I LOVE this story. Thing that bothers me though. If this bitch was someone that the Queens guard knew about, why would the commander inform his guards about this before they EVER did their first shift.
Not only that but ultimately, imagine how it would sound. "Oh, by the way, there's this creepy chick that you may or may not see and if you speak to her, she'll haunt you and that'll be the end of you. Also, gate three is closed tonight and Garret, you're on entrance 4 duty. Right then chaps, let's head out." It's probably one of those things where you hope that it won't happen, so you have a "We'll cross that bridge when we get there" perspective about it. Hoping that maybe, just maybe she'd have pissed off and gone somewhere else, then you can avoid even bringing her up, altogether.
That was my question, as well. But, maybe, it only happens to certain people, and I would imagine that it's not really something that a Commander of the Queen's Guard would want to suggest to his soldiers.
If you've heard the Strange 911 Calls: training call, (or something like that) creepy pastas, they do warn the trainees about the weird thing ahead of time. Kind of. They have someone with them until they experience it. Then explain it to them. Kinda. So, maybe they could gibe the guard a vague heads up. Like claim the lady is testing the guards or something.
Honestly did not get the point to this story. It had great potential, but never delivered. I had expected the Guard's superior office to have some explanation, or some further part to play in the story. It was obvious that he knew of this apparition, had obviously seen her, and knew not to speak to her, but how and why? How did he deal with her, and why didn't he explain anything to the guard, while still obviously acting to defend him? What was the purpose of the counting and threatening? Of course there was the suggestion of something being passed on, but why to the child? Was it easier to "infect" the terrified child rather than an experienced and hardened combat soldier? It was unsatisfying to get no explanation of any kind, or any idea of what was going on. .
Exactly what was the point of all this, what is it, why does a Military man not obey what his superior tells him what to do? Also for a "Hardened" combat soldier its funny his mind works like this, Oh kids blown up nothing, creepy bitch being creepy "OH GOD FREAK OUT! IGNORE GUYS WHO SEEM TO KNOW NOT TO FUCK WITH IT! AND KEEP ON CHATTING WITH THIS ENTITY, ME SO SMART!"

He could have said "don't say anything to her or you will be possessed" I think that would have drove the point home quite a bit better. There is a leadership trait in the military for that, "keep your subordinates informed". So really its just bad leadership. Also just because he is a combat veteran doesn't mean people doing super natural shit wouldn't un nerve him. But I agree the ending was completely unsatisfying but other than that was a good story.

Mark Montero He didn’t need to tell the whole guard, he could have just told the dude when they where in the office alone together. But no he just wanted to be mad and cryptic. Yes telling the whole story would leave no mystery, but the writer could have given us a little bit more to work with, we have no explanation for anything, just a couple explanations would have been very much appreciated.

My boyfriend has night terrors and paralysis, he says sometimes there's a pale woman with dark hair who lies in between us when we sleep. He came across this creepy pasta before I did, and doesn't get scared because what he sees in his dreams are worse. But this one fucked him up a bit, because he instantly thought of the woman he sees. The fact that she lays in between us scares the shit out of me. Sleep paralysis sounds scarier that anything they portray in horror films today; I don't know why there's nothing scary to watch anymore...

Also in the first part The Army is called the "English Army" when I'm sure most Brits (myself included) would call it the British Army. Must be written by an American? Irrespective, I love your readings, the Search and Rescue series is excellent.

Really, really well narrated, but the story, while starting out incredible, had a very disappointing ending. I thought for sure she was going to end up being the spirit of some historic British woman, like Bloody Mary or something, unleashing her wrath on British soldiers not abiding by their duty. Why the hell would she target a Queen’s Guard of all people if not? The one group who wouldn’t respond to her creepiness? And if she was just some normal, possessed/infected woman, how did she manage to get into his flat and bed without him noticing? And if she had no connection to the Queen’s Guard/Tower of London, why was the commander the only one who seemed to know about her? And why was she in a shining white dress in that one encounter? It’s like the writer decided to abandon all the original buildup just for the ‘shock’ of the niece getting infected. Very unfortunate.

The very last straw should be when she is fcking with the kid, at that moment i'd say just about every and any human being would beat her till she moves. Psychological threats are only viable for a certain amount of time, after which a breaking point has to come one way or another. That breaking point didnt happen here and the guy just kept on backing off till the entire thing became no longer relatable. But yeah. Great job otherwise. You managed to keep the tension high and strike the right cords outside of stretching it too far. A+ in my book

I'm am not defending 9mm btw, but when you say something like "45acp is the way to go because 9mm wont do shit" you are pointing out to everyone of us that are in the know, that you not one of us. What size fire extinguisher is the best? Very similar argument with the same answer. None are large enough to put out a large fire, just big enough to get you out safe. The more you learn, the more you will avoid using terms like best, better, knock down power.
Justice when I was 10 and my dad bought me a 1911 I too used to talk about knock down power and punch.... and about how .45acp was the best pistol round ever... then I grew up and did some research.... the only time I would choose .45 over a 9mm is if standard ball ammo was the only thing available... ball means full metal jacket, FYI.. anyway, modern 9mm hollow points like Barnes, critical defense, etc are the most reliable performing round with the best overall performance and consultancy. The ammo capacity is more, the penetration of 12-14 inches even after going through heavy clothing and barriers is going to occur more often. Do mainly to the higher velocity. and they expand wider and more reliably that 45 because of higher velocity.... so yea, if it was 1944 and I had to choose a Luger or a 1911, im taking a 45.... but modern advancement makes a difference. Hence why every special forces in the world use 9mm hollow points... including marsoc who just dropped their 45acp 1911s for 9mm glock 19s and 17s.

She did turn into this woman (probably less weird tho), but the good part is that the guy who has to care of her will "get it" and the niece will hopefully be fine. The best part is that it's not his problem anymore. Maybe, if the guy on the train "catches it" the niece will turn normal again or maybe not idk
