As someone who never works out, has no muscles or strength to speak of and no fighting skills whatsoever, I can say with confidence, that I am pretty confident about my chances in shoot fight against these two.
Oh yeah, well I’m 51, 30 pounds overweight with high blood pressure & I’m nearsighted in one eye, and I could kick both their asses in a shoot handicap match.
I would question the masculinity of any man who thought, for sure, that the young bucks would kick his ass. at a bare minimum, you should be delusionaly confident that you could beat their ass.

misternogood absolutely right!
@Gene Bone London and Kendrick laid down the foundation that the bucks walk on now, down to the ROH / PWG history, and their moveset [other than the driver moves and way more superkicks].
@misternogood wow great call.... 100% agree with that statement

I recently watched a Rockers and Hart Foundation match for the first time in years, and I was amazed how much better they were than the Young Bucks and other matches I've seen lately.
the young bucks are the epitome of 90's hbk marks made into a gimmick - constantly uses his finisher, dress like the rockers,do dx,hbk and kliq hand gestures

@@wbs2222 In a shoot of hair pulls, backflips and sidekicks Shawn wins every time.
The thing is, a lot of the time people understand the what and how, but they simply don't understand the 'why'. That's what's going on here. The Bucks and other wrestlers of today have an idea of what to do and how to do it, but if you asked them 'why is that a good thing to do', they'd look at you like you had three heads.
Exactly my point. I enjoy mat-based stuff, high flying stuff, brawling stuff, but ONLY when the matches feel realistic. My biggest beef is that nowadays the wrestlers don't seem to know when a move should have knocked someone out if it was done legitimately. It kills the match when someone kicks out or no-sells something that should have ended the match. The reason there weren't as many high-impact moves back in the old days was because the wrestlers knew how hard it would be to keep a match believable after something like a top rope DDT. Maybe if the wrestlers did tried a basic move legitimately they'd realize they're not just transition moves and think about what they're doing
Just because more guys can do 450 splashes now than back then, doesn’t mean they’re better workers. I’ll rather watch a Bret Hart or Austin match than any match of today’s wrestlers
Fuck off.....dean malenko Chris Benoit Eddie Guerrero could make Brett and Austin look ordinary...
No they're better workers full stop.... Its just wrestlers of yesteryear do other things better like promos and psycology than todays stars but if you put Bobby Eaton or Val Venis in a match with a mid carder from today, the Beautiful one simply wouldnt be able to keep up
Greatmate watch midnight express vs rock n roll express and watch the story the craft in the ring. Then watch a young bucks match.. you can tell who the better workers are
dru713281 did I ever mentioned Malenko Benoit or Guerrero not being good workers? I specifically said today’s wrestlers aren’t good workers and given the fact that two of those guys have been dead for over a decade and the other is retired idk why you brought them up... so stfu4ever
Thank you! Yes! It's a lot easier to move a 175 pound body than a 250 too.

Respect to Konnan and Disco for dissecting the product. It's great that everyone today can hit a poisoned frankensteiner, but who cares when the strikes look weak and the selling is inconsistent? The great thing about NJPW is that the whole roster has rock solid fundamentals.

