I like AEW but the fans are really gross. I went to a show recently and was shocked by the number of neckbeards. There were very few families with children at the shows.
Wow, this is one of the realest, truest wrestling videos I’ve ever seen or heard. To me, they hit the bullseye on what’s wrong with wrestling. Even the guy’s email about Scott Hall was spot on. The Meltzer marks have hijacked the crowds, and the wrestling companies started pandering to them. And now, we have a form of wrestling that’s closer to Cirque Du Soleil than wrestling. I was hoping AEW wouldn’t go there, but they have. I commented on one of their group pages, and suggested that they cut their match times in half, because thats WAYYY too long for casual fans. It got DELETED by a pussy ass admin who couldn’t face the truth! Right now, the NWA is the best product.
Russo has a new burner account it seems. I was told the Young Bucks are the new better Rock & Roll Express. Idiotic. Why because they wear bright colors & tattered pants? Kinda like putting a street whore in a ballroom gown & referring to her as a classy entrepreneur.
it's simple, there was sex appeal back then, the every day consumer sees hot chicks in ho train, they cheer, but sponsors dont want that, sponsors want child friendly humor like getting sprayed by green slime
Part of it is probably also the fact that the people wrestling todaygrew up in a different time then the wrestlers of the attitude era in before. They were tough as nails take no crapdudes, most of them had probably been in at least one real fight if not several in their lives and knew how to throw a punch. A lot of the guys wrestling today as disco always says do not know how to throwa punch or what it's like to be in a real fight much less make a fake one look real
I definitely agree with what that guy said about chants. "you deserve it! " "this is awesome" or my most hated one, "what? " "what? " "what? " "what? " "what? " they're fine the first few times but, Christ! BTW Disco... "you deserve it" da da da da da "you deserve it" da da da da da "you deserve it"
you know why they do it? because they're nerds. In real life they likely don't talk or socialise, yet at wrestling shows they stand there with their title belt toys and yell at the wrestlers.
@@KeepinIt100OFFICIAL I get that. I'm a nerd too. But, if I was at a wrestling event, even though I would be excited to be there, I'd be silent. Lol "what" is the hurricane of shitzzzzz
Jimmy Foppiano I trinkbits fair to say we are all a bit nerdy one way or the other. I for instance am a massive lifelong fan of classic dr who. But I’d never dress up or take whatever is in my collection out to some event or even out the front door. We all know the lads with toy belts are fans we don’t need to see how big AND how sad a fan they are
Back in the 80s they would recruit wrestlers from Gyms, Clubs etc etc ... today. The nerdy wrestling fans are the wrestlers. And they interjected their nerdiness into the product. Back in the day wrestlers went on week long benders is over. Now wrestlers don't drink or do drugs. And they go to Comic conventions and play video games. Different times. Different fans. Different wrestlers. I blame Chris Jericho, Eddie Guerrero, Dean Malenko, the Hardy's, Rey Mysterio and . Back in the early to mid 2000s. They showed the smaller fans that size does not matter. And underdogs can prevail. They appealed to the younger generation. And it is those fans that are wrestling today.
@@KeepinIt100OFFICIAL fans are different today. I remember 7 or 8 years ago discussing back in TNA when Kurt Angle and Jeff Jarett had the parking lot fight. I mentioned how realistic it looked and that wrestling needs more of it only to be attacked by younger fans. They called me a savage and barbaric for liking the fight. That is when I realized the attitude the fans have changed for the worse. I was in my early 20s during the attitude era. But talking to younger fans. A lot of them are disgusted by that era. Yet they put guys like Foley, Steve Austin, the Rock etc on a pedistal. Fans today make absolutely no sense Today. They like flipping, spinning and dancing. They seem to not like actual violence. Yet the whole premise of wrestling is simulated violence.
My assumption of the difference is a "Smark" is someone who is all over social media and tries to come off like they know it all about Pro Wrestling just because they read the dirt sheets online. While a "Big fan" stays away from that stuff and just watches on TV and attends an event here and there?

