That's the best-sounding track I've ever heard with the Rhythm Wolf. Same goes for your Timbre/Rhythm Wolf track. I own the RW and the Tom Cat. I think they're both respectable machines, and as you say, certainly worth the asking price. Cheers.
I agree, I just picked up one of these second hand and it is a blast and I haven't even ran it through effects yet. I can't figure out the haters on this wee unit.
Through decent reverb and delay it's a whole different animal 😁 I think a lot of the hate comes from the tuning issues on the bass synth but its no biggie as far as I'm concerned. Overall a great instrument 👍
The thing that a lot of people don't get is the bass synth transmits on a different midi channel so you can send some of the sequence data to something like a Moog Minitaur or Dreadbox Hades. That really confuses people if you keep the other bass synth out of sight. The same is also true of the Tomcat. The toms channel is separate to the rest of the midi stuff and covers a wider range of notes than the bass synth on the Wolf.
@korg360 thanks for sharing. I love my Rhythm Wolf... seems like the latest firmware update has fixed the tuning on the synth... and I use the MIDI OUT to control other synths. So, even with it's "limitations" it's still plenty useful. The separate audio outs for the drums and synth is really great too... I run my drums through an analog delay pedal, and oh boy is that nice.
I really really suspect this machine will be used for good stuff now that it has been forgotten by the people who seem to judge everything on the awful commercial introduction videos all music companies make. As if you could deducty anything useful from an unboxing-video of some guy pressing buttons a little bit randomly. Or like "oh my god this piece ofg shit hardware sounds NOTHING like a studio album I like"
How do you record and make your tunes so ambient? I'm trying to start my own TH-cam channel about techno and I'm just so confused with recording... please write back.
From a literal recording point of view, I use a Zoom R16 mixer/recorder/interface, and that has built in effects which always add an extra dimension to any recording. So, if you are looking for ambience, I would suggest thinking about adding effects 👍
Can do a video with line out showing only the drums tuned to 808 and 909 style sounds? Use the Tom Cat before...wondering if the rhythm wolf got such a bad reputation because it was going up against the VOLCA BASS on the bassline side of things. Thanks in advance!
I've really been struggling to get great sounding basslines from mine since I bought it, this has provided such inspiration and hope! I wonder you could be candid enough to share the note sequence you used for this video? It's incredible!
Many thanks for watching. I've long since overwritten this particular riff but I'll try to recreate it for you and let you know how it was composed. Thanks again.
@Julian. Sorry for the delay. The pattern is really very simple. You will place a note on every one of the 16 steps. The first note will be C0, the second C1 and the third C2. You repeat this for steps 4 thro 6, 7 thro 9, 10 thro 12, 13 thro 15 and the final step will be C0 again. Set a suitable tempo (I had 120bpm), add in your drums and mangle away at the bass synth pots :-) Hope that helps.
I have to say that I don't think watching this on youtube really shows what the kick is like, it's really low. I run my gear through guitar amps and it really shakes the house.
I agree completely. Its very difficult to get it over in an audio mix. Hearing it in the flesh gives you the full power that it puts out 😎 Many thanks for watching 👍😉
No howl used on this piece. The 'noise' was all generated by a cheap mixers effects and probably a poor audio connection between the mixer and camcorder. However, when overused, I will agree that the howl can be noisy 😉
The kick is REALLY deep. You need a good sub to appreciate it. However, much like the whole machine, it does have its sonic limitations, but once you get passed those, its a ton of fun. Thanks for watching.
Those who can embrace limitations and get the best out of something do. Those who can't, or, worse still, just too lazy to think, criticise.
cope.
yes its called coping with making a bad purchase.

Thanks again ! The Tom Cat is on my wish-list :-) I think it will make my Akai set-up complete and add a slightly different rhythm flavour :-)
The Rhythm Wolf well used, good stuff!
Yence505. Thanks 👍😉
in the end it's what you make out of those machines
me, i made 80 bucks back. sell it.

Maybe because the sound generators are severely limited and, suck?
I donno, I have seen/heard people create some wild stuff with old limited gear. Some people see limits, others see possiblities I guess.
+cyanidetube Succinctly put 😁👍
for me, limits inspire creativity :)

yes and its only 3 octaves.

Thanks for watching. I was not even aware of a firmware update. I'll check that out ;-)
I have both of these drum machines the tomcat and the rhythm wolf and I love both of them ...two bad ass analog drum machines!!
I could not agree more :-) Thanks for watching.
I own this and the tomcat.. 2 of the baddest analog drum machines ever made! 👍🏽
I never got around to owning a TomCat. I always wanted one but just never got around to it. Both great machines though 🙂. Thanks for watching 👍
ooof... bruh...

Markus Samnell. I agree. A very simple but underrated machine. I'm in no rush to offload mine 😉
Totally agree! I love mine!
Excellent use of the Wolf! 😎👍🏼
Many thanks for watching 👍😉
You know what I HATE about the Rhythm Wolf.........Now that I've got one, I want the Tom Cat and Timbre Wolf as well.
😁 I'm still on the hunt for a TomCat myself 😁
@@Krog360
Do an ebBay search and then save it, and you will get daily updates for that item.......My life would come to an end without eBay.
@@Bishka100 I'm not the world's biggest eBay fan, and so I guess that I might have to accept that a TomCat will never make my collection 😢
@@Krog360
There is one on eBay at the moment in the US ( if you want to take alook)...I'm in the UK so it's not worth me getting it.
@@Bishka100 Thanks 👍😉
i love having limitation , makes me more productive
I couldn't agree more 😉 Thanks for watching 👍

Many thanks for watching. Glad to hear that you enjoy your RW 👍😉

Its the noise level that sucks making the unit useless IMO. The sounds rock, but the howl circuit is ridiculous

This machine looks like tons of fun. I just cant get passed the poor sound of the kick though.