The Young Bucks are only over they're nerds. They are girly looking wimpy guys and that's the EXACT type of fanbase they represent.
Skinny out of shape guys, fat dudes with no hair, beards and glasses... THIS IS WHAT YOU ARE!
There better athletes now, but performers? No Way!
Its more a choreographed spot fest now with no selling.
Exactly. How many superkicks do we see across the board? How many Suicide Dives do we see across the board? Some of these young performers need to learn just b/c they can do more athletically appealing work doesnt mean they need to. I dont mind dives; just make it matter. I dont mind high spots; just make me care about it. That is where storytelling and selling comes in
Hogan, Austin, and Rock were some of the greatest draws not because of their work rate, but because of their character development. How often did you see those 3 do dives or splashes? Wrestling need to get back to character development and more realistic move sets.
On the positive side of Disco's point, it sure makes the stuff I watch when I was a kid look WAAAAY better! I enjoy it more now than when it was live.
Agreed. Even when you watch stuff like Angle vs Mysterio at Summerslam 2002, nothing today can compete.
@The Rey-Train I'll take Disco winning the TV Title from Alex Wright over any Young Bucks match any day. (Had that title match recorded, haha)
“U da prime example of a muthafuka that couldn’t make in the big leagues so u started ur own.” - New Jack
I say look at the worker's faces during matches. Back in the 'day', watch all of the facial expressions on the workers that worked their matches. There was anguish, excitement, fun and genuine evil. These days, the guys in the ring look pensive because they are too busy remembering their spots. It looks and feels dare I say, fake. Also, Rey Mysterio Jr., Konnan, Jericho and Eddie Guerrero in 1998 looked like they could do a million flips but still bang your face in. The Young Bucks don't look like they can beat some ass.
It looks so choreographed and rehearsed! I agree, just cuz they do 50 more flips doesn't make them more athletic. It doesn't even feel like a fight.
It's a bunch of spot fest flippy guys that have generic "characters", too many "finisher" type moves in matches that go too long and no one sells so you end up with a gymnastics routine instead of professional wrestling..
100% correct
Apart from all the flippy flppy,

The Kings of the leg slap.
Idont think it's getting worse per say. I think it's a generational thing overall.
My sister's ex, much older than me, would defend the late 80's against anything before, when arguing with my grandpa. But my ex brother in law ALSO defended, the late 80's again, against me, during the attitude era.
Now my nephew's watch and enjoy AEW, while I look back and reminisce on the attitude era.
I still enjoy AEW very much, but I always find myself like Cornette, thinking of tweaks that could have made a segment/promo/match better, but my nephew eats it up.
I think we all watched wrestling because it was fun to us. This "newer" style is fun to some people, and who are we to say they are wrong.
30 years from now, they (today's young people) will probably defend the Young Bucks against whatever is on TV by then. And we'll probably listen to Fandango in a podcast, like we have Disco, defending his era.
Meltzer & Alvarez saying that Young Bucks vs Omega & Page is PROOF that those guys are on the AEW payroll. It wasn't a match, it was a dance rehearsal that just so happened to be in a ring.

Great points here. One aspect where older wrestlers are WAY better is technical stuff, especially chain wrestling. When you look at the chain wrestling of Bret, Angle, Benoit, Regal and even Eddie, it's head and shoulders above what most guys today are capable of. I love wrestling and there are lots of great workers in the business today, but I don't think anybody is on the calibre of the guys I mentioned above.
Now there’s better athletes, but not better workers.
What about every single match at least one guy is gonna dive out of the ring into somebodies waiting arms? Sometimes 3 or 4 guys are just standing in a designated spot waiting for the dive. It's ridiculous, if that was a real fight they would just take one step to the left or right and the guy would hit the ground and break his tailbone.

Wop Dinero i agree not everything knew is bad but that match was shit. No chemistry, no psychology, no compelling characters, not hot crowd, just a spot fest and people kicking out of finishers. It was overrated
They were cool to watch at first but some of the moves they do I dont know who is doing it and who is supposed to get hurt from it. They do every move they know every match.

@Ray Robinson Yes I do.

