Finally, someone explaining this subject in full detail. I couldn’t find any resources anywhere, and now we all have something to work with. Thank you a ton!
The Intro is masterpiece, Mentioned like (MatPat), greatly tutorials, 6:06 - Badass derailment remake, 7:14 “Hello” Thomas | AmtrakGuy365, this is how to learned about cameras, visuals and effects really will help (If we were troubling to start with in the first place): But at least this theory a “Trainz” theory :]
As I am preparing to film my own movies using Trainz, seeing this come out with advice has been a blessing. Thank you very much for the great tips and tricks as always!
I have been a filmmaker for Trainz for many years now. Right before I got Trainz 2022, I was a beginner using Trainz 2010, I didn't have a flying cam and only a free-roaming, tracking camera, chase view, and of course cab view mode. Also, I know how to make train crashes in Trainz 2010, making big compliments to derailing trains. Also, I made the series all about Thomas in Trainz as well and I did make a series well but there's a problem with my series, many people started to bully and harass me that I was ripping off from the original stories and I was mortified by this. But that wasn't until I tried to create my own stories and continued throughout the years and it wasn't until I switched to TANE and I continued making more creative stories, it was a big feature for derailment with TANE which is superelevation that means you can tipping any engines and rolling stocks over like I want to simulate to make realistic derailment. However, for trains and rolling stocks when they crashed, they didn't simulate damaging the engines and rolling stocks and covering dirt, snow, and grass when it was overturning engines or any condition, just unbelievably clean and undamaged. And I was making continuing stories but no flying cam, just the same way but it's a feature of the camera which is zoom in and out view mode and you can make zoom in and out whatever you want. After finishing TANE, I moved on to TRS19 where I made some improvements, I finally got a flying cam for the first time since I didn't have it and now I could use it and my old models are translated to 19 as well...but some of them are don't. Also, I was continuing my stories and sadly it might be the end of my series but my own stories still never end. The first time, I got Sodor Workshops models which are PBR for Trainz 19, and one problem was eye moving and I didn't know how to do it, and then I used TSI models as well and continued throughout the years, sadly my old PC has gotten worst and my game was certainly laggy. And that wasn't until I got a new PC this year and then I got TRS22 and the game was running smoothly now like Trainz 2010. Also, I finally got eye moving on my Thomas models and continued making videos as well. And so, here am I and I'm still learning about doing things in Trainz.
Another tip when it comes to animating eyes on Thomas characters is to use a video game controller with analogue joysticks, makes it infinitely easier to control a character's eyes with precise movements without having to worry about the hud or a premade path causing you headaches. Trainz (At least post TANE) natively supports analogue controllers.
3:44 I usually combat the issue of not being able to blow the horn by placing down “AutohornZ invisible” trackmarks and setting the train to have an AI driver. Another tip that I use specifically for filming Thomas characters is the use of quick zoom-ins using the FOV and a bit of motion blur, specifically for when a character’s shouting or if there’s a quick snappy crash.
These tips will be especially useful for my planned high iron Santa Fe music video, ironically this series is helpful for both trainz and Roblox video making lol
2 extra tips are that if you also want to get a better shot, you can place down an invisible track and an invisible loco and use the tracking camera, and second, for 19+ users, you can use the PBR flying camera, which does not have a dot or any tiny circle.
Wow! I've been using this game for years and never heard of the flying camera. I'm gonna be experimenting with that going forward. The Trainz Spotlight actually solves a problem I've been having for years. How to light underground train stations.
Thank you Jared I really needed this I’m a new trainz player to pc with trainz a new era and trainz 2022 with only experience I have is trainz driver 2 on iOS so thank you really for all this help
I don't really use the program but this is some good general filmmaking! The idea of filming characters from above to make them look small is actually a bit difficult in film with traditional human subjects, at least will not looking cheesy. But the size of a locomotive makes it a lot easier!
This has been really informative and helpful. I don't know if I could apply the more advanced tips and tricks in T:ANE. But some of the more simpler ones I can certainly try. I was thinking of upgrading to either Trainz 19 or 2022. Whichever one's much simpler and best to work with.
This vid actually contains a lot of good general cinematography advice. It's just using Trainz as a 3D animation software like Autodesk Maya or Blender
Thank you mate Im working on an appalachian west virginian-pennsylvanian route and might wanna upload some shit, your route building video is still helping me today lol🙏☝️
@Cooledman2099 i do make a reskins of JR203 into joban line livery and a few PNR livery Also theres someone that makes a reskin of a Indonesian GE U18C into a PNR GE U15C/U14C And one that makes from scratch (but its Payware and using Indonesian currency)
what an amazing video :) Thanks man, although i might not use it very much, i learned alot about filmmaking with it :D Not necessarily for trainz, but it's still Very useful nonetheless
For the OBS Studio settings, do you have any preferences when setting up your frame composition and filming speed? I kinda would like to try outputting some Trainz videos in something like an 2400 H x 1800 V pixels between 24 to 48 frames per second in a 1.43:1 15-perforation aspect ratio which for horizontally-projected 70mm film would be IMAX. As for a 1.66:1, 1.85:1 and or 2.00:1 aspect ratio on 8-perforation 35mm film run horizontally at 24-25 frames per second with a frame of 14180 H x 9910 V pixels, that could be VistaVision. Another favorite would be a 2.40:1 aspect ratio on 2-perforation 35mm film run vertically at 24-25 frames per second with a size of 22,000 H x 9,470 V pixels to get Techniscope.
12:16 wah it's the Bairnsdale to Orbost line, damn you Jeff Kennett, you shut down almost every line in Victoria which was Mildura, Bairnsdale, Dimboola, Leongatha, Cobram and Ararat. Followed by Cobram to Numurkah, Ararat to Beaufort and Dimboola to Stawell. most of those lines are now freight ran only Dimboola Ararat (Ararat now has passenger trains again) and Mildura which saw it's first passenger train since 1993, when 707 operations ran a train to Mildura and are going again later in the year
I want to get back into my video making ideas. Had some good stuff thought up, but that was before I could GMod animate, but nowadays I could probably pull off a video using that and Trainz, since I can model stuff from Trainz into Source engine
on 12:59 "show post-processing settings" I've never seen that before! how do you access that? Ik he showed developer but I don't see that option when i look on the dev tab
If I may ask something which this video reminded me of but is somewhat unrelated: At 5:14, that little VW is a model I released around 10 years ago. I've been out of the Trainz scene for a while, but wanted to know if it still holds up in newer versions? And do all its little features (radio, gearstick, animated engine, etc.) work?
Does the custom trainz spotlights work on Trainz 19 build 117009? I prob have the normal version, is riley planning to make a varient for non platinum edition users of trainz 19
Finally, someone explaining this subject in full detail. I couldn’t find any resources anywhere, and now we all have something to work with. Thank you a ton!
1:36 if you use the PBR Camera vehicle, there's no tiny circle at all. i would recommend using that one instead
Ay another comeng