The fans now are the worst. Notice how there are hardly any women in the crowd now ? Just a bunch of nerds chanting “this is awesome” or “holy shit”. If it weren’t for Jericho , Moxley and MJF I wouldn’t watch
I'm a 35 year watcher and over the last 3-5 years, it doesn't bother me a bit to miss wrestling. The fans ruined it for me more than anything. As a kid, we watched whatever we could. From WWF, AWA, NWA (multiple territories), could even get Montreal and the Canadian Maritimes every so often. I was very excited for AEW, then the Jericho vs Allin Philly Street Fight happened. Street fights are no DQ, correct??? So why the hell were there rope breaks??? If I hold the ropes past the 5 count in a street fight, what's the ref gonna do??? Maybe I'm just old and senile now, but can anybody dumb this down for me??? That single stip lost me. I will say I'm enjoying NWA Power. In a time where fans could be eating up so much different wrestling, it feels like wrestling has lost it's edge.
I have a question for konan. Why can’t you get LUCHA libra or AAA on the CW network? Their primarily about teen drama and superhero’s and supernatural shows. Mexican Wrestling would fit in perfect. Masks gimmicks and all.
In the 90s and 2000 the 18-35 demo was widely people who were pissed off with everything. That’s who they geared the program to, now that demo just want to go out and have fun. Feel apart of the show and see athletic stuff we know we can’t do. A bank shot from the elbow won’t get fans popping (body slam), but a dunk over a guy from the free throw line would (standing shooting star).
But if everyone is able to dunk from the free throw line then it wouldnt be deemed special anymore. In wrestling, the superkick was a move only done by a handful of people. Now, damn near 80% of the business does a form of a superkick and its not even lethal anymore. So what pop is there to get when everyone does the same shit? No distinction whatsoever.
Tyler Riggins I understand, but every sport evolves, why are wrestling fans the only ones who can’t see that. Offense in football had to get more creative, same as basketball, soccer and even wrestling.
Here's the problem with this whole thing. It's the fans who made it this way. I'll list the things that cause such decline. Here we go. 1- social media. This includes dirt sheets, spoiler crap etc. 2- Fans THINKING they know the business and follow issue number 1 instead of enjoying there show. 3- Fans wanting to see past stars in hopeful dream matches then complain when they don't happen. 4- Due to issue 3, it causes a delay in character development because the focus is still on the past. 5- Society has changed and many of the things that made it entertaining 20 years ago will not fly today, yet the company tries to give a taste. 6- Fans Are now entertained ONLY by the stupidity (dick slams and guys who doesn't use his hands much) and the millions of high spots instead of actual wrestling moves that tell a story. 7- Due to issue 6, it's hard to write something decent when if they don't add dives and flips fans begin chanting PAST stars who no longer work there or now the rival company. 8- The company NEVER having a real off-season like other sports but have continued with a draft???. 9- Due to issue 8, it would be expected to see newer faces shine and develop into future stars but again fans want who they want which alters the future of the potential future stars. Don't believe me who's merch sells the most? Why are they selling the most? You want it, demand it in merch sales and somewhat of interest leaving the other guys in the back. These things are exactly what has caused the industry to decline. If you think two former world champions and a few mid card guys will truly be competition, you might as well add ROH, Evolve, MLW to that list because without them, the "rival" company will be no different than the past where they had blank checks and still couldn't take WWE down.
The fact that there is so much women's wrestling is what's wrong with wrestling today, Bailey is one of the worst characters I've ever seen... I don't hate her because of heat, I hate her because she sucks and over acts everything!
LMAO, the last show I went to was WrestleMania 32 in 2016, and before that it was New Years Revolution in 2007. It's definitely a different Climate in Pro Wrestling. I watch mostly all Older Content. I also watch clips here and there. I'll watch a WWE PPV if a specific Program catches my attention. I am mostly a Royal Rumble, Mania, SummerSlam type of viewer. I still watch wrestling it's just not the current product. It's older stuff
Not sure this was phrased correctly. I don’t think pro wrestling was ever “cool”. Most of the fans, even during the boom periods, weren’t cool people or didn’t really associate with pro wrestling outside of pro wrestling circles. It’s not like kids were wearing NWO and Austin 3:16 t-shirts in the halls of high school. Pro wrestling was cool in the same way that Pokémon was cool.
@@KeepinIt100OFFICIAL I was born in 86 and started watching wrestling when I was 7. You do the math sir lol Kids that rocked wrestling shirts were not cool in the 90's. They got picked on by the jocks because they were in to fantasy shit.
I was always a wrestling nerd but when the NWO started all my friends that were too cool for wrestling started watching every week. Not kids grown men in their 20's, we would go to the bar to watch PPV and they would be packed to watch wrestling.
Why it isn’t cool anymore? That’s easy. There are no interesting characters at all or the storylines that brings the viewers in. All the babyfaces are smiling and just happy to be there and put on acrobatic performances while all the heels are all snarling PG mean guys/girls who hate the fans for ? Reason. That’s not compelling TV.
Here's why wrestling isn't cool anymore. 1. No more bra and panties matches 2. PG sucks 3. Vanilla characters 4. Predictable finishes 5. Titles being put on wrestlers that aren't world championship material 6. Lame finishers
PG does suck and as a female fan for many years, Bra and Panties is overblown. I'd rather watch Sherri Martel than basic chicks who look like they work at your local panty/booty/chicken wing sports bar.
Yes from 85-91 it was very cool then again from 96-01 it was even bigger and more mainstream. When I was in high school EVERYONE watched and lots of people wore wrestling T-shirts to school. Something you would never see today.
I don't agree with everything said, but I do think more wrestlers to day need to focus more on their promos and creating a captivating character and concentrate less on moves. The most over guys in wrestling today are character driven.
I grew up watching wrestling in 90s looking at roided up freaks coked out of their minds . Larger than life characters. Now they are like comic book reading dorks . And do people actually lift weights any more??
Kenny omega is the only one with potential to be a big star. He could’ve legit been the next Jericho in wwe imo. Now hes just floundering around in aew with the knuckeheads and bleach blonde hair guy.

