Effettivamente non so perché non li avevo ancora aggiunti nella mia lingua madre, ma adesso i sottotitoli ci sono anche in italiano!

The conversation between Naruto and Sakura does not necessarily mean that Naruto and Hinata had been dating because Sakura had known for a long time that Hinata liked Naruto. During the film we see Sakura sending indirect of this type to Naruto. What reinforces your thesis is Naruto's response. It still doesn't mean they were dating. Naruto and Hinata may have simply met and talked. After that Naruto meets with Sakura and we have this dialogue. Naruto's response would make sense in this context.

Hello. Were it a real situation, of course an out-of-context exchange would not be enough so infer anything. However, when I view it as a fictional situation, the fact that a professional author would write that conversation without giving us any context (i.e. not having Sakura say or think she saw Naruto and Hinata talking or anything like that) tells me that we're supposed to already have the context, which in this case could only be the movie. I understand that out-universe explanations are risky, and maybe not satisfying for everyone, but I do genuinely believe that it's more likely for the official timelines to be wrong (also considering the other errors they committed) than for that scene to be referring to a random, unmentioned event. P.S.: Sorry that it took me 2 years to see the comment 😅😅