@@KeepinIt100OFFICIAL Ex-WWE? Isn't 80% of the WWE roster indie grown talent? WWE hasn't produced a big star since Orton, they tried with Reigns.
I disagree with Konnan on this one... i don't think that the guys now are faster or more athletic, i just think guys back then held back, knew their roll, and did what worked because it worked. They didn't try to add an extra twist or flip just cuz they could if it ended up making the move look less legit. I'm sure you could find guys back in the 70's that if you asked em to could pull off a 630 or a buttery smooth shooting star, but the point wasn't to get a handful of nerds to tweet about it for a couple mins, it was to convince people that the show was worth watching. It allowed for suspension of disbelief... doing all the athletic shit in the world doesn't mean anything if you can park a car between the strikes or you clearly have somebody waiting to catch you... its lazy on a psychological level.
Bruuhhhh, why does Disco Inferno sound like Kermit the frog with a cold
Lol, his voice is so annoying
Like Jim Cornette has said many times, you have to be able to tell stories in the ring. You can only do so many highspots before they lose their effectiveness. You have to do more and more outlandish things, and you can only do so much before it is impossible to do it safely anymore. Thirty years ago, Hulk Hogan won matches with a simple leg drop, and made millions doing it. Warrior won matches with a splash. People won matches with Sleepers or Bear Hugs. Today, guys are doing Shooting Star Presses and Canadian Destroyers in the middle of a match. I remember when Jushin Liger started using the Shooting Star Press in Japan, and Kidman started using it in the States. I remember when Scott Steiner started using the Frankensteiner. They didn't even do it every match, but no one ever kicked out of it when they did. It was something truly special when they did it. Now, guys are doing standing SSPs or Poison Ranas in the middle of the match or on the apron without even covering the guy afterwards. The Shooting Star Press is one of the most dangerous moves in professional wrestling. The Poison Rana requires perfect execution by both guys to be done safely. If that isn't a finish, then what do you do for the finish? How can you do it safely? How do you top a Canadian Destroyer, a Spanish Fly, or a Poison Rana? You have to save crazy shit for important spots. Just because you can do shit like that, doesn't mean that you should do it every single match. That's why we have so many serious injuries today. That's why Steve Austin retired at 36. That why Edge has broken his neck twice. That's why Kurt Angle has broken his neck three times as a pro wrestler, in addition to multiple knee surgeries and a facial reconstruction(due to a botched Shooting Star Press). That's why Ryback was told he needed a shoulder replacement in his early 30's. That's why Tegan Nox has had three major knee injuries before her 26th birthday. That's why Paige was forced to retire in her mid 20's. That's why Alexa Bliss' in-ring career is effectively over due to multiple concussions. The purpose of pro wrestling is to make the fight look real while being as safe as possible at all times. Modern wrestlers have forgotten that. You have to think about life after wrestling. If you destroy your body so badly that you're done in your mid 30's, what are you going to be like physically in your 60's? They need to think long term, instead of thinking night to night. Somebody is eventually going to get killed.
Jesterr: I agree entirely with you. And then I remember the heartbreak of Iron Mike DiBiase. And Big Daddy Crabtree. And of course Owen Hart. And they all wrestled in a time when the sport was considered safe. Of course so did Matt Hardy and he had a death defying maniacal drop onto chairs spot at ringside with Sammy Guevara not long ago.😔🎤🤼♂️B.W.
90’s and early 00’s definitely had the better wrestlers. Rey, psychosis, Guerrero, Guerrera, Kidman, super crazy, Tajiri, rvd, Kurt angle, Benoit, Jericho, I ain’t even have to mention the Austin’s, rock, hhh, taker, Hitman, Owen Hart, ect.
you're missing the greatest heel in wrestling history on your list
@@TheRealDisco yeah, gangster Konnan
As a kid I hated disco and Jericho in wcw now that I’m older I realize I was being worked. Konnan was always dope, loved that roll into a clothesline back in the day and promos was on point. The wrestlers back in the day pretty much all looked like they could kick the average guy ass and they had more charisma. The world too PC now tho so a lot of stuff that was allowed back in the day would have some of these fans panties in a bunch.
“I don’t think anyone can deny that there are better in ring wrestlers than in previous generations.” WOW. Eddie and Benoit or Eddie and Malenko in WCW. This guy NEVER would’ve said that if he’d seen even one of those matches. Closest to that in WWE was Bret and he wasn’t nearly as fast. The problem with wrestlers today is they are, with every match, trying to win first place in the slam dunk contest even though none of them have mastered the layup. Disco’s point about the technique and importance of a good punch is spot on. Saying wrestlers today are better than past generations is objectively false.
10:00 Konnan's story about how they determined winners in Mexico makes me feel validated. That was the theory that half-smart, twelve year-old me had for why WCW kept letting Ric Flair keep the World's Title for so long, even though the fans didn't like him. I thought he must be winning some amateur-style contest backstage, so they let him win on TV. I was only half smart.
that was just flat out Flair's backstage power.

