- Let's go in-depth with the new CLA35 AMG! This is Mercedes-Benz's new entry-level AMG product in the USA. It has a 2.0L 4 cylinder engine making 302 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. Going to all 4 wheels through a dual-clutch automatic, this little AMG has plenty of grunt and enough luxury to make things interesting. Would you buy this over an Audi S3, Mini Clubman JCW, or the BMW M235i Gran Coupe?

Wow! You killed it with this review, Forrest!!! 🔥 That yellow color really POPS and honestly it seems like a rather robust and solid little sedan... The price seems a bit on the high side, but I guess the pricing is not too out of the ordinary compared to its competitors.
Also, is was funny how you had to avoid saying "Mercedes". Hahaha! Excellent job, Forrest!!! 👍🏼

LOVE LOVE LOVE THE COLOR ! Being that 99% of ALL MB autos are any shade of black, grey or silver, this is quite refreshing ! Anyway, how were the noise levels ? Lexus like or...? I built one & I came out at $51k

Love the video. I placed an order for this one back in February and it's due for delivery in a few weeks. A lot of things depend on the options. The one reviewed didn't include the AMG Driver's Package (upgraded steering wheel with drive unit controls and the upgraded suspension). I'd recommend someone take this and drop the driver's assistance package.
This car isn't cheap. I do think there's a lot of value for the money though. The Audi and BMW are absolutely the direct competition. It came down to looks (interior and exterior) for me. I prefer how the CLA 35 looks. Where AMG zealots raise valid concerns is the 35's engine is not hand built. It's machine built like most mass production cars. I didn't see enough value to drop about $10k to jump up to the CLA 45, which has the hand built engine and some other track-centric upgrades.
Everyone has their own opinions about which brand makes a better "affordable" moderate-performance, semi-luxury, and fun daily driver. While $60k is a lot, there's not many options in this price range (no a Mini doesn't fit into this class LOL) for someone looking for more luxury and still have power. There are plenty of less expensive cars out there that do a good job. They're not Merc's, Audi's, or BMW's though. Anyone wanting those badges without paying near 6-figures will be happy with any of the options. For me, the AMG had the best all around appeal. The bells and whistles inside the AMG cabin were what finally sold me on it.
Im planning to pick one up as a used car in like 2-3 years, currently the used car market is so inflated that you pay close to retail for a 50k km, 1-2 year old car. Its insane.
60k for a cla 35 is a bit overpriced u might as well get the c63 which has better performance for the same deal or get a is350 f for less.

I'm not completely sold on Mercedes newer design directions, but it somehow works really well w these bright colors. Definitely a new move for Mercedes

The car is fabulous; the review well, not AMG. BTW, in its class the CLA 35 has the most hp (Bmw 2 series G.C., Audi S3) . The stiff ride is you're driving in sport plus, not wise (Comfort mode). Also, the gem of this car is the engine and you did not do it right. Plus you missed the brakes or suspension and strut brace.

Nice review. I think the fully loaded price (I still don't see the cooled seats option) of $61k is just insane and unacceptable especially when u look at cars like Genesis G70, model 3 performance etc....
Agreed! But insecure folks just have to have that MB badge when they’re at brunch with their friends and family 🙄🙄 ! I would happily get a G70 over this and have my 🍑 on 🧊 during the hot summer months and save $15k

sai prabhakar atluri , the G70 will probably get a facelift at the end of this yr but it’s def an awesome car especially in that Siberian Ice or Havana Red ! Just built an A35 and they do indeed have ventilated seats as a $1,030 option !

Is the M340 not a competitor of this even though it would smoke this AMG? Was thinking in comparison to size and both on the sport lines. I guess it’s a lot smaller than it looks if S3 is in it too. And as I’m typing you’re prob putting more comparison value on engine lol
The cheapest way to get into an amg is buying the a35/a35 sedan. Also this cla can’t be complete or judged without the aero pack makes it look like a mini gt

The bugs are attracted to the bright yellow because to them it looks green. Just imagine taking that on a long trip. Impossible to clean!