It had been 2 years...explain why.
Random railroad history before video game ig 🤷♂️

As someone who is working on it's own trainz series, this info is worth MILLIONS, thanks a lot man, you probably saved me hours of headaches 👍
Awesome, we finally back after 2 years and 1:24 OH GOD WHAT THE FU--
1:24 That's some high quality details right there!

So many years of good videos and we finally have the explanation I’m am very thankful. Thank you so much
this is a pretty marvelous video 👏 well done
I now have a new appreciation for trainz videos
This is going to be very helpful for me thanks Jared!!!
Thank you for these tips, even though I use Trainz driver 2 because I’m on mobile, this has really helped, thank you so much!!
i have been waiting for this since the last episode, and it was worth it
ANOTHER ONE FINALLY LETS GOOOOOOO
5:26
Fitzgerald cameo! I never knew a model of it existed in Trainz!
I think it's just a generic ore freighter. More of them exist than just the Fitz', I hope you're aware.
@kupferbergbahn7952 Maybe. I just saw the red and yellow stack, and assumed it was the Fitz.
That derailment was smooth as silk
Finally another another vid of this series , please do more theyre really helpfull!
Wonderful video. This definitely help to film Trainz easily.

Really appreciate this tutorial. Never knew about this asset.
This is definitely going to help me
Thanks Jared!