The Young Bucks vs Omega/Page match had too many near falls to the point that my suspension of disbelief went right out the window. It should have been 15 mins shorter. When it finished I didn't think "my god that was awesome" I was thinking "Thank god that's over".
I think the athleticism is way better today than back then. But, the psychology was better back then.
Today they are better athletes, nobody will deny that but people back then were better at everything wrestling wise than anybody now. Richochet vs Will Ospreay was a stunt dance, not a wrestling match. Very athletic, but confusing to watch.
DI really hit on something for me - older generations of wrestlers seemed like tough guys (and probably were). Nowadays I go to shows and I'm bigger than most of the workers. A lot bigger. The old school guys I could tell not to fuck with them. I don't think I would sweat many of these younger guys. Don't seem tough at all.
nowadays wrestlers just claim "bullying".
Eddie Guerrero blows away any modern wrestler. And he was entertaining. Dont even get me started on guys like flair, bret or Austin. The lack of personality and realism in modern wrestling is why I have trouble being invested.
I totally agree with Disco on this one.
The eliminators are a great tag team
Alex Wright was a fantastic worker
Usually you can look at someone and determine whether or not they're intimidating or pose a physical presence
Examples:
Roman reigns doesn't look like a guy you can just walk up to
(Which is why trying to make him a smiley face sweetheart failed)
Samoa joe
Brock lesnar
All guys who you can just look at and go "I wouldn't fuck with him"
Only part I disagree with is the criticism of the tag match. I can't stand the young fucks but that match was good as fuck.
I watched it live and I just watched it back recently. The crowd was definitely into it.
It was the only Bucks match I've enjoyed since the Briscoes match in ROH
Wrestling today sucks because most of the move require the other guy just to stand there, it's like they adopted too much Luchador into everything and most of the moves the guy getting hit by the move is either lifting the guy up to do it or just standing there and waiting for the guy to put him in some sort of stupid move... I hate it all now, NWO was the best time to watch wrestling. Goldberg was awesome too but that was just because of the character. As far as putting on a show and selling something, that was the best time... As far as tag teams go, the Road Warriors, the Steiners, Doom, nobody today is beating those tag teams...
I think what happen to pro wrestling was when they pulled the curtain back and revealed it as sports entertainment and broke kayfabe that’s why the undertaker was so over he never really broke character that was his mystique he never really gave a interview until the end
Who is it not working for?? It works for the fans. It Not working for disco doesn’t mean it doesn’t work