I think that white and black color choice only comes in fake leather or MB-Tex. It is still a pretty good material but i wouldn't want it on a $60,000 car.
The car is proper; the review well, not AMG. The stiff ride is you're driving in sport plus. Also, the gem of this car is the engine, brakes, suspension, and strut tower bracing. Plus, why do you need to touch the screen you have "Hey Mercedes".
It doesn't make sense to pay $60k for this. A C43 can be had for less than this, the 2020 AMG C43 are also currently at least 15% discounted from MSRP as well, so technically a lot lower than this. It's a faster car, nicer interior, AMAZING exhaust, etc.
Again, you're comparing a fully loaded AMG CLA 35 with base C43. Base price of the AMG CLA 35, $46,900. Base price of the AMG C43, $55,950. Look it up.
@@TorgoLives I'm talking about THIS specific car. I don't need to look it up, I own a C43. Did you not read where I said the C43 is discounted 15% as well? That literally puts it at $46k. The CLA35 is way too expensive for what it offers. The base C43 still offers more car than a base A35 even if you look at it that way.

This car is not worth it for the price. I have a C43 AMG and it was $57k out the door for me. The interior is better in terms of design and quality of materials. There is more room. There's more power. The sound is amazing with the factory AMG Performance Exhaust. I just can't justify the A35 for $60k.
The 2021 C43 is $56700 before taxes, BASE with NO options (just checked). This car is almost fully loaded, That's the difference.
After test driving both, I disagree. The c43 is showing its age compared to the current AMG CLA’s. I initially thought the 80 plus horsepower was going to make a huge difference, but the c43 just felt a lot heavier and dated. Sure, on the top end, the c43 has more juice, but the cla just felt a lot lighter. Plus the Current CLA cabin in just much more luxurious then the current c43. I’m sure the next gen C-class AMG’s are going to blow the current CLA’s out of the water, but currently, theres not that much of a gap.
@@fabiangomez4645 The current A class interior looks more modern, yes, but it is definitely not more luxurious. If you look and touch the actual materials, there are more plastic and wherever there are leather, it is thinner than the one in the C43.
To the other person posting about price, the C43 is discounted anywhere between 15 to 18%. A $55k CLA45 leases for around $900 a month while a $68k C43 leases for $570 a month. Dealerships give a lot of incentives to move the non updated C43 compared to the new CLA 45. You have to keep that in mind and not just compare MSRP.
One more thing to keep in mind. The US does not get the CLA 45 S is much more expensive than the CLA 45. Then also as you get the higher end trims, there are practically none on the lot that has just the base options. Dealerships usually option higher trims out so even though you can get a base CLA 250, it's harder to find a base CLA 35 and even harder to find a base CLA 45.
In terms of performance, the C43 claims 4.5 seconds on the website but that's because the C43 does not have launch control. Myself and many others on the forums have gotten 4.1 second to 4.3 seconds brake boosting it, so it's quite powerful. We've ran against other CLA45 and without brake boosting at all, the C43 will pull ahead in a straight line. Yes, the CLA 45 has better driving dynamics because it's lighter so that is a win for the CLA there. However, the sounds in the CLA is mostly pumped in. It doesn't sound that good at all outside compared to the C43.
@@BN99239 I went in convinced the C43 was going to be the superior car, but it wasn’t. Further, in the current market, dealers aren’t marking down the C43 15-18%. The C43 was still coming in at about 58,xxx, and a coupe that was optioned to the gills was at 73k.
Even the employees at the lot were claiming the current C43 was showing it’s age compared to the newer AMG models. I’m not saying it’s a bad car. But the current transmission it has really holds it back, compared to the current AMG CLA.
As I said, I was convinced the C43 was going to be the superior car, but it truly wasn’t. I spend a good amount of time in both cabins and vastly preferred the interior and exterior of the CLA’s.
To anyone else looking at this thread I encourage everyone to just test drive both cars to see the difference.
@@fabiangomez4645 Yeah, I guess that is where our opinions differ. I test drove both in 2020 and got the C43 because it was the superior car for me and a lot cheaper to lease, I guess it's different this year due to chip shortage and prices going up on everything. The CLA in the states have the ugly bumpers that stick out due to regulations as well. I do agree with the transmission in the C43 not being anywhere near as smooth and snappy as the CLA though. I personally like the exterior and interior design of the C43 better. I got the sedan though, as the coupe looks like it's trying too hard.
