The behind the scenes filming footage shows that after Peter gives up, Hook actually takes a line and gets hoisted up there to talk to him.
"I wanted to kill Peter Pan...but you did it for me, didn't ya?" he asks.
I feel like that scene should've stayed in the movie. Because it shows a lot of depth to Hook. He hates Peter Pan, but he hates what Peter has become _even more_ because now he's just a sad, pathetic old man who isn't worth his time. The enemy that he knew all those years ago and - dare say, had fun with - might as well be dead.

Hook always felt humiliated being beaten by Peter Pan all those years. So when he had a chance to humiliate Peter and make him suffer for all those times, he cannot enjoy it because his greatest enemy lost his memories and is completely different man.
