arms Wide Open”!!!!!!
@@tonia-lynnkeller1970 she will!!! So will Jay!
Torn off the my own prison album is another fire tune as well!
@@johncbt6246 they have too many to name but yes! Torn is top tier! Love Scott Stapps voice in that one ❤️
@@caley1995 I agree Jay might relate to the "holy crap I'm gonna be dad" vibe of the song Arms Wide Open. Ha
My favorites of his solo stuff is broken, slow Suicide, purpose for pain, justify, and name.
Creed is probably my favourite band I love Scott stapps voice
Mark is a stand up guy. A great guitarist but a really nice man.
I agree with the Mark Tremonti comment. Alter Bridge is amazing as well as Tremonti. Amazing guitarist.
He’s talking about RE DEDICATING HIS LIFE TO CHRIST!!!!! He back-slid and is COMING BACK HOME!!!❤😢
100%
I have their first 3 cd's in my work truck right now! I know what I'm listening to when I get on the road😊
Their song Arms Wide Open is also great :)
you definetely need to listen with arms wide open its my fav song of creed
Gotta do "My own prison" FOR SURE their best song
I agree with Donna . Jay and Amber , you will love with arms wide open . Great tune !!
ARMS WIDE OPEN is a great song by them ❤️. It's about when he learned he was going to be a Dad.
One of my favorite bands!!! I'm sure you will like "Rain"
I haven't listened to this song in years. Gives me chills. His voice is epic and the lyrics are so good. Wait till you hear "One Last Breath".
Yess!!!
Love Creed
My favorite concert I've been to!!!
I didn't realize as a kid but irealize today that he's singing about Christ. And that makes these songs infinitely more powerful.
Nope. Scott said it wasn’t
@@MikeBryant-m9y that was to appease his bandmates who didn't want to be seen as a "Christian" band although Scott's writing is obviously heavily influenced by his religion. There's no denying it if you just listen to the words man.
@@steveyoung2877 he said that in interviews………. Years later. Stop
I 💜 This Band!🥰🤣🤗💃🎶
They released this after 9/11 and the entire album was incredible, it helped me from going from being fearful to having courage and faith in America again, that we would survive and this was especially meaningful after the sacrifices of Flight 77 in giving their lives to protect Americans in DC after the Towers and Pentagon had already been hit!
Scott Stapp is the lead singer and songwriter. An incredible voice and a major reason CREED got as big as they did. The band later tried going without him, but they never had the same success without him that they did with him.
alter bridge did well respectively... by the time they came out, the music scene changed on them
“Bullets “is a great rock song!👍
Omgosh I’m so happy you’re doing Creed! “With Arms Wide Open” is another gorgeous song of theirs! Written when Scott Stapp found out he was going to be a dad again!
You can’t deny the songwriting. I knew for sure amber would love this.
Creed has such a rough sound but they pull it off so smoothly, if that makes any sense. A deep passionate voice backed up with a serious rock sound.
Give a listen to With Arms Wide Open or My own Prison - their career launcher. The ballad from this band is titled Higher.
Finally. Been painstakingly waiting for more people to react to Creed.
Me too!
Seen them in concert and his voice is just as powerful live❤️
Such a uplifting song
Arms wide open. Bring you to tears.
“With Arms Wide Open” will blow you away especially since it’s about him having a child. Stamp is a talented man.
"Faceless Man" is their most Powerful song about faith. The music and the singing will give you goosebumps from the passion. I tear up to this day!!
LORD I STAAAAAND!!!!
Love them🙂. I wish they were still together!
Creed started in Christian Rock and moved into mainstream without losing the faith theme. Great lyrics with a solid rock background. Great sound with a great message.
Creed never released Christian music. The religious tones came from Stapps super religious/abusive father and how Stapp struggles with his faith.
Tremonti on guitar is sooo good too. Check out Tremonti's other band Alter Bridge's song Blackbird!!!
The BEST slow dance song EVER!!!!
“One” and “ With arms wide Open” are a must ! You guys are awesome
Love this band!
Being a huge Creed fan, their songs are one or the other, you either get something nice and uplifting like this, or something pretty heavy like "Bullets", "Overcome" or "What If". Some songs are also pretty moody like "Torn" and "Illusion"
I like how you rock the Bee Gees in the background I’m gonna have to find your reactions on those guys
I love Creed and Scott Stapp’s voice is gorgeous- I don’t care how much the hipster critics hate him. Kids- listen to his Lullaby to his newborn son.
A Thousand Faces is a great song by them as well
One of the greatest bands of all time
With Arms Wide Open and One Last Breath is recommended too
This is my favorite Creed song, and I agree with everyone that Arms Wide Open is spectacular too 🖤
I have requested so many channels to play Creed and it falls on deaf ears. TY for finally doing it. Their 1st album is Amazing!!!
I’ve been trying too! More is coming eventually 😊
I had a friend who went to a Creed concert at nine months pregnant and went into labor in the middle of the show. She refused to leave until the concert was over.
I recommend My Own Prison. Love that song.
LOL that’s epic 😆
Great power balled. They definitely use to rock.
Creed is one of the only band that sounds live just like you hear in a CD!!
The song Higher is another good one from Creed
Highly underestimated...Amazing sound, powerful...Sad the critics tore them down...Thanx guys, Blessings
This song will always remember of the 2002 Winter Olympics is Salt Lake City. This was one of the songs they sang at “the Olympic concert” one night. It brings back great memories, thanks for sharing.
