Great video! Thanks so much for reviewing our boxes! You gave some awesome tips and insight. As an aside, we can totally send a replacement part for your kids' Trip Wire! If you go to your account dashboard and visit the webpage for your Build Box, you'll find a replacement form! :)
Thank you! We will definitely keep the replacement part tip in mind in the future. For now they are already content with the next month's box. :) Thanks for an amazing product!
@CrunchLabs, I have an issue with the ordering process and currently having duplication of the disc thrower (will have another coin spinner in Feb.) I've called customer service and they said they will not take back the boxes (even without being opened,) nor would refund the money, or giving credit for future boxes for future credits. Here is the story. I ordered one month box in December for Christmas, my son loved it. I changed to an annual subscription. I thought I could just jump on the next month's box, but instead, they sent me another disc thrower box. I called and was told that they are not going to change it. I will have another box of the same sequence, which is the coin spinner. Only in March, I would be able to get a new box and move on from there. I was very confused and don't understand what is the rationale behind this. My child loved the toy, but he wouldn't want to have another set of the same toy. I told the customer service people that I don't mind keeping this one and giving it as a gift to someone. However, don't send me another box of the toy we already have. They said there is nothing they can do. I am disappointed and pretty sure this has to be from the miscommunication in the return issue. I don't think Mark Rober would force any child to have the same toy and not have a solution for such a simple problem
That does sound like an issue they need to figure out on their end. I’m sure lots of parents will try the monthly subscription and then want to move to yearly. I agree when you do a switch like this, you shouldn’t have duplicate boxes. I hope you are able to find a solution!
I know you likely will never read this, but I am INCREDIBLY frustrated with the Crunch Labs subscription that you keep advertising in your videos. I paid in full for a full year one back in November and we got our first box, and then nothing else. It is now February, and we still only have the first box. I have tried to check online, and it says that I don't have an account. I have a confirmation email, and we got the first box. Contacting customer support has been very frustrating. They say we have to update our payment information, but don't have an account we can access and sent me a link that pointed to someone else's payment information. This has been INCREDIBLY frustrating. I have a 7 year old that got this for Christmas and keeps asking when her next box will be here. There has been a lot of crying, and I feel like we are getting no where with you guys. Has anyone else experienced this?
Our experience has been completely opposite of what you have had or show here. I paid in full for a full year one back in November and we got our first box, and then nothing else. I am so sorry to hear this!!! Have you been able to get this sorted out with the customer service yet? Crunch Labs is a brand new company so I am sure they have kinks to work out, but I hope they are putting customer service as a top priority. Thanks for sharing so others are aware of this being an issue. I really hope you are able to get this sorted out!
@@KidsLearningforLife We have finally started getting boxes, but our experience with customer service was very frustrating, it's really especially frustrating because of how much both I and my children love his videos, the image that he relays is one of intelligence and caring and responsibility, and that was the opposite on all three counts of what we experienced with our customer service from his company
@@jteiber I am so glad you were able to get it sorted out! I'm bummed you had such an awful experience with customer service. My kids and I feel the same way about his videos, so you would think his company's customer service would instill those same values. Thanks for sharing your experience.
@@KidsLearningforLife And that's the problem when you get big. I'm sure he has nothing to do with the making and customer service of these products. He's just the face. Everything else is jobbed out 😞
Great video. You have done a very nice job of explaining things through and your enthusiasm comes through! I have one cynical apprehension and that is because of ALL those TH-camrs out there getting free stuff and paid to give "reviews" on products. So I just want to make sure you got the kits with the home schooling aspect in mind and only did the review well after you have used, and paid for, and had no intention of making this video when you first started out? Thanks, Rick
If you are asking if a 15 year old would learn something and be able to enjoy the boxes, I know as an adult, I learn things as I watch the videos with my kids. I sometimes assist my youngest putting his together and I have fun putting the builds together with him. Have you done other subscription boxes before? If so, have you enjoyed those?

Can I browse all options, and just select what I want? I hate how everything these days is a subscription. I would love to try these for my nephews, but I will not commit to a subscription.
As far as I know, this is not an option right now. I hope once they create more activities/boxes buying just specific boxes would become an option. I agree, I’m not a fan of subscriptions either, so I really hope they make single boxes an option in the future.
@@KidsLearningforLife They are limiting their customer base, by making it a subscription only thing. They would make more money, if they allowed customers to individually buy boxes, of their choosing.
