John, pull out the rubber liner from the cubby ( there is just a little sticky stuff holding it in place) and you’ll see that there is a drain hole in the liner which lines up with a drain hole in the cubby. I used a small round file to open up the drain hole a little bit in the cubby so the phone end of the charger cable fit through it, trimmed the liner drain hole a bit also. Used a 6’ long charger cable, fed the phone end of the cable through the liner and cubby as I put the liner back in, ran the cable across the fairing brace, and up through the trim piece that’s around the bar risers and up to my phone holder. It’s out of the way and no dangling cord. Just wanted to share another option for running the cord.
I want to thank you for the video of explaining the rear suspension needed to adjusted because it wasn't from the factory ,I actually ran into the same problem that mine was never adjusted and the top ring was turned all the way up and now I set it like you showed and bike doesn't bottom out anymore thank you .
I encountered the same issue, so I purchased the same product and it works wonderfully. I went on a 300-mile trip and here's one tip: always turn the bike on, let it boot up, and then start it in neutral.
Your quad lock head is the chargeable head. Run the cable through the plastics covering the top triple clamp and run the cable under the tank to your battery. You have to modify the battery cover slightly so that it will seat properly “literally trimming 2 pieces of plastic off the cover” and just in front of the battery is some empty space to tuck spare cable and zip tie. Rather than cutting a hole in a major plastic piece of the front fairing. I’ll send you a pic/vid on IG
Hey guys, Sorry if this has been answered, but I’m struggling with how to use the mesh intercom on my Sena 50S while the headset is connected to the bike (‘24 RG) as it needs to be to run CarPlay. Is there a way to use CarPlay AND a mesh intercom at the same time?
Yes!!! I am having the same issue with my 24 RG. I phoned Apple and they spent about 1 hour with all kinds of updates and setting but it didnt help. I am going to reach out to your guy for my device. thanks man!
Update - I ordered the dongle from Torque Customer Cycles on Tuesday, they mailed it on Thursday and i received it today! Installed it and it works great. Im with you and hoping this will fix the glitching issue and stay connected to apple carplay. Thanks John!
Same thing for me!!! I found out that when my iPhone is plugged in to that port along with the bypass trick (same as you showed) that it would cut out. Work around for me and my 2024 RG was to FIRST make sure my iPhone got connected via Bluetooth THEN plug it in. It only cuts out when CarPlay is running hard lined. But it won’t cut out when via Bluetooth. How do u know which CarPlay is running? When u see in CarPlay the battery icon being charged, you’re running it Bluetooth. When there’s no battery charging icon, you’re hard lined. I’m planning to start my own TH-cam channel to show it cuz it took me a bit to figure it out and I’m a nerd so I love figuring this stuff out. Found a WHOLE LOT OF OTHER STUFF that’s not on HD site that I’ve been looking to see if anyone has found and zero vids. You’re as close as showing the most with the new bikes. LOVE YOUR STUFF BROTHER. 2 wheels down and God bless!!!
would this work also with a 2024 TriGlide Trike? Wondering to ask because they still have the old version of the screens unlike the new 24's Street Glides and Road Glides have? Also Did I miss the link for the plug in adapter??
If I’m not mistaken and you can get in touch with volunteer audio to verify this, he has a flash device for your factory unit that will clear up the cut back when you start the engine vs having the acc on and there’s a feature when selected will allow your apple car play to work through Bluetooth without a headset. If I understood correctly you order the unit and it is a one time use only and after use you send it back to him. But when it comes to you it has a new license that reconfigures your factory unit so you can control the EQ more and turns the Bluetooth option on for the CarPlay. Hope this makes sense. I sometimes have trouble describing some things when it comes to electronics.
Why not just buy the quad lock power cable and run it from battery under tank to the qi charger? That’s what I did. It removes cables dangling from cubby and you won’t need to drill a hole.
I don’t know about the 24 bikes but on my 21 RGS I was able to pull the usb cable out of the cubby from inside the fairing cap. I used a rubber grommet the fill the hole. I then connected a long charging cord using some black tape to make sure it doesn’t come apart. I ran the charging cable through the same place all the hand controls go through. Makes for a very clean look and you can still plug in your phone. Sorry if this sounds confusing it’s a lot easier than I could explain it. Hope this helps you out. Keep making these great videos.
Yes I had the same problem while riding. When I connect wireless CarPlay. The whole CarPlay drops and infotainment is blank. I can’t even get into settings. I had to pull the fuse out.
