- In Saints Row 1, there was this amazing conservative talk radio station called WMD KBoom, hosted by Mike and David. They haven't made another appearance since the first game, so I decided to go back and record the Station in it's entirety (commercials and all).

This was my favorite radio station in SR and I immediately looked for it in SR2 when I got the chance and was so disappointed when it didn't pop up.
One of the most hilariously offensive conversions of dialogue ever in an in-game radio station 55:18 :
David: And we are talking flag burning. Yes, or no?
Mike: Yes.
David: Yes?!?
Mike: Yes.
David: What do you mean yes?!?
Mike: At the stake.
David: What are you talking about?
Mike: No questions asked. Burn these people.

Way ahead of its time
Despite Saints Row being generally goofier and less realistic than grand theft auto, this is somehow much closer to real life than any of the GTA talk radio. Certain bits of it you could easily convince someone this was an old real world recording.

They removed it because not enough people were listening to it to justify scripting and recording it.

Everytime I play Saints Row 1 I always listen to KBOOM when collecting all CDs, helps pass the time lol.
I listen to it while doing the Hitman missions, some of those targets take forever to show up. This helps pass the time immensely.
This radio station is both hilarious and ahead of its time. Still very relevant today lol

I was playing through SR2 and I'm flippin through the radio and there's no talk station, what a miss.
@CranialDamage At least the radio stations are pretty cool/awesome....there is some hope that an eventual sequel will improve on the reboot.
@CranialDamage i think the way they dig themselves out of the grave they dug when they shit on OG fans before launch and came out with the disaster peice of a game that flopped and was kinda lame is to just rebuild the first 2 games. Not just gta enhanced edition it but completely overhaul those games bring in modern graphics better animation, improve audio, modernize the controls etc. Definitely leave the game intact tho just make it feel like it came out in the 2020's. Sorta like how destroy all humans Did with their ps2 games they didnt just put it in a new engine but rather improved everything from the old games while still keeping the games intact
GTA VI is going to try and make murder and mayhem more inclusive and it's going to suffer as a result.
I like the GTA talk radio but it's too scripted compared to this. This sounds more like two people actually talking to each other
The interrupting, talking over top of each other, stuttering... If this isn't just 2 dudes improving from some sketchy directions, the actual direction must've been *amazing*.

I loved KBoom while playing Saint's Row and not gonna lie as a kid thought it was like a real talk show,it was my main station I turned to in a vehicle. Looking back on it now it was ahead of it's time before podcasts became all the rage in recent years. Though back I can admit the political satire went over my head sorta speak.

If this was in SR2 I would have listened to it all the time. I’m a talk radio guy and listen to VCPR all the time in VC, and I have some On Demand talk radio podcasts in my GTAV Self Radio playlist.
My Dad used to listen to shows like these.

just downloaded this game for xbox one, used to play it all the time as a kid on my 360, i absolutely LOVED this radio station as a kid. these guys were ahead of their time😂😂

It's more funny when you find out that iirc in 2010 a flag burning in the ME actually caused one of the people doing it to die of smoke inhalation and a few other toxins from the fabric

I don't know why, but I love talk radio in these kinds of games. Shame this is the only one I'm aware of in Saints Row. Grand Theft Auto is more abundant in the talk radio department. Thank you for making this video.

@@FlyingNazgul-wm1dv You're certainly not wrong. Saints Row 1 had so much guts in it's style. Shame the sequels but progressively more watered-down. And Grand Theft Auto is no angel in that department, either.
More abundant, but not as high quality (though I do think GTA has better commercials, especially the older games). I never even played Saint's Row, I was listening to the GTA talk radio and this was recommended. GTA's talk radio has been on a downward trajectory, though. Chatterbox from GTA3 was absolute tops. Blain County Radio and WCTR are both garbage by comparison. Ron Jakowski or Dr. Ray Diangelo Smith screaming isn't funny and it isn't fun. Listening to Lazlow have an on-air breakdown isn't funny and it isn't fun. I do like Fernando's show, though. I end up listening to a lot more music in GTA5/Online than I did in GTA3 and 4.
@@PhotriusPyrelusSR1 & 2 have superior commercials to every entry in the GTA series mainly because it was written by actual Americans, radio in the UK is pretty damn different

I fucking love the first 2 games, Third is okay, 4 is a lot of fun, and I dont really wanna play the reboot. Rather stick to the 360 I still have.
omg i fukng loved this radio, when i played this game as a kid and i made references to it at school and nobody understood me, and my family saying that im weird and that i should stop playing videogames and get a life but i loved videogames when they have good writing and books and some movies and tv shows because they dont want me to change for them, they accept me for who i am without making any demands or moking me or bullying me and without repeteadly saying that i should get out of the house, get a job and a girlfiend and and my mom makes sure that im aware of that that that.... very annoying... woman.
tl;dr i loved this shit as a kid, in my opinion, one of the best radio stations on a videogame ever.

Products of their time, the reason we never got an actual SR3 is because the times changed and as a result the direction of the series did as well.

i'm playing saints row 1 for the first time now and i can't play the game because i have to stop and listen to these two every time, so i instead came here. it's hilarious and really saddening that nothing has changed in the past 20 years. they sound exactly the same to people like bill maher and crowder and all of those right wing grifters it's insane
Funny enough I used to seriously listen to this and agree with this while playing SR years ago, and now I can even more seriously listen to this and agree with it.
This is eerily true, even in 2017/2018; I am amazed how close to reality these guys get.

It's unfortunate that Saints Row only tried to ape GTA's satirical talk-radio stations once and never tried again in any of the sequels. Although this isn't as funny as some of GTA's material, I still listened to it more than any other station in the original Saints Row.

This station is way funnier than anything I've heard in GTA.
It actually sounds like a real talk radio show compared to GTA's radio shows where every other word is a swear word and the humor is forced down everyone's throats.
