Can't deny sure some videos are funny when a royal guard smiles or laugh. Just means their day was a little brighter from being boring. But can't help but feel bad for them. They are soldiers. And they get treated as tourist attractions. Can't imagine how many feel depression from working like that with people messing with you and your forced to do nothing

The Old Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown, here in the US, seem to have that figured out though. Those guys are among the hardest of hardasses, and very quickly put disrespectful tourists in their place

Id stop and salute these men. The Queens Guard are badass, as well as the Honor Guard and Royal Guards of Canada. Everybody makes fun and disrespects the Queens Guard, but I respect them greatfully because they are soldiers, and they've been through some of the worst a human being can go through. They deserve respect, not mockery
They really do lose pay if they're caught smiling or laughing people just need to let them do their job in peace.

Just some pointers for the (likely) American author who might have messed up his research:
1) Soldiers in the UK refer to the army as the British army. Indeed there is no English army and no serviceman would refer to the British army as the English army.
2) The Queen's Guard are not a ceremonial guard unit that servicemen and women move into. They are made up from the various guard fighting units that are highly capable and disciplined fighting units. They guard the queen on a rotational basis.
3) it's not a massive issue but the UK fought mostly in Helmand Province in Afghanistan.
I'm an average 40 something American female who generally knows nothing. And even I know that there's no "English army"

this creepypasta reading is the best one on youtube i've ever heard. Its so realistic and believable that the hairs on the back of my neck stand up when I found it it was his girlfriend at the door. I think the writing was excellent. I don't know much about actual queens guards which might have helped cover up some of its flaws.

Most of it doesn’t make sense apart from the weeks pay thing, even then he didn’t say anything in the story that would take his pay away.

I would only raise the barrel of my 22 long rifle or 12 gauge shotgun if it was apparent someone was making an attempt to kill me or do me serious bodily harm...Even then, if the attacker could be easily overtaken (ie. 90 pound nerd, woman, teenage punk), and was acting alone (not a gang of them), and it were possible for me to have a way of knowing for sure they were unarmed, such as in the case of that creepy woman, I would have physically and forcefully removed her from the house then phoned an ambulance to haul her off in a straight jacket to an insane asylum...I believe if paramedics knew how she was acting, there would be no problem in convincing the paramedics that she should be committed. Especially if she did that silent scream routine and repeated "10 - 9 - 8" for them ...I'm sure the counseling sessions, medication and a few electro-shock treatments would do her some good.

Listened to this story a couple of hours ago, but I'm still thinking about it. Really cool, the first one of these stories to genuinely scare me. The woman's first appearance wasn't that bad. Creepy, but nothing I couldn't handle. But later on, when he got out of bed and answered the door, and it was his girlfriend at the door... I'm glad I was lying down, because I think I would have fallen over I got so stiff. The whole scene at his home is probably the eeriest thing I've ever heard in a ghost story.

you dont get asked to be a guardsman,, you apply, only requirement is being the right height, they are no better than any standard british soldier and their issued number 1 uniform and an ancient mouldy bear hat :D

No specific height requirement anymore. Was on a range package recently and saw a Gren who couldn't have been taller than 5'5, Had a right fucking laugh
there are more and more free minds nowadays,, not many young men want to be meat in the grinder or feel the need to defend queen and country..

And the guards live in dormitories, in barracks together, btw, they don't just go home on their own at the end of a shift, damn, they're a military unit!

No member of a guard regiment is permanently stationed in Britain, all are active frontline soldiers and many have done multiple multiple tours. One regiment does do the bulk of guard duty but they still get deployed