I totally agree! My boys just completed the 11th box of the first year yesterday and in the video he announced a second year of subscription boxes. I don’t think we will continue with the second year, but Mark Rober did mention that the year 2 boxes will build on the concepts learned in year 1. So it doesn’t sound like he will be doing individual boxes anytime soon. 😔
It all depends on you and your children. You could use one subscription for three children, but they would have to share while putting the projects together and then share the toy. Some of the projects have duplicate toys (like the coin spinner comes with two, so you can battle a friend, and the catapult comes with three so you can make a chain reaction), but most only have one final project. With my three boys, I am glad we were able to get them each their own subscription. But, as long as your kids are willing to share the boxes you could make it work with just one subscription.
Thanks for the review! We almost bought them but my most enthusiastic engineer kiddo is only 4, so we are biding our time, so to speak ;) Also, do you feel like you really do need one box per kid?
You could do 1 box for multiple kiddos and have them take turns with steps and then share the final project. (The coin spinner box even came with two spinners so you could build two and battle with a friend.) With my three boys I knew they would all enjoy their own box and then I didn’t need to worry about any fights over the projects. We were fortunate enough to be able to buy them each one subscription, but if we needed to do just 1 box for all three I could have made it work. Hope that helps!
I ordered all three of my boys their own subscription. It would be possible to share a box with multiple siblings, but it would depend on your kids ages and the number of kids sharing. Two kids could probably share well (the coin spinner box came with two spinners for battle) but I think three kids trying to share a box would be less fun.
I subscribed for my kids for Christmas. How frustrating it was to discover that the subscription cannot be cancelled!!! Very deceptive. They don't even offer to charge a cancellation fee. I'm not even sure this is legal in Canada.
Was interested in subscribing & a big Mark Rober fan but went to trust pilot & disapointed to see terrible reviews “I subscribed for monthly annual plan… I subscribed for monthly annual plan and right after realised that my kid is too young for it. I wrote to support team and asked for cancelation. I did it 5 minutes later once I made the order. They told me that's not possible to cancel it. Only possible for 60$ fee. In total they took 36$ for 1 months + 60$ fee = 96$ just to cancel it. "Thanks" Plus 1 more The boxes are poorly made and break… The boxes are poorly made and break easily. Some of them are next to impossible to put together as they are not thought out well. My son and I were deeply disappointed with the quality coming from Mark Rober.
Yes, I think a 12 year old would enjoy these kits. The projects are very versatile and designed to allow kids of all ages to continue to experiment and test out new ideas. Also, my favorite part about the boxes are the video lessons from Mark Rober. If your 12 year old enjoys Mark Rober's TH-cam channel then they will enjoy these fun video lessons. Hope that helps!
You are correct, the 12 month subscription where you pay an annual fee (that is much more discounted) is not eligible for cancellation, but this information is stated on their website before you purchase. The Monthly subscriptions can be canceled anytime. I highly recommend only purchasing a yearly subscription if you are sure your child will love the product.
Subscription boxes are not exclusive to Kiwi Co. There are lots of other subscription box companies for kids (MEL Science, Little Passports, etc.)Yes, Mark Rober was affiliated with Kiwi Co at one time. I would be curious to know if Kiwi Co. helped him get started (even just by showing him the business process) and if they are still on good terms.
@@KidsLearningforLife It seems he started and got introduced to this business model from Kiwi though, no other business.. and then just bounced and pretended the name on the box didn't change and it was his company the entire time lol. Let's be honest and address the elephant in the room.
It is very difficult to be interested in this product when you don't show what is the content, to much talking that doesn't move me at all it gives me the idea that the activities are not interested at all, it is just a comercial .
Sounds like you are looking for something such unboxing of the products. I get it, she showed the kid bringing boxes in and them working on the projects but not in detail. I'm looking for other videos showing such details.
Thank you for your feedback. I agree with @patricksloan439, it sounds like you are looking for a full unboxing video. Since we had completed three different months of boxes, I didn't want to make the video too long and go through all of the items for each box. I will say that the boxes do come with EVERYTHING you need in them. I was even surprised when the coin spinner box actually came with CrunchLabs coins. I figured I would need to supply my own coins for the boys to use.
This video from CrunchLabs is a pretty good run down of what you get in the disc launcher box. Hope that helps! th-cam.com/video/8Og_TrqKZbw/w-d-xo.html
I am not sure if @CrunchLabs has their instruction booklets in other languages or not or if they even ship outside of the US. The videos you unlock with each box are housed on TH-cam, so you could turn on captions and auto translate, but I don't know how well that feature works. I suggest you take a look at the Crunch Labs website and possibly even send your question to their support team.