I think the Young Bucks have a cool thing about them until you see how SLOPPY their work is. Almost every match I’ve seen in AEW with the Bucks has a spot where there’s clearly a sloppy transition from one move to the next. Or a spot where they’re supposed to be getting their asses kicked and they look like they’re just waiting for the next choreographed moment.
Can we also talk about how the mighty Bullet Club is just a shitty NWO ripoff? Right down to the “2 sweet” hand gestures
What were those matches Disco Inferno was talking about? I want to to see
They're better at making TH-cam videos than wrestling.
So is Disco lol
The classic wrestling from the 80's and 90's were way better than the current wrestling. It's hard to find a great deal of good, realistic style wrestling of the present day.
The problem is much more complex then the workers I think. Our society changed and I think it might be for the worst. As an analogy look at music. There's plenty of awesome bands out there. But I can't name one band from the last 15 years that can become as big as the biggest bands in the 60's 70's 80' or 90's. Wrestling is the same. Plenty of awesome wrestler but I don't think anyone will become as big as the previous stars? Why? Cause you had to be special to be on tv before. Now anyone can be on you tube.
I just don’t see this nonsense where people act like todays wrestling or todays actual competitive sports are “better” than yesteryears. I really don’t see it. I try and watch newer wrestling but it just looks so choreographed and ridiculous I can’t get into it. I go back to 80s and 90s wrestling. That’s what I enjoy watching. Yeah there’s some cool stuff in modern wrestling but there’s also a ton of botches and hardly any psychology.
Everyone was dissing Disco a couple years ago and alot if his comments are revealimg themselves so be true.
@Javy 22 perhaps. But you're listening to his podcast clips. He's not listening to yours. And also doesn't take away from his opinions still coming to fruition down the line.
@Javy 22 it's this young wack generation that sucks dick. It's fucking obvious, y'all cannot fill the past's shoes. The only way this new generation know how to get over is to remake stuff from the 90s or dress up as 90s characters like Ryu or Goku.
I couldn't agree more with Disco. There needs to be legitimacy when watching these wrestling shows. We all know its staged and pre determined but we're not supposed to watch with that mindset.
The term "work" means to work the crown not to know how to do the best moves. Its about making it look real and not staged and making it look like a fight or a wrestling match rather than your turn, my turn and 17 near falls.
Thats another big thing I wish these guys would hit on the topic of more. The fact that too many matches get considered great or the best because they have a bunch of near fall finishes. IDK how many matches where Ive seen 2 too many near fall finishes. It happened the other night when Nakazawa and Omega took on best friends. Too many kick outs that by the time the finish comes and the three count comes I'm saying to myself he should've beat him with the other move or 5 minutes ago.
Disco needs more credit with his opinion. I think ever since he said what he said about the female wrestlers ppl just immediately write him off. He's been apart of the wrestling biz forever. He's right about the leg slapping nonsense. He's right about the fact that these guys make it look very choreographed and he's right about about the fans sitting on their hands because you can see the nergy drained out of them because the wrestlers feel the need to do a million things that no one will remember.
What ever happened to every wrestler having their own move set and only the most basic moves were shared like a suplex or clothesline. nowadays everyone does a super kick, everyone does a suicide dive, everyone does a Canadian destroyer.
and when I mean everyone I mean a bunch of ... you know what I mean
Also Konnan is super right about when making someone like Lesnar your champ it legitimizes the company. Does WWE really want me to believe that Becky fuckin Lynch can defeat both Rhonda Rousey and Shayna Bazler in the span of 2 years? 2 incredibly accomplished fighters? who in reality would fuck Becky's pretty ass up. Just sayin lol
Great snippet, Love the show
then I would stay tune into NXT tonight for Killer Kross
I would have never gotten out of my seat to cheer for Disco and Konnan. I would tape nitro and fast forward through those parts. Today I watched Nick vs Matt on BTE and it was one of the funnest things I’ve watched in years. Disco seems bitter about something.
Wrestling isn't supposed to be funny, see the problem?
Keepin' It 100 OFFICIAL of course it is! Since when is wrestling not funny. Are you telling me a guy that has a disco fever gimmick is not trying to be funny ?
@@82myca Since when was Disco booked as one of the top names in a company?
@Concerto it's like comedy in movies. Id rather have a smart comedy that respects the audience's intelligence instead of a goofy, over the top silly one.