I have a 24 street glide. I use a Sena SRL3 headset and my CarPlay randomly disconnects then I have to do a dance of powering everything off then on to get my apple CarPlay to connect again. Sometimes it’s quick and other times it won’t reconnect at all for a while
Awesome stuff John!! Very informative, great video!! Americade is a great time!! Have a blast🤘🏻💯. My girl and I, along with some friends are going to Laconia , June 7th to the 11th 🇺🇸💯🤘🏻
So I did the same thing but connected it to my heated gear plug beneath the seat, with a small ‘Bqttery Tender” 12v to 5v USB converter, and a heated gear to SAE cable converter from Gerbing. I also wired my quad lock wireless charger direct from the battery, under the tank, with an auto shut off, so,it doesn’t drain the battery. Quad lock sells that kit.
Yeah man! I've been running Tim's Stereo Carplay Bypass under my seat for a couple of months. Works great! I had emailed you about it, but I probably didn't explain it clearly, but I think eventually everyone will move to a solution like this, as it's the cleanest currently imo. I also had a lot of carplay disconnects, but I typically plug my phone in now and have not had any issues since.
Good stuff John and my challenge is I use a Cardo. So if I want Apple CarPlay to show on the screen, I can’t listen to music through the Cardo. It has to come through the bike. Actually considered getting the Harley GPS for 350 just for that which makes me sick thinking about it. 😂
Great information. Also I thought that you could program your Garage Door Opener to the the Harley. I saw someone on TH-cam talking about it. Worth looking into.
I camp a lot at night and do not always have power to charge my phone so for that reason I like having my phone plugged into the USB port charging while I’m riding all day. It works for me
Rather than add a usb port, why not buy the quad lock charging head and run wire back under tank to hook up for power? Taking tank off to run wire is easy.
Hey John Regarding that plug for apple carplay from torque custom cycles, he charges $15.00 for shipping that little ass plug and sends it the slowest possible method, my guess would be it costs 3 bucks to ship cheapest possible means and pockets the rest!
Brother, come on man don’t you know how much shipping costs these days? You probably don’t because you don’t ship anything. Mike runs a respectful, great business and puts out a lot of great projects. For you to say this is beneath you. He even told me he would give you a refund and you refuse so why would you even make this comment? Is this what this world is coming to?
Hey Jon, Hope your well, regards the Quadlock and charging, you should wire up the wireless charger you have with the quadlock smart power supply, this way youll be able to charge your phone without plugging it in. keep up the content. always enjoy your videos
Tim’s stereo systems in Wisconsin makes those for the Harley Davidson . I have had one on my bike for four months now and it works fantastic. I think it was $110 with shipping. Great person to work with.
Hey John, Black Jack is looking awesome! I am wondering, do you have an affiliate link or discount code for Santoro Fabworx stuff? I'm going to be ordering the crash bar and bag guards and just thought I'd try and go through your link if you had one since you introduced me to the product. Let me know. Thanks bud.
Just curious, why do you need your phone on the bars when you are running CarPlay? Just wanting to know what your thoughts are because I only need to see the phone to see the info that CarPlay shows. I love that I can just plug it in and drop it in the glove box and run my CarPlay using the solution I got from Tim's Stereo Solutions (that I made a video about over a month ago) that plugs into the same jack under the seat. Love the bag organizers though they are really cool! I also use the "filler" bags for tools in the bottom of the bag that Law Abiding Biker did a video on a while ago. Looking forward to the other changes you make. Always ride safe!
So for those saddlebag liners and using the RickRak knobs, the knobs should have come with 4 rubber washers that your supposed to use when you use those knobs with a saddlebag liner. Not sure why but my best guess is so the metal isn’t tearing at the liner and trying to make the liner twist.
Also I used that Saddlemen seat lock bolt on my old sportster and wasn’t a huge fan. I’m getting a Corbin seat for my new 24 CVO RG and found a better lock on RickRak. I saw it in a video on SickBaggers channel a while ago but search Robert Becker Design SEAT-LOX on RickRak’s website.
Inside is that harness is basically the same USB-A Bluetooth adapter you had plugged into the USB-C slot in the cubby. Really just makes it so it’s a set it and forget it thing where you can directly plug your phone into the bike for a wired CarPlay connection but having the comm unit bypass.
Tossed both the green and the maehawk units a month ago. They were both unreliable with respect to running CarPlay consistently. I purchased a CarPlay bypass unit from Tim’s Stereo. It plugs in under the seat into any empty unused harness. It’s been 100% reliable.