Awesome video! This will really help me with Trainz! ❤️👍😎
Just so you are aware, this video of yours was featured on N3V Games' September 16th issue of the Trainz Newsletter.
Great tips and explanations!
I don't really use the program but this is some good general filmmaking! The idea of filming characters from above to make them look small is actually a bit difficult in film with traditional human subjects, at least will not looking cheesy. But the size of a locomotive makes it a lot easier!
Congrats on 100K!
Never thought I would see any other trainz theory
This has been really informative and helpful. I don't know if I could apply the more advanced tips and tricks in T:ANE. But some of the more simpler ones I can certainly try.
I was thinking of upgrading to either Trainz 19 or 2022. Whichever one's much simpler and best to work with.
Fraps and Bandicam: are we invisible to you
WE GOT A NEW TRAINZ THEORY BEFORE GTA 6 BOYS 🗣🗣🗣🗣🗣🗣🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥💯💯💯💯
about time we got another trainz theory lol
TRAINZ THEORY 2 CONFIRM
This vid actually contains a lot of good general cinematography advice. It's just using Trainz as a 3D animation software like Autodesk Maya or Blender
Thanks for the tips, Jared! We'll put a lot of them to good use.
Well hello! Nice to see you guys here! I wonder who commented this one 👀
Oh and happy a half 1 trillion subscribers I miss engines of Amtrak
6:34 that crash was unreal! 😦😮
Thank you mate Im working on an appalachian west virginian-pennsylvanian route and might wanna upload some shit, your route building video is still helping me today lol🙏☝️
thanks jared i could totally use this (i dont have trainz)
1:24
With Indonesian trainz addons its a different story 🐦
(Some only use Invisible cab and some just... Don't have any Interior)
yall get models of your trains? (I'm from the Philippines)
@Cooledman2099 i do make a reskins of JR203 into joban line livery and a few PNR livery
Also theres someone that makes a reskin of a Indonesian GE U18C into a PNR GE U15C/U14C
And one that makes from scratch (but its Payware and using Indonesian currency)
Wildnorwester beat you to the punch 😂
Yes
How the hell can you cause a trainz derailment that realistic 😳 6:20
Love starting a video off with GTW
But Remember that’s just a THEORY a TRAINZ THEORY
Thank you jared
Spadinaa/Rail lands is gonna move foward without any delays
what an amazing video :)
Thanks man, although i might not use it very much, i learned alot about filmmaking with it :D
Not necessarily for trainz, but it's still Very useful nonetheless
i was waiting for part 2!
5:21 the Edmund Fitzgerald
With this video I would Recreate the Green Screen Map on Rolling Line with Lime Green and Black as a Background
it has returned
Helpful tip, by using an AI train on a route with horn crossing triggers, you can use the Camera vehicle and hear the hornsound at the same time.

If you wanna pan, use the walk mode with a PS/Xbox Controller.
This ^
Hello papa, thank you for the tip!
12:16 wah it's the Bairnsdale to Orbost line, damn you Jeff Kennett, you shut down almost every line in Victoria which was Mildura, Bairnsdale, Dimboola, Leongatha, Cobram and Ararat. 2:40 this looks like the line from the railroad episode of mighty machines
my god someone remembers that
I want to get back into my video making ideas. Had some good stuff thought up, but that was before I could GMod animate, but nowadays I could probably pull off a video using that and Trainz, since I can model stuff from Trainz into Source engine
The BNSF50 Invisible track is better for vision if you need it.
on the topic of the exterior cam shot for the thomas models
pretty sure you can do the same with K&L's models too
1:24 THE F40PH IS A FREIGHT TRAIN NOW
Hey it’s just a theory! A Trainz Theory!
on 12:59 "show post-processing settings" I've never seen that before! how do you access that? Ik he showed developer but I don't see that option when i look on the dev tab
You should make a movie based on trains but use trainz this time for a movie
*me watching a video about stuff I already know just to feel validated 😂
I forgot about this series lol
7:26 I believe you’ve seen the video of the leaked draft of the cancelled WWll Thomas movie
Yay it's been 2 years
If I may ask something which this video reminded me of but is somewhat unrelated:
At 5:14, that little VW is a model I released around 10 years ago. I've been out of the Trainz scene for a while, but wanted to know if it still holds up in newer versions? And do all its little features (radio, gearstick, animated engine, etc.) work?
6:07 nahhh not the hl2 train pass by sound effect
What software would you recommend to edit your videos? Anything but windows movie maker that is old
Of course its after I just completed a big video project
Awesome
Nice!
I have Trainz a new era and almost everything is for 2022 or 2019, heck I can’t even get an F40PH or good Thomas stuff
This was by far the most helpful Trainz video🫡
If you ever need a sample for a acs-64 septa i have one. And also the Amtrak alcela horn
FINALY!
Dude where have you been
how do i get my trainz to not look so pixelated, i have 1080p?
How do you change superelevation? Guides I've seen are very confusing
Could you do one of these videos but with Train Simulator instead please
After 3 years💀
I am the 1000 like on this video. 👍
Who are the voice actors you used for your Thomas & Friends and other talking train series just😊😮❤
That intro threw me off really bad lmao
i only do 3/4 wedge/80 percent wedge or 60 percent wedge.
What about Trainz 2019, i got my error
Does the custom trainz spotlights work on Trainz 19 build 117009?
I prob have the normal version, is riley planning to make a varient for non platinum edition users of trainz 19
1:27 I need to know were you got that d&rgw model
6:07 Norfolk Southern pov Norfolk Southern pov
What do you recommend for building a layout. Short line or interurban?
I have Trainz 2019