Ok then, The Rock was funny, Stone Cold was funny, Bret Hart with the Hart foundation were funny, DX was funny, Roddy Piper was funny, and the list of top guys being funny goes on and on. Look today, WWE is boring because guys like Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins aren’t funny, but Bray Wyatt is and fans really seem to like him. Wrestling is suppose to be funny. It has to be!
Young Bucks are difficult to watch - there are a lot of holes in their basics.
Dude, let konnan finish a sentence just one time.
I think wrestlers are far more athletic overall today than ever before. I would say today's wrestler takes far riskier and crazier bumps with way more frequency. When it comes to psychology and selling today's wrestler is awful and at best inconsistent. Some of the fancier moves have zero sense to them while others require far to much time and cooperation to be believably executed. The young bucks are awful. If I wanted to see something like they offer I would watch the Uso's. A bigger, stronger, more athletic, funnier, more charismatic, and talented overall than the young schmucks
Because they do fucking flips that are absolutely unnecessary and they do not sell. Omega was a star that really blew up in Japan, and the Bucks were just around him. So they assumed they were big stars too
The guy who sent email to disco is so wrong. Yeah they’re nah be more people doing high spots but nobody can work and put on actual matches
Greatest wrestling match ever with a six-star rating but there was no emotional investment from the fans....
I grew up watching WWF because it was the only wrestling on TV in Spain (it still is). I remember when I started watching there were teams like LOD, the Hart Foundation, The Rockers, the Steiner Brothers...they were so much better than the Young Bucks. The matches were very fast paced but a lot rougher, more believable and they told better stories without making it obvious that they were telling a story.
Give me the generation that became stars in the 90s like Brett Hart, Owen Hart, Shawn Michaels, Kevin Nash Diesel, Scott Hall Razor Ramon, HHH, The Rock, Steve Austin, Brian Pillman, Booker T, Goldust, Sting, Undertaker, Kane, X Pac, Goldberg, Scott Steiner, Chris Jericho, Lance Storm, Sabu, Tommy Dreamer, Mike Awesome...they were all way better than any of the top guys today in WWE, AEW, Impact, ROH, MLW, NWA, AAA or NJPW.
The older wrestlers are focusing too much on the new talent rather than the actual problem which are the bookers, the people producing these shows are the ones that are either out of touch or never been in touch. There are no visionaries anymore, the talent is there if you set it up the right way. It’s just like in real life, the newer generation is getting stuff handed to them because of technology and what not so they don’t work for it like they used to. Hard work and survival of the fittest has basically gone out the water and that starts with the promoters and bookers, not the talent, the talent is trying to do what you’re telling them to do. That the problem a lot of these older wrestling guys have, they’re almost purely criticising the talent rather than the ones in charge...it makes zero sense.
The guys coming up now are fans of wrestling. Some of them back in the day they had an athletic background or were related to someone already in the business
too many wrestlers work for crowd pops
because their ratings are the shits. If it was really as great and as appealing as their niche fans think, AEW wouldn't be getting spanked in the ratings by shows like The Real Housewives of Who Gives A Fuck.
Maybe they should bring Abella Danger as their valet. She could help them out and more importantly the AEW brand....
WHO?
@@KeepinIt100OFFICIAL porn star or something like that
This kind of sounds like today's Trap vs Rap back in the day. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I'm ok with being old school now!! I have seen a lot tag teams, I like how the Bucks work, I wasn't really looking for a favorite tag team, but I appreciate their effort to entertain and try new things.
Disco inferno having crowd reaction lol yeah right ...
you should try watching wrestling sometime
Dude, Disco Inferno was legit over back in the day.
I remember watching Disco inferno when I was younger and yeah he would both know how to get crowd reactions, including heat. Didn't you see Impact recent-ish when Disco was there for a moment?! He fucking killed it as a heel! Even as a old man, he was better than the whole roster, it was quite sad cause it shows how dead wrestling is today. When he appeared on impact he was generating actual heat, getting reactions from the crowd. Not some fake ass this is awesome chants.
Yes of course he did !! And I last saw him on Booker T's (ROW) he is still getting a good reaction to this day; in WCW he was a heel and he got his heel heat
In ROW he got a good reaction from the cheering fans: shows that he is appreciated for past work. Fed up of the Disco haters: he would run rings around any WWE NXT superstar: not including former TNA guys !! Old skool wrestlers told better stories than today's wrestlers for sure:
Kermit inferno

"Heavyweight wrestling"
lololololol
there's no weight groups in wrestling.