@Steve Borden Well I like some of the wrestlers on the show, but I cannot stand the Young Bucks, I just glare at the screen anytime they are on it.
William Munny deleted? how lame.
Sounds like old men saying music back in my day was real music
Why don’t wwe or aew make a product that appeals to the casual fan? They don’t know how. Only reason wwe appealed in the 90s was Russo wrote the show
Russo has a new burner account it seems.
I was told the Young Bucks are the new better Rock & Roll Express. Idiotic. Why because they wear bright colors & tattered pants? Kinda like putting a street whore in a ballroom gown & referring to her as a classy entrepreneur.
WWE attracts casual fans.... is just that they tend to not come back.

@@JohnKobaRuddy ain't nothing wrong with Dr. Who! I love nerdy shit too.
I think the only problem with AEW is they don't have too many guys who can cut good promos. Cody, Moxley, Jericho, & MJF are the only ones
*CHRIS BENOIT*
what I don't get is how so many Marks can be fans of a physical worked sport yet never think of actually working out themselves.
Fans today make absolutely no sense

I'm curious what's the difference between a smark and a big fan?
My assumption of the difference is a "Smark" is someone who is all over social media and tries to come off like they know it all about Pro Wrestling just because they read the dirt sheets online. While a "Big fan" stays away from that stuff and just watches on TV and attends an event here and there?
The way they look, a smark will look like a fat neckbeard with a Young Bucks shirt.

there are MANY reasons why it's not cool, but let's start on the surface. why are the fashions and music in wrestling stuck in 1998?
I stopped watching wrestling after WCW and ECW closed, I’d check it out but not watching watching, I can honestly say Dynamite is the first time in over 15yrs I’ve watched wrestling live, and the whole show, they’re killing it right now.. #TYJericho

I think here in Charleston, WV was the first AEW show where a good amount of people boo'ed Jericho and chanted "you suck" to him
Jericho doesnt suck he is just playing to the crowd he is given.. I mean we have seen his earlier work and mic skills. I think jericho just wants to mess around and do what ever he wants and maybe even show these aew ppl that talent is talent
@@chrisortiz8072 I'm just saying not every AEW crowd has cheered every single thing AEW does. I didn't think Jericho would get booed here, but I'm glad it happened, I hope it make Jericho want to come back
The fans now are the worst. Notice how there are hardly any women in the crowd now ? Just a bunch of nerds chanting “this is awesome” or “holy shit”. If it weren’t for Jericho , Moxley and MJF I wouldn’t watch
Do you like morning or evening constitutionals?
In a time where fans could be eating up so much different wrestling, it feels like wrestling has lost it's edge.

i haven't watched a full TV show in maybe 11 years
I have a question for konan. Why can’t you get LUCHA libra or AAA on the CW network? Their primarily about teen drama and superhero’s and supernatural shows. Mexican Wrestling would fit in perfect. Masks gimmicks and all.

it's so true people don't cheer or boo they still sometimes throw shit but wrestling has not been hot since the Monday night wars.
coz the nerds have taken over
The nerds were always there, is just the casuals moved on years ago.
As awkward as that porn analogy was, it’s basically spot on.
Thank you, Disco. Great analogy.
If you think two former world champions and a few mid card guys will truly be competition, you might as well add ROH, Evolve, MLW to that list because without them, the "rival" company will be no different than the past where they had blank checks and still couldn't take WWE down.
dirt sheets have been proven to be full of lies over and over again YET Marks keep going back to them as a news source.

All the babyfaces are smiling and just happy to be there and put on acrobatic performances while all the heels are all snarling PG mean guys/girls who hate the fans for ? Reason. That’s not compelling TV.
Here's why wrestling isn't cool anymore.
1. No more bra and panties matches
2. PG sucks
3. Vanilla characters
4. Predictable finishes
5. Titles being put on wrestlers that aren't world championship material
6. Lame finishers
I agree with all of them but 1, the oversexualisation of women was sometimes entertaining but awful
Wrestling was cool before bra and panties matches and there were plenty of "lame finishers" then. Steamboat knocked Flair out with a chop
PG does suck and as a female fan for many years, Bra and Panties is overblown. I'd rather watch Sherri Martel than basic chicks who look like they work at your local panty/booty/chicken wing sports bar.
