  • The first dry spell since winter was a good opportunity to get out the DK2 OPC533 wood chipper and clean up the massive amounts of fallen branches and trees while also tending to some trails and camp sites.
    After a couple of years as steward of my property, trail maintenance is slowly becoming a routine.
    For the first look and review video all about this chipper go here:

    Mahalo for posting this video! I just got my hands on one at Lowes here on Maui😊. Looking forward to adding some organic matter onto some very loamy soil on our property…🤙🏽

      Glad you found it useful, and congrats on getting the chipper. Check out Charles Dowding’s very informative video on how to break down wood chips the get the best out of them to improve your soil: th-cam.com/video/qhBvEG_Pg8Y/w-d-xo.html

    Great video. It's exactly the machine that I've been looking for too. You've inspired me to try doing a video of a job I have coming up.

      All my jams can't be accessed from the hinged door but I appreciate your replies

      @MakingLifeChanges Yeah I don’t know what’s going on. I read your other post too. I know what you mean about the last little chunk being tricky, and I recall either stopping prior to that point (and just tossing the stub on a firewood pile) or pushing it into the blade with another branch to finish it off. I wonder… what kind of wood are you chipping? And is it fresh or dry?

      @@lumberingshenanigansthey were very dry been sitting outside many months and all oak wood. Today I ran the chipper for several hours and had no problem but I didn't let any piece over 2 in go into the shoot by itself I just pulled back each time and when it got to the point of letting it go into the shoot I just pulled it out and put it in the woodpile but all the small pieces 2 inches or less went right into the chute no problem

      @MakingLifeChanges Oh, yeah, seasoned oak will definitely be a challenge for a chipper. I’d say what you’re doing now is the right move. Save the bigger stuff for the fire pit. Ugh I wish I had some oaks. Glad it’s working for you now.

    How are you liking the wood chipper I have had my eye on this one for sometime now and haven’t pulled the trigger.

      I still like it after the first year. I did a full review (and a little update in the description) if you want a deeper dive: DK2 3” Wood Chipper Review & First Look (OPC533)
      th-cam.com/video/cVLuDxxOrTw/w-d-xo.html - but basically I think it’s a solid option for the money, and for a non-pro user like me. Thanks for watching! :)

      I just got this chipper and jam 3x where I had to take it apart. Did you learn easier way?

    • @lumberingshenanigans
      @lumberingshenanigans  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @MakingLifeChanges Take it apart? I’m not sure I’ve had to take it apart, only had to open the access door once or twice if I over-feed it. I answered your other post in more depth on my other chipper video.

    Nice so what are the wood chips good for on the walking trail

      They help keep the trails clear of new growth a tiny bit, but mostly I like the look of it. In this truly wild forest environment the trails can disappear quite quickly, so any visual indication is a bonus for anyone but me. Thanks for watching. :)
