  • For years, Bournemouth have been the butt of many jokes with regards to the size of the Vitality Stadium, but in interviews today, owner Bill Foley has confirmed the approximate timescales for a NEW build, which would see an increased capacity, increased hospitality, and the possibility for expansion.
    In this video, Sam and Tom discuss where it will be, when it will happen, whether the increase is enough, as well as the other talking points that emanates from his interviews on Talksport and BBC Sounds.

      I’m old enough to remember Man City feat Colin Bell & Francis Lee along with a young Gary Flitcroft getting seriously bollocked by an ancient Peter Reid after a goal line mistake ( dunno why that stuck with me )& being B’mouth supporter meant always expecting to leave Bristol City , Reading , southampton, Brighton, even Swindon Town without a point andso it’s wonderful to now be hanging in there with teams & fans of successful clubs full of encouragement & goodwill ( maybe not all towards Old Trafford ) so Thankyou 😁👍ps still can’t win at Brighton…

Fingers crossed a new stadium will bring further success

      Honestly I thought or expected they'd aim for 30k considering Bournemouth is a large urban area with a fairly large reach into the surroundings so the potential would be totally there. Now I'm absolutely not in the english football scene and don't know Bournemouths fanbase, but to me 30k really seemed feasible and easy to fill - most PL clubs have too small stadiums judging by the spectator stats. Every single one could fill a bigger stadium.

    • @daveseville7394
      @daveseville7394 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@avior2951 they'd kill atmosphere if it was anymore than 20k as a neutral. Look at Southampton when they moved to St Mary's, their atmosphere is dead as their ground is to big for them. If it was a 30k stadium and Bournemouth went down they wouldnt sell out in championship

    • @avior2951
      @avior2951 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@daveseville7394 Sorry for the late reply, that sounds really unfortunate for Southampton, and for me as a german also really unexpected, because the stadiums of that size usually have some of the best athmospheres as they're not too big for the acoustics to become bad and too many people not singing, nor too small for the ticket demand. Would it be problematic if they wouldn't sell out in the the Championship? I personally feel like thats ok as long as theyre not running half empty and still have enough reserve when there are special games going on, derbies and such.

    Those available seats at the Villa game (or any other game) were either in the family zone (where unless you borrow someone's children you can't actually go there) or there are a handful of single seats spread in different corners of the ground which makes it difficult for fans go along with their mates. The "lack of demand" is a untrue, we would easily fill a 18.5k seater stadium, whether that's in the Prem or Championship.

    Thanks for jumping on the VLOG so quickly. Sounds great. Couple of things immediately sprang to mind for me. What's happening with the athletics stadium? And what about planning permission? I assume based on previous comments that in order to get planning permission we need to provide a new athletics stadium. Not seen anything about this recently. And I imagine that the planning permission request will have to go in soon. I think starting work on it in 2025 sounds quite optimistic.

      Good question. My assumption would be along the lines we'd probably knock down all but one stand of DC and then re-build the athletics track on the pitch, as I believe there is a stipulation that it must be relocated, and similarly, the land currently occupied by DC must be retained as open/sporting space, and cannot be built on by any developments etc - so this, to me, would make natural sense.

We have real problems in expanding the Amex at just over 32000 the ground is just not big enough now never mind moving forward. We sell out over 99 percent of the time and the fan base grows not year by year but month by month. I live in Thailand and they sell Brighton kits on the streets of Bangkok! We are now in an European quarter final and at the moment the sky is the limit apart from the ground capacity which will hold us back in the future

      Have you ever been to Cardiff City? They can’t fill their ground 33,000. Or Saints 32,000 often loads of empty seats. In the Championship we couldn’t give tickets away - it’s very difficult to get capacity right. I would have thought 20,000. Anyway brilliant news for the Club 🍒🍒

      @@afcbpodcast ffp is not a problem for the cherries. i think the owners haven't taken into account the potential fan base as appose to what you have now , and building a stadium with 18,500 and currently at just over 11,000 so low too me sees a lack of ambition on a match experience seeing especially the millions they are spending on the training facility complex. as you know im a saints fan, you guys could easily get 30,000 on match day - bournemouth has a great pull and catchment area - it seems they want corporate people and boxes and not true fans on seats. st marys dosent have huge corporate but was more built in 2001 based on fans on seats. the world has changed but im sure you would get more than 18,500 - good luck for the rest of the season.
