    Brick is porous, and now there is no longer a moisture barrier seal around the window flange. Won't moisture make its way into the home due to lack of moisture barrier tape?

    • @jamesrobinson8428
      @jamesrobinson8428 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      In North America to my knowledge it isn't actually code to put in the blue moisture barrier tape. Although I know guys who do it anyway.

    • @infotechsailor
      @infotechsailor ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There's an air gap between brick and the zip board/window flange. Moisture won't get in thru the brick pores. Maybe thru any seal gaps. Just cualk the hell out of it.

  • @DaveWesely
    @DaveWesely 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    Couple big mistakes here - a broken seal on the glass is not a good reason in itself to replace an entire window. Glass replacement is much easier and cheaper. The other mistake is using fiberglass insulation "to stop drafts". Fiberglass insulation does not prevent air flow, it only filters it. So if the exterior caulking/foam didn't seal the window perimeter, the fiberglass won't help.

    Love what you are doing, but i have bought Pella windows for years on my job's, so i put them on my new house and low and behold they failed my door's that is,called them told them the problem, they new it was a bad lot. But i had them for 9 years, they ask if i had the receipt when i bought them! Of course i did not would not replace, the doors are slowly decomposing, i know aluminum doors who would have thought 🤔 why would a company do that? I will say again they knew it was a bad lot hell it's on them why not replace?

    Depending on the age of the window shouldn't that caulking have been tested for asbestos?

    • @markh.6687
      @markh.6687 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sure, if you want to turn a window replacement into a major job. Then if you find it, you have to hire asbestos-removal certified contractors. You have to have long-term exposure to asbestos for a health issue, the tiny amount involved here and short-duration exposure isn't a problem. But, here's the rub: if you are a 'professional' you are bound by the Federal and State rules for asbestos mitigation or removal, including certification.

    $300? This must be from 1988. A wood framed window will NOT be $300 now, more like $ 600 or more + accessories (screen, sash locks, etc). Closer to $700 or $800 with a few simple options. Maybe a date at the end would be helpful so someone doesn't think these are today's prices. Fairly good video otherwise.

    Love Ron and everything he posts but this video should be removed and replaced with an updated version. The prices they talked about are dated, and the window they installed (Pella ProLine) was the source of a $100,000,000 class action for poor window construction and misrepresentation.
