I just created a Cele Catalyst. I'm a returning player and very behind in knowledge but I noticed something important about Cele. The numbers add up to a lot of stats per piece. With that I figured it should be better if you truly utilize all four attunements. I intentionally looked for a swiss army knife kind of build for roaming in WvW and remember liking Elementa list playstyle. That said, I don't care what people play. Just play what you like. I can't imagine being upset since, like you said, you didn't invent Cele. Not everyone would enjoy the jack of all trades style anyway. Let someone else play a high stealth glass cannon and that's cool too. There's different ways to win. Another thing is I'm just in pve atm feeling it out now. I could be terrible as a roamer but in pve I'm fighting Champions with this pvp build so that's a good start. I realize though that roaming WvW is probably less friendly. We'll see.

I used to run a similar build like this back in vanilla gw2 , d/d ele was much simplified back then but i could outlast and beat anyone in a 1v1 , this brings a tear to my eye to see this build fully expanded and still one of the best 12 years later. Thank you for this masterclass !

Can anyone really get this good with practice and sticking to the build? I feel like there's some natural talent that can't be replicated. Your situational awareness and response are so good.
You can yes, I am not that good, there are players way better than me, my style is more reactive and improvised, you need muscle memory so you can automatically use the skills you need and remember a few combos or sequences of actions. Helps if you can get a gaming mouse, for classes like elemenalist helped me a lot to have a few side buttons in mouse for easy reach. But one important thing that most people don't understand, you need game knowledge, I know when to dodge or avoid some enemy class damage, because I know what they can do, I played them all. You don't need to main everyclass but you need to play them for a while at least and recognize what they can do to you. I've been having a lot of fun with Cele D/D Cata. It's even a blast in zerg fights where you can go balls deep on the enemy and disrupt them and get out safely.
Ele always seemed like such a solid pick as an all-rounder class, but the piano gameplay is still intimdating lol. Hope i get used to it when i try it out

Jen, I'm looking to return to GW2 after about a 1.5 year break. Can you do an updated Cele Harbinger guide please? Your guides have always been top tier.
You know, I had plans to play and even make content about it, I was already preparing the website for guides and such, but then after playing the beta I got really dissapointed. The combat just feels bad, but besides that, there are many systems in the game that doesn't make sense, like the scheduled events once per day, and limited by server timezones, it's just bad and clearly an unfinished game. Since they removed the autoplay from the previous closed beta it feels they are just trying to overwrite the game with new changes, but it still have structural issues. I saw people saying the combat gets better after max level and I tried myself too, but it doesn't get THAT much better and there's no reason why you would want to endure all the way up to that. You can't swing your sword without a target, so it just feel bad especially after you experience guild wars 2 combat. The animations are forced and clunky, the game will require a lot of time with rework and I am not interested in carrying another game until it gets good, so best wishes for people who enjoy it.

Hey, we have roamers for all timezones but mostly NA timezone, you are welcome to join and try, send me mail and I give you an invite. I play random times, sometimes even in the mornings, and the weekends I usually binge so might be at weird times too, it depends on the matchup activity too, but yea always more fun to share world with other roamers than zergs :D

Nah thats normal, nobody really plays alone anymore except streamers or content creators, and if they do it’s just for short periods of time like for a daily. Playing alone is a choice and means you should be already prepared to fight outnumbered.

It's because this game have one of the best combat system in all mmos, it takes a while to get used if you come from tab target classic games but once you manage to control the camera and positioning it feels good.

Daggers and Cata plays so well with each other
I've been having a lot of fun with Cele D/D Cata. It's even a blast in zerg fights where you can go balls deep on the enemy and disrupt them and get out safely.
CELE can be really tanky imo, dps lacking. But winning a fight is a diff story your goated!💯

fa weaver or catalyst? and why? i ve never tried cata b4 but i ve heard its tankier
Fresh Air Weaver is more burst, while Catalyst is more sustained damage. Weaver is too squishy, Catalyst has way more survival.
Can a cele berserker even beat these ele builds reliably or am I just a shitter? I needed a friend to take one down and it took literally forever
Confusion is one of the biggest ele weakness so you can for sure with mace