The only downside is that you must use a factory wired headset for it to activate. I’m not a fan of Bluetooth headsets ($400+) over the factory setup. Good luck and thanks for the videos!
I was told by an hd salesman that a cardo headset must be linked via Bluetooth to get car play to work. Maybe a simple microphone is all that’s needed. What about voice commands? Anyone get that working?
@@raymondgarcia5448 you need a splitter to connect the blue tooth adapter and the other to connect your phone with a cable. also delete your phone from the bikes bluetooth.

I mounted my garage door opener to the underside of the cubby lid. Easy to access as I approach I open door without stopping and ride into the garage.
Great tip thanks
You should check out the Caddysack saddlebag lid tethers. Nice and clean inside the bag lid.
Try original Harley felt liners. There about $210. And form fitted for saddlebags and light years better than Kemo motor junk.

will this work without having the phone physically connected to the bike?
That’s the set up we have 👍🏼 the CarPlay plug under the seat and it works great 👍🏼
how do I get one
After you've connected the phone this way will what happens If you plug your phone in to charge it? Will it try to connect to apple car play?
I have that same exact piece hooked up under my seat for my apple car play. Works great and it’s much more convenient
where did you get it????
Which link are we looking at for the CarPlay solution? I’m a little confused with all of the links you have. Lol.
It’s the phone number to Torque Custom Cycles You could call and order it
I have a 2023 Street Glide. Where did you order the Bluetooth adapter from?
Links were down below in the description or a telephone number to call Mike
Which link is for the apple car play adapter for plug in under the seat ?
I second this question!
Just talked to Mike he is out of them. But to call him back in a week to week and a half to get more. Thanks Mike !!

I had the same problem with my android auto cabled into my 2020 usb, switched to Bluetooth adapter hopefully won't keep kicking me off.
I have the Garage Door Remote with some Velcro on the Cubby Door Right Side....easy to get to when you pull up in front of the Door

great vid👍🏻👍🏻
can u send me the link 2 the apple car play adapter?
thx a lot!!
greetings from munich 😎👍🏻🍺
Great video. I did a similar hook up from a suggestion from Tom In the Friction zone. Also under the seat.. Definitely a better way to go...
Didn't see link for carplay part

where the hell is the link for the apple car play piece?????

please show us how you got that engine info on the screen please
How can I get that LINK to that bluetooth new connector???
Will this work for the 23 standard??
John, will this also work with Android Audio?
Do you have a link for the device and will it work with android auto ?
the phone number in the video description
Hey John where is the link for the part?

Battery Tender Quick Disconnect USB Charger Adapter - Charge Mobile Devices with 12V
Gerbing 12V SAE-to-Male Adapter Cable
Bluetooth 5.0 Car Adapter, BAVNCO Mini Stereo Transmitter Receiver Wireless 3.5mm
You have a bunch of listed products. I cannot see this specific item listed. Anyone know name of it??
Which cell phone holder are you using ??
What is the cost of the Apple CarPlay plug in module?
$100
Awesome
It’s funny you’re bringing this up now because I have had the same thing happening with me lately on my 23’ RG, I have that plug that Pro Monkey and you used but only recently has Apple car play been intermittent..
where do I get the plug???
man your killing me!!!!
What windshield is on your bike?
??
Have same setup and same issue
Dropping connectivity with CarPlay and Android Auto has the same problems. First problem is typically due to a bad sync cable that easily drops data signal. Second is that both CP and AA will drop when handing off from one cell tower to another. Ever drive in the same area on a commute when on a cell phone that always drop calls in the same place? Same concept. Most are getting over the issue with wireless dongles. I use AA with a Motorola wireless adapter and it seems pretty solid. As for the cell tower issue? Not much we can do about that. Sounds like Apple/Google need to tweak their software to be more tolerant of cell signal drops.
I can’t understand why H-D does not make this easier. Everyone has to hack their way to make CarPlay functional.
My 21 Road Glide Limited is fairly simply to activate CarPlay using the wired factory headset with the iPhone plugged into the USB adapter in the right front fairing pocket. It’s bullet proof. The only downside is that you must use a factory wired headset for it to activate. I’m not a fan of Bluetooth headsets ($400+) over the factory setup.
Good luck and thanks for the videos!

bluetooth kicks me out all the time, ran it wired and never disconnected again.
How did you do that I can’t figure it out I’m getting kicked off Bluetooth all the time

It’s B.S., you should get apple car-play without having to circumvent. Always the buck with Harley.
It’s not Harley
It’s Apple requiring the headset idea to prevent distracted driving.
I got one on amazon!!!!no thanks to y'all !!!!
What’s the name of the piece
What's the amazon link?
looks like HD is awkward with technology
John , why did my comment get deleted?
Video is Not very helpful and just an infomercial
I tried this junk you recommended three weeks ago. it didn’t work and I called you out on it.
Calm down it’s ok
