Man I played this my freshman year, I'm a junior in college now and listening to this piece again brings me back to when i first fell in love with band and the trombone itsself. Our middle school band is playing this and I absolutely love this song!!! Super great composition, this song is so interesting and there's so many different parts. I love the low brass part at 3:12!!
My band class is playing this for our high school spring concert and our band teacher was student teaching and learning to become a band teacher from Dr. Golden who made this piece which i thought was sick and she’s also directing this piece for our concert!!
I went from concert band to honors band, so now this 8th grade year we get the music early so we can practice it. Sounds like a fun school year starting song!
I play alto sax and this piece is one of the few concert arrangements where we’re featured, I played it for assessment and we got all superior ratings and we’re playing it again for our end of the year concert. It holds a very special place in my heart I love playing it so much
My Band is Doing This Song for our Halloween Concert and I'm So Excited! I'm the Only Bass Clarinet in the Entire School District and I'm so Excited to Play my Part in This Song!
Mr Markowski i love how you still comment on these videos even 6 years later. I played this song for my county band and I was trombone 2. Im super glad you made the low brass have some attention for a change! You are amazing and thank you so much!
Currently playing this in my 8th grade symphonic band. I play Bass Clarinet and we have an amazing part along with Bari sax ( we have only one and he sits beside me) and I play my lowest note once which is rare. I love playing low notes so this song is my favorite 😁
Ghostly Sik i play bass clarinet too! My friend (bari sax) and i are playing this song in our 7th grade concert band! I love playing low notes with my friend because we sound amazing together!!!
Same here. Made freshmen region 3 band in texas and i was the snare in the song we played tonight. Loved the part. The half beat fill in the end sounded so good.
Played this last year 8th grade for me, I was first trombone and this was my favorite piece ever it’s so fun and all of the different sounds are soooo cool!!!
Played this for honor band, and i didn't realize that the "growling" was a sax, i thought it was a trombone or something until we practiced this together for the first time. Also one of the trumpet players got to scream during the trumpet "monster sound"
my band plays your pieces a lot! we did shine last year for assessment and it was one of my favorites!! we’re playing this one for our spring concert and i love it :)
I remember playing bells in this song! Will always be able to hear that part, but I still adore the song a a whole. (Having a bell solo was the best tho)
My son just got back from band camp and he played this! He absolutely loved it and has been listening and playing along with this video since he’s been back! He’s been working on composing for concert band says he wants to incorporate a similar style of music as this in his compositions. Is there anything you could tell him that would help him?
my band class just played this for our concert and our band teacher was student taught by Dr. Golden who made this song and we had her conduct our piece
Quick question...by any chance, was your conductor Corey Graves?? I just got home from the Kentucky All-State Band and I remember Mr. Graves mentioning having conducted the Georgia All-State...what other pieces did you play? Mine also did On The Wing, Tripwire, Squirrel Chase, Starry Night, and Gadget. I hope he didn't reuse all of the same pieces...
since my school schedules band last, i (flute player) got put in the brass class, as well as an alto sax. it's the best part when he has to do his multiphonic piece because everyone else tells him to "do the roar." i cant with my band class lmao
One of the only few songs where it’s OK for you to squeak on saxophone
I’m playing the alto 1 part and i’m lowkey terrified of some of those notes 💀
